I'm not going to lie his name popped into my head when thinking of examples of similar moves.

To interject on one theme I've seen pop up which is the need to score 85+ and I don't personally subscribe to that as an indicator of success for either team. I would look deeper at the cause of that scoring. Both teams are lacking firepower due to varying reasons, IMO, but have still managed to find avenues to goal. The key for me is control of the ball.

The two teams are ranked #2 and #3 for disposals per game, #1 and #2 for uncontested possessions and #4 and #5 for clearances. What I think will take place is that both teams will have periods where they own the ball and control the contest, but the result will hinge on who capitalises most on that control. The Demons midfield has bullied Collingwood's over the past two years so it'll be interesting to see which club puts the most time into which players.

I'm not normally an advocate of defensive roles, but I would send Greenwood to someone this week if he gets up for the clash (probably Hibberd) and I expect Vince to go with Pendlebury. Overall it's a tantalising matchup because I get the sense that it's the type of game that both sets of supporters go into viewing as the sort of match their own club usually drops.

Hibberd will run off Greenwood pretty easily. Tyson's the easy one to tag for us

I doubt that personally.

I don't particularly rate Greenwood the footballer, but Greenwood the athlete is a beast. He's quite comfortably the best runner at Collingwood, IMO, because not only is he strong from an endurance perspective, but he also leads the way when it comes to sprint work.

My concern with sending him to Hibberd wouldn't be the potential that he couldn't keep up with him, but rather whether our forward group is dangerous enough to stay busy with one link in the chain sitting on an opponent. With Elliott in the line up I'd say yes, but without him I'm not so sure.

I think it's valid because whilst we've missed Hogan this year we are still scoring just over 100 a game, the Pies 88. We'll beat you if we break even or win out of the middle because we've got better small/medium options up forward, Pies will need to control the midfield to kick a winning score (So basically I agree with your overall point just disagree we lack firepower).

Also if you want a better quality analysis go to footywire and look up opposition differential averages for stats like clearances and contested possessions, it is an improved indicator of how the teams are going.

Mason Cox isn't playing the second half, doesn't appear to be injured so could be a back up plan for Monday.

Looks like JKH is on ice for us to

Monday is actually huge now woth the results.

Win = jump Freo, WC and Essendon into 6th
Lose = drop to 11th.

Agreed. Jones is the obvious tag option, he struggles with it a bit now he is more of an outside player.

I like the Collingwood posters idea of tagging hibberd. He has been massive with his rebound. I'd be looking to stop Hunt and Hibberd because we play best when we control it off half back. We don't capitalize when we are winning clearances and often get scored against in that scenario

Where is the Collingwood bantz thread?
Sorry Russian Demon et al. It's been preying on my mind and I just haven't had time to write one. I meant to but had unavoidable intrusion of life issues. I haven't even been able to watch any footy this weekend. Went on the AFL website last night to check scores and results and quickly switched it off thinking I was hallucinating.

If anyone wants to start a random, briefly introduced banter thread I would be very greatful. Something simple like Pies suck should do it.

Another crisitunity match. Also A loss makes next week even more crucial, suddenly gold Coast have crept up the ladder and they face Carlton at metricon, a win we get a bit of a buffer and then have an opportunity to overtake the dogs which isn't easy because it's at Etihad but definitely winnable considering the dogs aren't what they were last year.

Rosebury (8), Stephens (12), S.Ryan (25), Mollison (32) ... not Nichols, so that's a win
Cheers mate

Thank goodness for no Nichols

He already did Thursday night and Today so his stench is well and truly across the weekend.

Those 4 are a good result, they're all generally pretty good.
Yeah they're pretty steady umpires. Speaking of Nichols, watched the final 2 mins of the Carlton GWS game. Really tried to get GWS over the line
