Let's not kid ourselves that this is a huge upgrade, or any upgrade for that matter unless Vardy has been picked for some ruck time. Otherwise he's just a different face to Fraser.

Vardy’s best with the Eagles >>> McInnes’ best, though admittedly that’s been as a ruck option who CAN swing forward, rather than a stay at home forward.

Maybe this frees up some time for Nic to spend forward rather than on the bench? It’s a risk going in with what amounts to three rucks, but I like what it conceptually allows us to do.

Disagree with Venables over Sheed....

But I guess there are enough midfielders in that side

Yes, not surprisingly we have beefed up the midfield after our dismal capitulation last week. Hopefully we pull off a win here. Congratulations to Oscar. I think he will be a beauty!

They're not, actually. Waterman's 13 goals from 14 games is a higher average than Fogarty's 8 goals from 9 games. Ask your teacher to work it out on a calculator for you.

...or, Waterman gets more disposals because he plays further up the ground than stay-at-home forward Fogarty. Which makes the fact he averages more goals than Fogarty more impressive.

And Fogarty averages more clangers per game (from less disposals), which suggests he's more of a ball butcher, doesn't it?

Your desire to crap on one of our more promising youngsters is astounding, frankly.

In another astounding statistic, you've dunked hard on hungrytiger exactly one time to his none.

Vardy's worst with the Eagles has basically resulted in us having 17 men on the field. Agree though in that he offers flexibility. He's only 2 clicks taller the McIness but sure plays a lot bigger.

Hopefully Waterman is the emergency. That way he gets a rest (probably) and the others can keep continuity at EP. although as I type this I wonder if there is another ****ing bye.

at the end of the day one has the agility of Ben Rutten and the other has the agility of Ash Hansen.

EP have a bye this week yes

At least Vardy can physically impose himself (when playing well). It is not something McInnes seems to be able to do. Not trying to have a go at McInnes, but Vardy (if in form) is a much better option.

Hamish Brayshaw now our only 2017 draftee yet to debut

Something of a tick for our recruiters and also pleased the match committee has shown a willingness to give younger players a chance this season

Guess Venables kicking 4 goals in 4 games and Sheed kicking 4 from 10 games worked in Venables favour. Sheed is really good inside so it's a big call to leave him out. I hope the 3 rotation ruck forward system works. Good to see Ainsworth staying in.

This is a perfect opportunity for Allen to debut down back with no Cameron, Patton, Lobb or Greene and with Schofield taking whoever they choose to be their #1 target. He'll essentially be playing on GWS's 6th best forward

EDIT: Turns out Lobb is playing (thought he was injured) but at worse he'll find himself on Himmelberg or even Finlayson who they have pushed forward at times lately

not going to lie, no Sheed has me worried. we have been getting smashed in the clearances lately.

Vardy's inclusion has me worried there's actually something wrong with NN

Don't know how much you can read into it. He's basically a straight swap for McInnes who might be injured, but who everyone basically agreed wasn't up to it anyway.
