One of our 'supporters' will be 'Banking' on it happening so they are given enough trolling material for the next couple of months on here.

Which is a shame really, will just have to familiarise myself with the ignore option. Whilst I wish we were winning games and playing to the standard we have all come to expect, I am enjoying watching our youngsters being given the opportunity to show us what they have. Always been a fan of A Pearce, but Weller and Langdon will be crucial for us going forward, enjoying seeing them rising to the occasion. To think we still have the likes of Blakley, Tucker, Mora, Harley and Apeness waiting in the wings is also a fairly exciting prospect. As supporters there is still plenty to be excited about over the course of this season :)

Pretty sure we owe North a pantsing.

I'm hoping Tucker gets a run. Last year, pretty sure we named Weller constantly but didn't play him, hopefully we have changed in this area.

Ross won't be going in with 1 ruck again. Once bitten, twice shy.
Yeah, remembered also that Griff was used as the lone ruckman in 2013 against Collingwood. It's a risky move using just one. Kangaroos have been able to do it effectively with Goldestein, however Petrie/Ben Brown provide solid back up.

Petrie very rarely goes into the ruck nowadays, he might take the odd F50 ruck duel and let Goldy play a kick behind play, but that doesn't happen a lot, Petrie had 11 hitouts from 24 games last year. Brown has had 8 hitouts in 3 games this year to date, that's about how much he rucks as well.

If Goldstein didn't ruck 92-95% of the game then we would likely have kept Currie or played Daw, who can both ruck. We have tried dropping Goldy's ruck work down to 80% or lower and play a second ruckman in the past but he plays worse when we tried that. He is just a Clydesdale that keeps plodding along, only a handful of ruckmen in the league are both good ruckmen and have that kind of endurance where they can ruck and cover the ground like he does. Sandi in his prime did, was still quite good despite his age but has needed a bit more of a rest in recent years. You could understanding Lyon trying it with Sandi, because he is such a good ruckman.

I know.

Much Suban bashing on here so someone has to stick up for him.
I have always been a Suban fan as he plays his role and is a "heart and soul" player.

He had a bad quarter last week but I wont give up on him.

Nope. Sorry but Suban is a spud. You can have all the heart and soul in the world but if you can't hit a target and consistently make shit decisions you are a liability. There's absolutely no ****ing way Suban would get a game at any other club.

Is Tucker a Vic boy? Could be a chance for the call up and still get family etc, down to the game.

Both are named on the ground.

I'm a bit worried about our lack of talls down back unless Pearce plays there. Surely taking Collins over as an emergency would have been a good idea. What happens if Dawson or Johnson gets injured in warmup?

Of our extended bench I expect these 3 to miss:
  • 8 Nick Suban
  • 14 Lachie Weller
  • 20 Matt Taberner
  • 18 Darcy Tucker
  • 9 Matt De Boer
  • 38 Jack Hannath
  • 21 Michael Barlow

Weller is performing way better than most of our so called experienced guys.

If we are trying to run a more attacking style you don't drop attacking players for one paced defenders. Weller should stay. I'm really not sure what Suban is offering us these days.

I haven't read every page in here, but how the **** does Suban continue to get games? and i,m not just going on his last performance either.
IMO Suban's bad outweighs his good. Play another youngster i say, what the hell have we got to lose?

When looking at the teams I assume that the bottom three are those who miss in about 90% of cases.
In that case I am not going to miss either MDB or Hannath who IMHO are genuine emergencies and I would rather someone else played.
What is surprising is the thought of dropping Barlow. Do I think that he is a bit unlucky? Actually yes because there are plenty of others who have been woeful. I would be much happier if Suban missed over Barlow. I just have a feeling that Barlow is out

I think the thing going against Barlow, is his lack of pace, which Ross has clearly identified as an area of weakness.

I would understand Barlow out if Mundy was playing, but without Mundy we are one short a ball winner in the guts, surely. I'd rather deBoer than Suban to run with Boohoomer. Why the heck is Suban getting a free pass? He's not only not pacy, he's also short of endurance.

Well I'm sure, like the selection committee, that Mayne will come good this week but if he doesn't I'm sure he'll come good the following week or the week after.

That's why he's picked right? His Waite-esque potential to come good?

Looks like Mayne and Suban are undroppable.

Like I said Ross and the club are not writing this season off at all and still hoping to have a tilt at the premiership.

Sorry didn't explain it properly, was meant in relation to other poor players. Yes Mzungu was bad, but must be pretty stiff to be the only one omitted/scapegoat. Mayne, Suttclife and Suban seemed to have gotten a Get-Out-Of-Jail Free ride. Can't keep dropping the usual Mzungu/De Boer and expect results.
Yep, not exactly making a statement.

Suban had the second lowest time on ground after Sandi. Langdon and Weller spent more time on ground. I knew Mayne would get another crack after the Pavlich interview but why the F are we persisting with Suban?

Not sure why Suban is so unpopular. He had one bad quarter and gives away a few too many HTB and high tackles but I would have him ahead of Mayne in my team still.

I'd personally go with Weller, Taberner, Tucker and Barlow but it'll probably be Weller, De Boer, Suban and Barlow.
