cox back to his tepid worst, so disappointing after a couple decent hit outs. ive always liked Mj and he has his moments but hasnt put together a game since his first year probably, today was a massive step back. he seems to lack a bit of desperation imo, lets players run pass far too often.

we lack urgency and desperation across the board. outside of brayshaw do we really have those dog hungry players? seems to be a real missing quality on the list.

got absolutely dog walked on transition, whether that was through effort and work rate (lack thereof) or structures im not sure. who can we bring in to remedy that?

we cleary dont have the mix down back right, give us simpson and give cox or ryan a week off. wouldnt mind seeing worner take a wing spot, thats a bloke who can throw himself around without fear
Johnson never heard of shepherding, constantly lets the opposition run past him and puts teammates under pressure. Add the fact that he continuously overrates his strength and gets caught. Been saying this for years, hes bang on average

If we play OMac in the back up ruck spot vs Riley Thilthorpe - Thilthorpe is a very good ruck and with with their mids this will look ugly. I know Reidy is a bit average up front but I think that unless Darcy is dominating, we need a second ruck who is a ruck. Jackson would be handy this week but it's not going to happen.

I think the trap would more be weakening our team simply to win the battle of the back up rucks.

Thilthorpe is averaging 15 ruck contests a game. And his actual hit out to advantage stats are way down this year. I’d rather us just take a more defensive set up and rove to him for those few minutes each quarter.

Especially seeing as we got overran by Melbourne. Playing two out and out rucks certainly won’t help that. And while I think O’Brien is fairly limited as a player, he’s the type of ruck who can go all day. He’s likely to just spend even longer in the ruck if Thilthorpe is being beaten.

i think he has the nous and talent to be elite, have been waiting for it to all click for him. yet to happen. maybe he needs more responsibility rather than the occasional job hes been getting.

whatever it is, he needs to lock down those nitty grittys youve mentioned and push himself to be better otherwise he wont be long for the game

He stops playing and watches, thinks the play is over when he has done his part. Consistently underestimates his opponent and overestimates his own ability. Needs more hunger for the ball.
He needs a big dose of humble pie or he'll be on the Peel scrap heap.

I think we will win this game. JLo is good at pulling upset wins but fumbling the bag against certain wins. Adelaide is a very offensive side but has an average defence. JLo should be able to exploit this and outcoach Nicks on his home deck. Doesn't change anything though.
Is he? Think you over rate him personally!
Think the next bloke has nothing at all ever to do with Fremantle, or as my friends say, Failmantle

Well said, wish Ras had been given the same opportunities as at least he tackles and puts his head over the ball

Time for Johnno to spend some time at Peel and sharpen his game

mate I seriously dislike fans who leave the footy early.. Dont come at all if your gonna wimp out because the going got tough.

For the record I was a foundation member and went to most home games for 25 years. Also went to some away games and the only one I left early was in Melbourne at the MCG when Melbourne ran us down from 50 points behind.

My comment was tongue in cheek so relax.

I remember that game vividly. Still haunts me to this day. Second time Melbourne broke my heart as well. First being round 22 1997. Can understand wanting to leave early.

Firstly Johnson. Im still very hopeful for him, he is a huge midfielder, has a good step, creates time and space and usually a good kick. He is still incredibly young, in his third season. He has some attitude problems that he fails to direct at the appropriate target and I think he believes he is a lock for the best 22. He is a classic guy that thinks he is going in 100% but hes actually cruising around at 80% rat power.
He is undoubtedly tired after the repeated travel and shorter breaks. This is the ideal time to quietly make an example of him and tell Ras, "Johnnos going half arsed, Im giving him a spell in the twos, see what you can do". This is what we are talking about with JLo. How do you think a Sam Mitchell would be treating Johnson right now, all warm reassurances and cuddles??

Also you could bring in Brodie for JOM, it may not be an improvement but our midfield needs more grunt and he is injured anyway. I like the other idea of a previous poster of mixing it up with a surprise, say a Jordan Clarke or someone.

Brodie's injured, calf
But even if he was fit his card seems marked. Not without reason either

I was there that day. Sat among the Dees cheer squad with couple of Dees mates. They were very down in the dumps at 1/2 time. But the Dees kicked a couple of, there it was again, red time goals prior to the break
One of the mates disappeared, gone to the bar. I was on tenter hooks. Other mate said whats your problem. I said we are in trouble. He laughed. Come final siren he looked and said, how did you know that. I said because we are Fremantle.
The damage was done by a NT star. Kicked a bag.
AND... it was the last time supporters were allowed on the ground after game. I could not bring myself to even step on there.
I was gutted. Totally gutted.

to be fair

You seriously dislike people who chose how to spend their own valuable time?

You seem reasonable and level headed
