Just watch what Sydney's first gamers are doing tonight.
With the exception of florent, their debutants were mature agers, a bit of perspective.

Hansen named at CHF. surely they are taking the piss. if he plays forward this week, I will spew up and throw my dim sims.

He's been named there before a few times, then he has played in defence, I would not worry about it.

He is not the worst forward either btw, at he competes and is braver than most.

Pity hes the dumbest footballer we have had since david king.
That would be Shaun Atley, at least Lachie has displayed some footy smarts in the past.

Really, Lachie and Atley are our dumbest players.

Not even close.
It is a bit hard to measure, let's just conclude that we have a lot of dumb footballers.

This doesn't feel like an "aggressive reset" to me.

I understand the need to have a core of older players to build around, so that the young players aren't thrown so far in the deep end that we effectively end up playing a team resembling the first season of GWS & GC's existence without the high-end draft picks, but dropping three kids after their first games isn't how I would've gone about it.

Ideally, you would have a spine of your senior and leading players. Something like Tarrant - Thompson - Ziebell - Brown - Waite. Obviously Waite isn't available and Thompson hasn't had a great start to the year. So you drop Thompson and replace him with Hansen, who on all evidence isn't good enough to play as a genuine KPD. So you drop Hansen and replace him with Durdin, who has had his first real good pre-season and give him a taste of the big league. Just to see how he goes. Daw gets Waite's spot as the next man up. So the spine looks like Tarrant - Durdin - Ziebell - Brown - Daw.

That's not a shit spine. Not by any means. I think why Brad and co are hesitant to change things, particularly in the backline, is because if you drop Thompson and Hansen and replace them with EVW and Durdin, for example, you take away significant experience and replace it with no experience at all. None. And your backline looks like

Williams (69 games) - Tarrant (85) - Wright (116)
EVW (0) - Durdin (0) - McDonald (52)

I am personally of the opinion that Brad doesn't want to head into games with a backline that lacks experience in key posts. He wants guys like Thompson and Hansen there because they have exposed form and they're good to learn off. Regardless of their current lack of form, they're experienced players that can be looked to for guidance. But that, to me, doesn't scream aggressive reset. Aggressive reset to me, says "throw the kids in the deep end". "Make them learn from their mistakes, without Daddy Scott and Uncle Lachie to hold their hands through the inevitable shellackings that follow from having nobody with more than 150 games of experience in a backline". Aggressive reset to me, is more "**** it, cards fall where they may", than "give the team a security blanket of two not-so-great-anymore players just so they don't feel really bad about themselves when they make a mistake".

I feel sorry for Mountford, but Cunnington is better than him and will be long term. Declan may well end up being a great footballer, but obviously Brad is of the opinion that Swallow offers more than he does. Gibson also. Clarke's alleged attitude issues notwithstanding, there are plenty of footballers who carved out great careers while being less than prefects. We can't all be Ed Vickers-Willis. Give Clarke a shot in the ones and maybe his attitude will improve. Carrot, not stick.

Hibberd is stiff but clearly the coaching staff value Mullett as a more important option. Preuss didn't contribute enough. Goldstein is better one out anyway, which is a biological nonsensicality and must be investigated.

Whatever. The Cats will probably win, but this isn't how I'd prefer to lose.

Just received a tweet back from Riley Beveridge, it is 100% true not an Aprils fool at all.

Goldy is a loss but will be interesting to see Preuss as the number 1 ruck, I reckon he will beat Zac Smith or Stanley.

That hurts. Daw and Preuss can't cover the ground like Goldstein can. Stanley and Blicvas will run them off their feet IMO
