Looks like Fog will be the sub. They won't debut Worrell as the sub nor will they play Frampton as the sub.

They'll want Jones to get a full game, which he'll get in the SANFL. Could have been in the AFL team if Mackay was the sub.

If Mackay was the sub, Fogarty could have got a full game in the SANFL to continue to work on his midfield game. Was pushing for the mid/forward experiment but fine with him getting dropped, need more from his midfield minutes.

He's got some talent, just not as much as we all thought he did though.

Yes. He's a great goalkicker (not so great at knowing his range, but that's easily fixed with strict coach's instructions though.) For me, thats good enough for a spot in the side at the expense of one of the near-useless smaller forwards.

In this regard though, he's no different to one of those late converts to football who have strangely good set shot technique because they developed no bad habits in their youth. I genuinely can't see anything else he brings to the team.

I'll give you the injured players part, but this is Mackay's second game, both due to injury to Brown aka another experienced player, more than half the 22 this weekend has less than 20 games experience, I think you should give it a rest.

So we b*tch and moan about not persisting with young/inexperienced players when they come in but when we do it with Billy, it's suddenly a massive issue.

Neither of these things show our goal is 'scraping into 8', deep breaths, it's fine.

Billy young and inexperienced?!? 24 years old in his seventh year in the AFL system.

Not the "young inexperienced type" we should be wasting games on, he is "if every tall is injured" he plays.

Billy, MacKay, keep selecting an injured Lynch are all signs our goal is to push for the finals.

Nicks has done a great job getting all the players together, we have team spirit for the first time in many many years but I'm concerned his selection philosophy is too close to what we have always had (last 10+ years) and which is why we are where we are.

Our ridiculous injury list at least means most players will get a go (just give Worrell a game FFS).

Agreed with the last part regarding selection.

We missed a huge opportunity after beating North to improve the team and weed out some out of form players but we sat on our hands and our performances have been shithouse since. We have non contributors like Mcadam, Rowe and Murphy who can do zilch for consequtive weeks but keep their spot. Understanding we don't have like for like replacements for every out of form player but be creative, change things up..

You pointed to these ins as an example of a different selection philosophy, my point was when Nicks has had a chance he has reverted to type.
