Bergman back
Duursma to the wing

Narkle in for Rioli
Bonner to sub

Would be fine swapping Fanta for Mcentee if he is fit enough

Posted this in today's game thread but fits here.

Against Carlton at Docklands next week - and they have no (recognised) ruck with both Marc Pittonet and De Koning out due to injury. So no need for a tap ruckman with no mobility as it will leave our mids exposed to a smaller faster centre bounce set up.

So Hayes out. (sorry Schulzy ).

Give Dixon and his peg leg a well earned rest before Collingwood.

Bring in Ollie Lord (who's back from suspension) to rotate with Finlayson in the ruck

And I'm not sure what we do to replace McKenzie if his ankle is something serious but the SANFL form of a couple of players looks pretty good and surely Duursma has done enough to get a spot back in the As.

Narkle stays in. And maybe Burgoyne gets another look with Rioli out for personal reasons.

Also dropping Hayes so we can ruck Ollie Lord who isn't even a ruckman is possibly the dumbest Hayes take I've read tonight and that's a very high bar.

Carlton's ruckmen being out injured is all the more reason to play Hayes. We can actually utilise his greatest strength of hitouts to advantage against Carlton when he won't be playing against an 8 foot 4 bloke like he was tonight.

You got the part that Carlton will not have a ruckman next week, yeah?

So rotating tall forwards makes sense, rather than keeping an immobile specialist tap ruckman who has no match up in the centre, yeah? But let's see what happens selection night.

Reckon you're the expert on dumb takes mate. Stop making things so personal FFS.

God forbid we actually try to press for an advantage against an opponent's weakness? Maybe if Weitering and McGovern get injured we should drop Marshall and Finlayson too.

Also posting the sentences 'Reckon you're the expert on dumb takes mate' and 'Stop making things so personal FFS' immediately after one another is just some chef's kiss irony and hypocrisy.

So your idea of pressing 'an advantage' is taking an immobile tap ruckman into the centre square in an undercover venue we perform particularly well at against a team with no recognised ruckman available and so are going to play an undersized and fast midfield?

And given that we need to rest Dixon prior to the Collingwood game so unlike tonight there will be no one to cover Hayes' obvious mobility weakness?

OK. As I said, let's see what happens selection night.

Yes, that is exactly my idea of pressing an advantage. And I guarantee you that it would be Zak Butters, Connor Rozee, Ollie Wines and Jason Horne-Francis' idea of pressing an advantage too.

Sam Hayes' best skill is his tap work. He'll be able to utilise that skill a hell of a lot better against Lewis Young and Jack Silvagni than he could against Jarrod Witts.

Do you want our midfield to have the advantage? Play Hayes.

You might be surprised to hear that I am not and have never been an AFL coach. But my take is that the modern game at the top level is all about match ups. Especially when interchanges are used to maintain aerobic performance across the field and for 120 minutes of game time.

And selecting an immobile tap ruckman for a one off advantage in a ruck contest against a team without one and who prepares a midfield knowing that does not in any way translate to an 'advantage' across the game IMHO. In fact quite the opposite in a tactical sense.

But hey. Let's see what happens at selection.

A 'one off' ruck contest? You are aware that there are about 80 ruck contests a game, right?

I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it .
Ken very seldom “manages” or rests players.
I reckon Dixon will play till his leg actually snaps off.
He normally makes very few unforced changes unless one of our better players or favourites is available. I think Hayes will hold his spot until Lycett is available again.

Many of them boundary throw ins. Something that is not commonplace in SANFL games under the last touch rules.

Which is where Hayes lack of an engine gets most exposed as it was at the end of the second quarter tonight - doubled over and out off puff unable to make the sideline contests. But you saw that as you were there- right? Of course you were.

As a result he required frequent resting on the bench after half time and a one legged Dixon needing to step up to take his place.

Do we risk that against a team with no recognised ruckman? And Dixon likely to be rested. My guess is no.

Again. Let's see what the selection panel thinks. Reckon they know a bit more than you or me.
