Changes Round 3

Houli has been A LOT better than Edwards this year. I'm surprised people are calling for him to be dropped.
Houli might be getting toches but when it comes to defensive work he has only laid 1 tackle for the season. For that reason I'd send him a message that if you want to play seniors he needs to be doing the defensive work as well, and before anyone says that he is not a tackler he has had multiple games where he has laid more than 3 tackles.

Interesting those going for the Goo, as he was very ordinary on the weekend. Disposal was sub standard.

Thursfield was not much better and has a lot more AFL experience. He should be demanding a spot at VFL level given he knew McGuane and Rance would both be suspended + Moore is injured. Very disappointing from him. He doesn't deserve a game but will probably get one given our situation.

Ya know cotchin has had the worst efficiency of all players with only 59% vs carlton and down to 50% and the worst vs st.kilda!!! but no he cant be put in the vfl for a week cause richmond rewards those who contribute with better foot work to be cut from the team.

And the arguments begin.

Maybe you missed the Coburg match report?

Thursfield was the best defender on the day along with Grimes.

Gourdis's disposal was atrocious on the weekend and I can't see him getting a call up before Thursty or Grimes.

Totally agree. Thursty did what he does best.... Spoil. Apart from that he was just ok, nothing to write home about.

Unfortunately experience will see him get over the line. I just hope both he and Grimes come in, and if Thirsty can prove to Dimma and Leppa that he can take over in the short term as our senior back until Moore, McGuane and then Rance, then great, maybe there is something to work on. But in the next few weeks he doesn’t then I see it as curtains, and like last year will be shopped around maybe to GWS.

Yeah, I read it. Didn't really comment on any negatives for the day.

Not really saying much. All 3 were average at best. Grimes gets more of a reprieve though. If we had the other defenders available none would get a game most likely because none demanded it.

In saying that I'd like to see Grimes soon. Think he has some talent. Guessing he will come in with Thursfield.

hawks have buddy roughhead and now hale

so we need to bring in atleast 2 more talls so

thursty an grimes a must

out mcguane, maybe edwards might even give drop someone esle bring in tuck or miller

Spot on there! I don't usually read them, and after reading so much about the players in here who aren't in the 1sts with mostly less favourable comments, it seemed rather odd reading how they all played like champions!!

Surely Grimes and Thursty will come in though.

Seriously. Just watch the game to see Cotch's influence.

And dont forget that efficiency doesn't mean turnovers.

Haha cotchin out?
Happy punter, if you aren't taking the piss here, then you are a moron of extreme proportions. In fact, you're out of your f*cking mind..

You can just keep your 50%ers! It won't win premierships let alone any games! Had cotchins efficiency been up another 25% we could have won the game!

Didn't get to watch the ressies as I was up in Qld, so appreciate the comment about his disposal being poor. My reason for him coming in has more to di with his ability to physically match it with Buddy Roughy or Hale, given all 3 are around the 100kg mark and I just don't see how Astbury Grimes & Thursty who would all give away a good 10kg in weight would be able to compete. For mine we need at least 1 bigger bodied opponent who can compete in body on body situations as I'm tipping the Hawks will try and isolate someone deep.

Obvious troll is obvious.

 Can you elaborate on specific disposals that cost us? I can think of 2 specific contests that kept us in the match, his stoppage goal (brilliant), and his contest on the wing (where he beat 3 Saint opponents) that lead to Vickery's goal, which would've been classed as an inefficient kick to Morton because it rolled to him, Stat's are a good indicator but not a true representation of effectiveness.

I also have always been puzzled at Cotchs poor eff% Its constantly at the bottom end. At the moment he is last after 2 games, in the high 50`s with Edwards the other (and everyone wants him propped for his poor ball use) Would be great to know how the inner sanctum analyses Cotchs eff rating.

Interesting to compare eff% with the benchmark, Collingwood for the first 2 rounds

Richmond - Collingwood
0 90-100% 0
5 80-89% 6
13 70-79% 7
3 60-69% 8
2 under 59% 1

I know its only round 2, but it would be good to see the corresponding stats for last year. At least it shows on paper we are more efficient than the Pies with 18 players over 70% to the Pies 13.

Or another way of looking at it, does eff% mean jack shit? as the Pies are streets above us, so Happy Punters concerns about dropping Cotch is probbably baseless as the Pie who is under 59% is Cloke, and do you think Malthouse will consider dropping him. lol.

True. If memory serves me Goo had a terrific 20 minutes in the 3rd qtr against Buddy in the first NAB game last year, which was the Goo`s very first hit out. I know it was only a nab game for a quarter, but at least he showed physically he was his match. If he did come in I wouldn’t loose sleep because I like him as a player. I have never been a wrap for Thirsty, so for development i would go Grimes and Goo, and for experience to be better placed for a win Thirsty and/or Grimes/Goo.

It only means jack shot for forwards, as jack had 50% vs Carlton! Eff% is better way for measuring disposal accuracy for midfielders but accuracy in general!
