Hopefully Hipwood is given a go this week. He's our future CHB. No point wasting games on Paine if he is going to be delisted by the end of the year. I feel the same way about Merrett, but given his experience we have to play him, even though he has been in terrible form.
I have some hope for Paine. Has definitely shown improvement in the last few months in the reserves and with Clarke retires and whilst we wait for maybe a young player like Skinner to develop may be now or never for him.

Don't personally consider him a huge out. A break will probably do him the world of good. Cloke missed the VFL last week with a back injury so they might leave him out again.

Merrett and Paine in for Andrews and McStay is probably not a bad thing imo. Assuming we can upgrade Paine? Then again, If McStay can play tighter, he's probably an ideal match up for Moore athletically anyway. But I feel he has been pretty disappointing as a defender.

Don't think we've upgraded anyone for Clarke yet (Evans was elevated for Skinner), so I assume so.

He turns the ball over way too much and his kicking skill are terrible from what I have seen in the reserves. I hope he can grab this opportunity if it is given to him. So far the only reason I want him on our list is because he's funny on locker talk.

Planta Fascia injury. Poor kid.

I have actually thought Merrett was pretty good in the games he has played.
He provides what we expect which is a big body on the big key forwards.
He also makes Darcy, Harris and co feel that little bit more confident in their ability to defend due to his leadership.

I can see Harris Andrews getting ruled out for a fair while if that injury has a history of being tough to shake. It just puts our defense under more pressure. We really need Merrett to pick up his act when it comes to hygiene otherwise we will be really thin down back.

I heard Harris has been sharing a foot spa. Just sayin'.

how long does this planta fascia thing take to heal?
Problem is you gotta stay off your feet!!
Moon boot etc
cant run much for a while and have to avoid impact
JB suffered a lot with it in his latter stages but his recovery would have obviously been slower because he was older in the tooth.

Devastating, we just cannot take a trick.

Harris one of our bright lights as well each week. For me it's the type of injury that is more sour - those things can linger..

Id be a lot more concerned with Jayden Mcgraths foot injury.
Was it a Navicular??
If so is this the second relapse in this case?
Not good at all if this is so.
Very very hard to heal up.

Second case, yes. Missed two to three months of football from it last time.

Although Claye Beams had the same thing early in his career and I don't believe it has ever relapsed again (Despite his horror injury run).

Stress reaction in the navicular bone which is a recurring injury for him (well third time).

Why is it that our most important players get these devastating injuries?

You think losing a future 200+ gamer forever would be enough but now Harris has a potentially chronic injury.

Must have made a deal with the devil to get our 3-peat or something

Even on bad weeks Harris was always a shining light for us

Devastated

Not sure which thread to put this in. I just listened to Murray Davis in the coaches review. To me, (happy to be shot down) everything he talked about apart from the going to ground stuff was a result of a lack of defensive run. Not sticking tackles to me says in part and looked as though (when the examples were shown) our technique is not correct as well as not being strong enough. I still don't think apart from Beams and perhaps Mitch Robbo that we are developed enough strength wise around the ball. I think some of our blokes are playing inside but may be more suited outside. The defensive run thing to me is either fitness or a lack of intent.
I thought the review was one of the best the club has put out so far.

Devastated to say the least. Cant find any positives in this at all.

This injury in all likelihood isn't as bad as you guys are making it out to me, there are obviously various degrees but everyone seems to jump to the worst case scenario e.i. Brown and Yarran. The report said that he "pulled up sore," insinuating that there wasn't an incident where he just snapped it like Brown. I know because I did the same thing a month ago, you play a game off footy with the incorrect boot/orthotic/laces not tied up properly and this can easily cause problems, people with flat feet are predisposed to it. Minor ones can be fixed extremely quickly and don't require a moon boot, just regular massaging and taping to keep the stress off the arch when walking. The physio that I had said that they also heal extremely quickly in young people (which is why Jonathan Brown took so long, as Robbo18! mentioned), it took me 1 week and I'm the same age as Harris. It surprised me since mine was pretty bad, I couldn't put weight on it the first few days, so hopefully its the same for Harris.

Anyway just thought I'd let people know from my limited knowledge that it could only be this week before everyone starts to panic.

Andrews out is a bigger loss than just a negating defender - he's a rebound specialist and even delivers into the 50 with great poise.
Yep .if he was playing for a Melbourne team he would be getting a lot of well deserved praise.
Been outstanding for us.
