i think our best setup in ruck is Lycett solo with maybe a Westhoff or Frampton as part time

Part time rucks have worked out so well for us in the last couple of years.......
Westhoff is starting to play well again down back and Frampton can't get a game.
So that means we would need to use Dixon or Howard part time......not a good idea when we actually have real rucks available

Ryder seems to go missing in the 2nd halfs, but he is a point of difference, i know SPP butchers the ball but he also breaks open a lot of packs that we score from, the key here is to get him hand balling it off rather than kicking it into the 50

SPP went at disposal effec of 80% yesterday almost equal spread kicks / handballs .

Other mids or part time mids

Wines 68%
Houston 71%
Rocky 63%
Boak 38%

If we make finals I would make four changes to assure our best side is on the park.

Farrell or Motlop for S Gray
Burton for Bonner
Lycett for Ladhams (Hard decision but reckon we need Lycetts experience in finals)
Butters for Rockliff

Howard pretty unlucky, if Sutcliffe doesn’t do enough in the next couple we could maybe make that change but might be too tall for Hinkley.

And the award for worst poster goes to..

By foot:
SPP 77.8%
Wines 50%
Houston 44.4%
Rocky 33.3%
Boak 16.7%

And seasons stats equal top with Boak , others not far behind

Just shows reality and perception can be very different . I'd have had him and Wines as worst users

Watching the game yesterday Wines was awful by foot in the first half.

I wouldn’t use disposal efficiency in isolation as a useful stat. If you kick it to a contest 40m away say inside 50 that will count as an ineffective kick. If you kick or handball 30 metres backwards to an uncontested man that will count as an effective disposal.

Boak’s 4 points all drop his disposal efficiency and he played as a forward nearly the entire game so it’s not even worth mentioning him.

Clangers (outside of the Free’s against) along with the eye test are more useful to show how a player is disposing of the ball by foot.

Yesterday SPP had 9 kicks (2 were clangers directly to the opposition)
DBJ had 20 kicks (1 clanger)
Wines had 10 kicks (3 clangers)
Gray had 10 kicks (2 clangers)
Houston had 9 kicks (2 clangers)
Rockliff had 9 kicks (0 clangers)

Not all kicks are clangers and not all clangers are kicks.

No I know I’m saying those clangers were directly from kicks. They individual all had more actual ‘clangers’ than that

Clangers are free kicks against, disposal directly to the opposition, dropped uncontested marks or dropped uncontested handball receives that result in a contest.

going by the percentages is only half the story, you cant really use it as an acurate guide, half back flanks often have high efficiency because they are hitting up easy targets side ways, forwards often have the worse because they have a defender locking down on them, i think a better stat would be like they have in tennis, force errors and unforced errors
