Hello fellow Perthians.

Advice please. Am I best off buying tickets for Fridays match now, or are there likely better seats that will open up closer to Friday? And if so, when should I buy? Just after 2 tickets for me and the boy.

Only single seats apart from level 5. But those level 5 seats probably won't sell out so I don't think waiting to see will hurt.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. What if he was sub and someone was injured early on? He’d have t play the whole game. I like the idea of him starting because he could help get some goals on the board early.
Seriously?

Coming in fresh in the last quarter against a tiring opposition and kicking some goals is quite different from starting against a fresh opponent.

And not being able to run out a game makes him a potential liability at the end of a game.

That's at least 7 of one, 5 of the other.

I think he's being managed very well.

So what's the weekly excuse for Johnson then? 2 kicks, 45m gained. Doesn't suit the narrative around here though
It’s amazing the difference in narrative between him and Ras both with fans and the coaches

Both struggle big time with football nous and decision making , yet because one can run faster he’s been gifted 40 odd more games and considered an “exciting” prospect whilst the other needs to be delisted immediately

There will be plenty of seats available after quarter time when us long suffering Freo faithful decide to go home and do something more enjoyable.

Well I mean if you ask me both should be getting gifted games. But you already probably knew that.

Personally, I am of the opinion that we are quite useless when the ball hits the ground in our backline whether Walker plays or not. Wagner seems to be the exception at times ( but as is the way with Freo, not always). I imagine Walker couldn't have hurt. I had actually hoped after watching our last couple of wins that we had improved in that area, but it seems not. Pickett killed us in the midfield as much as anywhere.
I totally agree. I think we should take an elite state league quick and skillful small defender in the Midseason draft if Walker or Fyfe or Walters are ruled out for the year. Fyfe and Walters cant be certain to return

What does that mean? I'm going by your comments in the vent thread the other day.

To be fair, they also said they wouldn't come back to the site once the app shuts down, that didn't happen either

Atleast we don't have those weird emojis taking up half the screen

Narkle in for Banfield - Easy swap, Banfield has been poor all year, Narkle put in some solid games at Peel
Erasmus in for JOM - Don't rate Ras but JOM has been shocking all season, its like playing a man down in the centre
Chappy in for Aish - Easy Swap
Wagner in for Johnson - Worst game Johnno has ever played, couldn't even pick it up, was part of the heavy legs crew, can't take him into another 6 day break, needs some time at Peel after that performance

The 4 players going out were ones that looked like they were running on empty by halfway through the second, made the Dees look quick and they aren't a quick team. (Aish can probably be excluded but he is cooked now, looks so slow out there, I was already off him last year, am definitely off him now)

The 4 changes are not just performance based, we need some fresher legs going into this game off a short break and a long trip, last 2x long trips we have held strong with the team and got flogged by teams that didn't even end up in finals. (Dogs, WC)

If we don't take in some fresher legs then we are in big trouble

The Dees are actually quite quick and are in the top 5 in ball movement speed.
Our problem during the game was allowing the rebound off halfback too easily, literally one quarter of pressure on that halfback line and we win the game..

Wagner will come in but I would then push Worner up to the wing (has the running power) as Chappy and Wagner need to be in the back line.

I like the Narkle suggestion, he has skills and pace and can play midfield in rotation. Banfield just looks lost in whatever responsibility he's been given..

He’s played SANFL and ran out games quite well. Our team plays so slow, he’ll have plenty of time to rest.

I think Ras should be given an extended run as a tagger. Tell him to come in, never leave Jordan Dawson's side all day, and simply annoy him. Exactly what Viney did to Serong.
Give the kid a role, rather than icing him out. Get Ryan Crowley into the club to give him some tips.

I would do the opposite. Tell Bray to be on the defensive side at all stoppages and tell Ras to go hunt the footy. Move Young to half back for a few weeks.

Possible traps for this week.

Darcy in his third game need to dominate O'Brien. Losing this and the stoppages again goes a long way to getting thrashed again. And Darcy needs more that four disposals. He needs to tackle, get quick hands out and follow up. If Swaggy is going to be a thinner more agile ruck he needs to play more like Jackson. Over the last couple of weeks he has been a fat guy in a thinner man's body.

If we play OMac in the back up ruck spot vs Riley Thilthorpe - Thilthorpe is a very good ruck and with with their mids this will look ugly. I know Reidy is a bit average up front but I think that unless Darcy is dominating, we need a second ruck who is a ruck. Jackson would be handy this week but it's not going to happen.

We have the height to match up with the three headed monster upfront but the matchups will be key. I know we guard space/zone off but each of our key backs need a player to be accountable for. If Fogarty plays then Cox should go to him, Moose to Thilthorpe when forward and Draper to Tex. As for the small forwards with Chapman and probably Wagner back we should be in a better space defensively.

Rankine is the other key. Can we have someone tag him? Could Ras? Or should we put someone on Dawson. Pick your poison. Our mids need to be more accountable generally. I was at the game against Melbourne and we let them just waltz out of the centre at will.

Up forward I know JT had an off day. I can't see that happening again. He will dominate. And Nev was good on the weekend. He needs to play up the field more often. We can't be predictable going forward. And we especially can't when we are getting smashed in stoppages. I would play Narkle and start Dudley. Make them have a think about how to defend us and not just know we are going to kick it to Treacey every time. JT was double teamed a lot on the weekend. If they do that then there has to be a spare somewhere. Use them.

Finally, give the ball to Bolton, Clark, Reid, Young and our better kickers. Let them find the forwards and use better spread. Kick to space, kick to advantage and use some speed.

I think we will win, I have tipped Freo this week but we need to make a few changes and not fall into the same traps.

Which is more important:
  • a 2nd ruck to go with Thilthorpe for 10 minutes = Reidy
  • a third tall forward to assist Treacy and Amiss = almost anyone but Reidy.

I like OMac, and he tried hard but if you think he is helping out Treacy and Amiss more that Reidy would you are mistaken. He got 5 hit outs and 9 possessions against Max. Reidy's ruck work would be a lot better and he would be about the same forward as OMac.

Gawn destroyed both our rucks on the weekend. We need to start winning stoppages and locking the ball in the forward half.

I’m not sure on all this Ras could be a tagged talk. He’s not quick enough IMO

cox back to his tepid worst, so disappointing after a couple decent hit outs. ive always liked Mj and he has his moments but hasnt put together a game since his first year probably, today was a massive step back. he seems to lack a bit of desperation imo, lets players run pass far too often.

we lack urgency and desperation across the board. outside of brayshaw do we really have those dog hungry players? seems to be a real missing quality on the list.

got absolutely dog walked on transition, whether that was through effort and work rate (lack thereof) or structures im not sure. who can we bring in to remedy that?

we cleary dont have the mix down back right, give us simpson and give cox or ryan a week off. wouldnt mind seeing worner take a wing spot, thats a bloke who can throw himself around without fear
