tbh besides his wayward kicking i reckon mitch actually had a more decent game last week. got to more contests and hands on the ball. Shame he got injured would of taken the third tall behind marshall and dixon

Sutcliffe has been fine in the 1 and a half games he's played this year. He certainly won't be the reason we win or lose.

Great to see some players return from injury this week. Still have a few steps to go before we are at our best side, but it's coming together on that front at the right time of the season.

After his shock Sir Doug Nicholls Round omission, Xavier Duursma returns, while Ryan Burton (quad), Connor Rozee (heel), Todd Marshall (thumb) and Cam Sutcliffe are all back in the side.

After a narrow R13 win over an undermanned Hawthorn last week, the players to make way are: Sam Mayes, Jarrod Lienert, Boyd Woodcock, Mitch Georgiades and out-of-favour veteran Steven Motlop.

We bring back Burton, Rozee, Marshall and Duursma and people still manage to lose their sh*t

I love you Port board

Top of the ladder for a record 6 months straight, coming off a win, bringing back 4 quality players, upset there isn’t 8 changes.

they were obvious calls. Who in their right mind wouldn’t have brought in those players if they were fit?

I think people have a right to be confused by hinkleys selection policy. There is definitely gaps in the logic. He’s shuffling deck chairs.

Haha the SKY IS FALLING

Am I the only one thinking Sutcliffe will play back?

Rozee for Woodcock
Duursma for Motlop
Marshall for Georgiades
Burton for Lienert
Sutcliffe for Mayes

I think he has the versatility to be thrown back there plus he would provide some needed forward lockdown pressure in our forward 50 which we seem to be lacking recently.

I think the changes are pretty astute all in all. Really like Burton, think he is an integral cog in our high press just stress the F out with his injuries. Same goes for Marshall, massive fan and think that in 2022/23 he is going to be an absolute freak but hope he is absolutely ok regarding the digits for this game.

Duurs needed a spell, don’t think he was 100% confident in his body, get him warmed up for the back half with a run. As for Rozee, really, if he is fit he selects himself, had an average year to date by his standards but if fit will be super important coming into finals.

I don’t get the melts and knit picking, a pretty futile gesture and waste of energy.

That's going to be a big ol' forward line with Dixon, Marhsall, Westhoff, Ebert, Sutcliffe and Rozee rotating through there.

Although Sutcliffe could go back.

This is my best 22 for Finals

McKenzie Clurey DBJ
Hartlett Jonas Burton
Amon Boak Duursma
Butters Marshall Rozee
Ladhams Dixon Gray

Lycett Wines Houston

SPP, Ebert, Rockliff Westhoff

Emerg: Georgiadies, Motlop, Mayes

Almost the same but Westy out for a small, not necessarily one of the listed emergencies. Motlop I wished would find form but hasn’t. Perhaps a Bonner or woodcock or Sutcliffe or Farrell.

The ball better be stuck in our forward 50 for a full game rugby match based on that. No counter attacking speed at all.

I don't agree that he was 'fine', but for argument's sake let's say he was. Why are we playing a 28 year old with 111 games experience ahead of an in form young player like Woodcock against a bottom 4 side if the best he can offer is 'he'll be fine?'

Because his “fine” is the same as woodcock’s described “in form”, his lower level will be higher than woodcock’s and we are a genuine flag chance.

Yes, I agree with you re Cam, it’s the same with Jarrod L who, when he plays, is quite serviceable but when the better player returns from injury it’s goodbye Jarrod.
Cam will probably be replaced by Georgi after he has rested from his slight niggle.
Next week, unless he plays a blinder, Dan Houston will replace Bonner and the following week Ladhams will replace Westy. It will be getting our best 22 ready for the Bombers.

The one guy we should be "trying out" before the finals is Hayes. We have used 30 players so far this year so they will be the 30 we will play come finals given no B grade full games are left this year.

However if something happens to one of, or both at the sametime of Lycett and Ladhams, you don't want to debut Hayes in a final. Westhoff is a poor second ruck.

Sydney - have Sinclair rucking who is nothing great and Sam Reid pinch hits. Could have been played here.

North - Goldstein would beat up Hayes, does 90% of the rucking but would be a decent test

Essendon - Played their #3 last night Phillips as Bellchambers and Draper were injured

Collingwood - Grundy's a champ but Cox has lost form and Cameron plays as 2nd ruck so Hayes could test himself against Cameron in that game.

Brisbane, WCE, Richmond, St Kilda and Geelong with Blicavs play 2 rucks. We will have to match that in October.

Monty basically said it, Hayes isn’t close AFL standard at this point in time.

If Lycett and Ladhams both get injured, it will be Dixon Westy and Marshall all sharing the load.

That’s just the way it is... baby [emoji444]

Port Adelaide is making 5 unforced changes to the side that beat Hawthorn. Four of which are definitely first choice players, but its Hawthorn that were undermanned last week.

Our outs will never be rated unless we win a flag.

We could have Robbie, Boak and Dixon out and Richmond/Hawthorn fans would respond with "How many flags have they won?".

How close are we for our best 22?

Houston > Bonner
Ladhams > Westhoff
Woodcock > Sutcliffe

Haven't forgotten someone have I?
Monty said this am
that we need to start settling the team for finals

Sutcliffe in for Woodcock is a lol but other than that decent changes
