Rosa is one of the players who should be making way for youth. Selwood should be on notice (hope he is sub)

Thing is he hasn't made way for youth, but Butler. I would rather Rosa in as another mid/wing rotation than Butler down back. Shep and Wellingham have got that covered right now.

Under-rating Buttman's season IMHO

I think Rosa is probably player management as much as anything. Good to have a bit of depth causing MC to think hard.

Butler has been solid this year. Also IMO allows Yeo to play 80+% in the mids as opposed to having rotate Rosa through there. It's obviously on balance that Rosa was left out as Scooter is inside.

Still harsh on Rosa but that's how it is when you're sitting second on the ladder.

Rosa being omitted is definitely a positive, shows no ones spot is safe, even senior players. If Selwood for example doesn't perform this weekend he should be the next to be dropped. I will admit I've never been a Selwood "basher" but I vomited in my mouth a bit when I saw his name at the starting center bounce. Hopefully he starts on the bench and Yeo starts at the bounce.

Butler really replaces Yeo as third HB, and Yeo replaces Rosa in mid. If Rosa stayed Sheed or Duggan would have to go (since they don't want to drop Scoot), so there just aren't enough midfield spots to go around. Good problem to have etc.

Stoked to see Yeo named in the centre - finally!

I don't want to bring the Selwood thread in here, but - every player is different, and every player needs to managed differently. Selwood may be one of those players who a) takes time to recover from serious injury, and b) needs a challenge to find his form. What's to say he hasn't been told that if he doesn't make it count this weekend (a game where we can HOPEFULLY carry him if needed), then he goes back to the WAFL for a spell?

It's a more complex decision-making process than many of us give it credit for imho.

Rosa being dropped is a bit surprising, especially since he needs game time to get match fitness up and is named as there emergency. With Butler coming in is there a strong chance that McGovern might be a late "out" and Rosa will come back in and play down back?

I thought Selwood was horrible against Richmond and that Rosa wasn't too bad. Obviously Rosa was dropped for structural reasons, doesn't play the same position as Selwood. Selwood is getting a big chance to show that he's worth a position.

It's warmed up a bit from the weekend.

Tonights min is 20 but Sat is 18, high pressure systems in the Bight / SA.

Definitely a little warmer than a week ago.

Rosa didn't travel.

Rosa was only HB when Butler or Ellis were injured. With both of them in we've got our best 6 defenders lining up outside of eMac and brown. Don't see any of the midfielders having to rotate through half back this game, except in a pinch.

Loving the confidence the coaching staff have in the Buttman.

Love our kicking out of the defensive 50 through Butler, Ellis , Wellingham and Sheppard.
