I’m not so sure the problem is the midfield. I may be wrong but it seems like we’re getting the ball out and into the forward 50 and then it bounces straight back out. Added to that is the very very inexperienced back line with no real stars in it at the moment.
Walker - looking cooked again like the start of last year.
Fog - not sure what he's bringing as his one wood. Needs a rocket.
Murphy - needs four qtrs to draw his duck head high free kick.
Rachele - Needs a rocket.
Pedlar confidence down.
Keays - 7 tackles for the season, averaging 4.3 per game last year.
Rankine - Oppo working him over.
Burgess - going ok for his price tag.

Forward line is letting the team down immensely at the moment.
Probably better at the moment if the forwards stay deep and let the Mids shoot from the 50.

Absolute rabble.

The forward line isn’t performing and are letting the ball out too quickly, but what hope are we giving them with the slow and then bomb delivery? Nicks also pushes at least one of them up the ground to try and improve our defensive work so they are outnumbered back there. He’s gone back to his 2022 defensive playbook.

I wouldn't be looking too closely ahead and behind the ball. We've got clearly the worst midfield group in the comp at the moment. They can't launch quality attack and they choose not to defend. Obviously Tex is playing severely hampered, Smith cooked, Murphy is a pure spud and Sholl has probably had enough chances. But midfield is where our problems start and until we address that, we'll continue to go nowhere.

But we've known this for years and have done nothing.

Yep, that’s what killed Rowes career. An instinctive forward with more goal sense than Murphy and Ned combined but asked to play up the field against his strengths. Nicks game plan destroys attacking players.

Ball movement from contest and delivery to our forwards is a midfield problem. Kicking the ball high, long and misdirected (Dawson and Laird in particular) is a midfield problem.

I'm not denying we have plenty of problems at both ends of the ground, but we definitely have a problem in the midfield.

I’m flying down from Brisbane and paying a kings ransom for a room… I’ll be damned if I’m going to miss a frigging second if the debacle likely to unfold. At least I’ll be able to have some bloody good seafood and catch up with family while here.
There are plenty of good things to do in Adelaide. Good Clare Valley Reisling with your seafood.

The B graders are performing like D graders though
Unfortunately most or the side are preforming like D graders.

You could count on 1 hand the players who have a pass mark after 3 games.

Nearly everyone has gone backwards compared to last season.

Out
Pedlar, get some touch in the SANFL
Milera, very sad about this. Just not fair, like Doedee.
Sholl soft as butter. Will be exposed against the Dees
Murphy before injured no impact as sub.

In
Nankervis
Dowling
Curtin. Might not be "ready" but play him.
Edwards. See above.

Play Curtin on the wing.
Nank takes Milera spot.

Push Tex up the ground. His lack of explosive take off is killing us in the forward line. He can't lead. His work between the arcs still very good.
Burgess the focal forward. Yeah he might kick 2.6 from set shots. But he is our best key forward right now.

We are ranked 9th for inside 50's and 18th for marks inside 50.
It compounds when you factor in some teams have played an extra game than us. That sees us move to top 2 inside 50's behind Port on average it's not supply.
West Coast have 27 MI50 we have 18 let that sink in.
If that's not a rabble then what is, FMD.
Should the mids kick it in with a do not return to sender sticker on it?

Get your shit together Nicks & Burns, because you are looking like a pair of frauds at the moment.

Tex is old/injured.
Fog is lazy.

Both are not leading regularly.

Put Burgess as the number one forward and we turn more of those I50s into scoring chances.

He is our best tall forward at the moment. The only one hitting the contest/ball on a lead regularly.

And we let "occasional" McAdam go too.

Yep.
Hardly anyone is taking a contested overhead mark in our F50 (necessary, because of the bomb-it-in-high factor), well, except for oppo defenders who feast on it.
Vs. Cats, Nicks was dumb enough to put one of our most attacking, free-roaming forwards (Pedlar, who is a mid) on Stewart who had a 10-year, 100+games, height-and-weight advantage. Btw, if Stewart was loose man in defence, what did Nicks do with our loose man caused by that?
I'm starting to like Burgess who pushes up the ground (no doubt not under clueless-Nicks' instruction ), but our only two-way runner is Energiser-Bunny-Keays
Obviously Tex is playing severely hampered, Smith cooked, Murphy is a pure spud and Sholl has probably had enough chances.
I am still amused by the Murphy/spud double-pun. So true. Smith has forgotten how to football.
Sholl --- I don't even wanna start on that dud.

I cannot see for the life of me how/why Nicks instructs the bomb-it-in tactic, nor why he hasn't changed it after it continues not to work. We all know that a kick under pressure can go high or get sprayed, but blokes delivering when free either ignore or miss a lead completely, by several metres, or just bomb in Hail-Marys that are easily cleaned up.
Even worse, the Crows have become adept at kicking straight to grateful opposition players :poov1::grimacing::mad:.

Tex cannot take an overhead mark. Burgess has a few. Our small forwards have been ineffective. Fknows what Fogarty has been told to do --- if nothing, he's doing that well.
After 3 games, a total of 23 goals (8/11/4), wtf??

The Crows are a shatshow; Burns has dismantled our forward line, VB's mids are clueless and Nicks is in big trouble.
I'm actually hoping the Crows'll be no better than 2-8 after 10 Rounds. 1-9 or 0-10 would not surprise me, the way they are playing.
That will be indisputable proof that Nicks (nice bloke that he is) is a fraud and the Board is made up of idiots.

Feels better doesn't it?

I dont think Nicks releases the brakes this week

It will be defence defence defence
Yep.

Nicks will think the reason for our loss isn't that we only kicked 4 goals, but that we couldn't restrict Fremantle to 3 goals

Used to be restricting Freo to 69 was a guaranteed win
