Switta might've had a shocker, but oppositions would walk the ball out without him down there. Easily our best (And only) defensive forward.
Yeah I didn’t think switta was that bad, certainly didn’t realise he went kickless.
Certainly agree tho we d be even worse for forward defensive pressure if he goes out , especially if we bring in Darcy to main ruck and lobb fwd.

Also wasn’t one of his best games but I thought Matera did some nice things when he had the ball was still in the right spots but was just given no space , kudos to the (stacked) Adelaide backline.

Need to get Blakely and Darcy in.

We were outbodied in the midfield and in the ruck as well.

Probably Colyer and maybe Cam Mac, as good as he was the first couple of weeks.
Don’t think we were outbodied. Fyfe, Mundy and Tucker did great.
Lobb needs help. I don’t care who comes in - Darcy or Jones or even Sandi on crutches - just bring someone in.

In: Blakeley, 2nd ruck
out: Colyer, McCarthy
Feel this is reasonable.

Out: McCarthy (hasn't been the same since he got the virus), Brashaw (rest/manage, and I'd give Cerra a rest the following week)

In: Darcy, Blakley

Lobb back to forward line, working the wings and covering ruck 25% of time.

Are people even thinking of Richmond when listing these changes?

We'll beat them playing the same way we beat the Doggies last week (and GWS), I actually would like to see Cox and Darcy back in, but I think it makes us slower and the Tiges will exploit it. They play well over here too.

And you know what? I'd actually like to see a different approach with McCarthy instead of the ol' drop 'Im back to the Magoos, because it doesn't improve his confidence. He kicked multiple goals in the first couple of games and there's really something to work with. Let's see if the forward coach is worth his salt and actually tries something different with him.

Blakely comes in for someone unlucky.

That’s true. And bulldogs did beat them using small ball. Teams try to exploit their one ruck in Nankervis.
They have no defenders to stop Tabs/Hogan and Lobb. If Naughton dominated, there’s lots to exploit there.

I had a virus a couple days after McCarthy. Although after the first 3 days the symptoms were relatively mild, they have lingered for a good two weeks.
He hasn't played well, but I would give him another week.
Darcy, Cox and Blakeley are capable afl players, they aren't particularly quick though. Would be worried about bringing them at the expense of faster players.

He's not just having off games, he was worst on ground for Freo last week, and very close to it again this week. It's not a skills issue where confidence is a factor, he's just not working hard enough. And this is in a forwardline where he has the freedom to play as a 3rd tall, It's not like he's copping the best defenders each week.

Can’t do that. We have players knocking down the door. McCarthy shouldn’t be immune to that. He’s about ineffective out there rather just play with 21 players.
He was worst on last week, sure he was sick. Now he has backed that up. All the while Cox came in, did a serviceable job but pushed back to WAFL for fitness and form. He’s done that and now he deserves that chance.
McCarthy has the luxury of being a foil in Tabs and Hogan. Yet Tabs is working harder then he is with 2/3 players on him and Hogan chasing hard and marking even as a key forward

I reckon McCarthy should get a reprieve. No one in the forward line played well, I don't know why he is singled out.

You don't want to go in tall against Richmond so I'm happy for Lobb to have one last go in the ruck. Not sure he's much value if he isn't playing ruck anyway.

OUT: Colyer IN: Blakely. He ain't flashy but it's obvious the role Conca plays in the team. I've got no idea what it is that Colyer is supposed to be doing. Barely remember him using his pace at all.
