SPP out - Butters in (if fully fit)
S Gray out - Motlop in
Bonner out - Burton in

Houston to stay in the middle - gun. Same structure as ESS game. An inform Motlop is the finals X Factor needed - worth the punt now.

Sutcliffe stays just, better kick both field and goals, decision maker, forward craft then SPP and s.Gray atm. Ability to play defensive forward. Versatile to go back if injury.

He has kicked 9 goals in two weeks playing as a small forward. That is his role
fair enough, then he doesnt play, the guy that goes out is bonner, the only reason he is in is because of his leg speed but too often he's turning it over, i think Butters could do well at half back, he has the aggression to put his headover the ball, leg speed, make the tackles and he has great foot skills

All defenders and ruck stats take with a grain of salt .

That's why I ran with mids only and discussion was prompted by SPP "butchering " ??????

I'm aware they're generally kicking under more pressure to forwards under pressure

DE in mid 60s regarded as ok by Champ Data

Yeo
Martin
Shuey
SPP
Dangerfield

All at @ 66% this season

A really good listen I'd recommend is Podcast Trends Mark McGowan . It often gets into stats discussions with experts who explain much .

even midfielders you have to ignore the percentages and watch the game to see exactly what they did with the ball, handballing backwards is often the easy option but will lose you the game because a half chance going forward can pay bigger dividends, some midfielders play great games just busting open packs, there disposal is shocking but they get first hand son the ball

OUT: Ladhams, Sutcliffe, Bonner
IN: Lycett, Motlop, Burton

Now is the time to put our best team in. We win this week and we are almost certainties for finals. Ladhams extremely unlucky, but Lycett is our number one and Paddy is the best forward of the 3. Paddy also is still our best HO to advantage ruck and is showing some really good form. Ladhams will be back better than ever next year and play the whole season, but for now, it’s time to win.

Sutcliffe for Motlop is a no brainer. 9 goals in 2 games as a small forward, exactly where he should be playing.

If Burton is fit, no messing around in the SANFL, straight back in for Bonner.

This will then be our best 22 for the whole season.

I am on board with this. Settle the team into the best 22 you want to play if we make the 8. I would understand if they gave burton a run in the sanfl for a week, but no more than that. Motlop in, anchored to the feet of dixon. Lycett in, clearly the most mature body able to deal with the punishment of finals. I would also potentially bring butters back in for Sam Gray.

There is no trap, the season can't end quick enough for us.

When you sent in Davies-Uniacke in for surgery on a shoulder he had been playing with for a few rounds, that’s when I knew you were starting to plan for 2020. That sort of thing never happens if the club thinks they are in with a shot at finals.

But I also think that just giving up on the season will send the wrong message to members, so I believe you’ll want to put in a better effort this game.

I'm happy to bring Motlop in to play small forward under the current forward structure. He'd benefit from the proper structure around him as much as anyone, and he's a much more dangerous player than Sutcliffe.

If we don't bring Lycett in this week, we'll have a tough time against Goldstein and he'll come in next week anyway. The Ladhams/Ryder combo has worked, but it's worked against the 2 worst ruck divisions we've played against all year. I want Lycett in if we're going to play finals.

I'd love to sneak Howard in as a defender, but he's still playing as a forward at SANFL level. It's just staggeringly bad player management at the moment. He was in terrific form as a tall defender, and we've moved him out of position then dropped him on form. Ridiculous. We're going into a finals series with our best KPD contest killer playing KPF in the SANFL.
Ken is doing to Howard what he did to Jacko.

I've now watched the replay and I can't see any deserved outs. Bonner's copped a bit of criticism but apart from the missed shot from the 50 after he'd been clobbered seemed OK. And Sam Gray was a lot more involved than I'd realised at the game, but a lot of stuff that doesn't accrue stats. Even Duursma was more active than I'd realised, I thought his tackling/defensive work was poor at the game but it didn't really look like that on telly.
However I went down to Alberton yesterday and some of the players involved in that slaughter have to be rewarded. See Magpies seal finals berth with big win over Eagles.
In summary, barring injury, I have no idea what changes to make.

Would we lose too much legspeed by having Garner in instead of Bonner?
Burton would be a huge in but maybe needs a run with the Magpies just in case.

Sutcliffe is a strange one. Getting better each week and there may be a desire to play him because he is the best tagging option and we may need that come finals. I was not at the game Saturday and I really don't know what role he played? Defensive forward? Tagger resting up forward? High forward?

Motlop nearer to goals is a tempting proposition but do we have a role for him?

It's hard to make changes from last game, so I am not going to call for any.
But...
Drew & Lycett had good games for the Maggies, so one of them might come in.
Thursday we will know the outcome of same ... will be interesting.

S Gray....... Motlop or Butters
Bonner...... Burton or Watts
Suttcliffe.... Ebert or Farrell
Sam PP...... Drew
Ladhams.... Lycett
Marshall..... Frampton
Westhoff.... Howard
The changes I would make for next week:
- Sammy or Sutcliffe for Motlop;
- Bonner for Howard or Mayes (12 emergencies, 0 games);
- Ladhams for Lycett.

Too inconsistent. Still, inconsistency is better than be consistently bad!

I reckon you don't make 2 to 3 changes to team per week to keep guys on their toes

You pick best team for game regardless of anything or season comes to an end very soon .

It's nonsense .

Sutcliffe was very average maybe Motlop but SANFL is rubbish standard compared to AFL.

Farrell can't handle step up

If it ain't broke, fix it. Make it better. Try and make it perfect.

Every week, win or lose, at least 3 or 4 players don't deliver, don't beat their opponents.

This rubbish no changes because we win, and I love all the players approach Hinkley has taken for years, is why we have been in a malaise phase for 5 seasons. Get rid of it.

Keep everyone on edge. No one is safe, so play at your best should be the message. Time to be ruthless and don't accept 2nd best.

because he is the best tagging option
I'd be interested in seeing how SPP goes as a tagger.....give him the role before finals and see if he's up to it....if he follows say Higgins or Cunnington this week as a taste see if he can take a bigger job come, hopefully, sept......regardless I would have Cam go out for a Motts or Butters to add speed and skill for a Sat night at Marvel.....

Ladhams for Lycett.
Now would be as good a time as any to test the Lycett/Ladhams combination for mine.....Lycett takes care of Goldy for most of the night but the Lad would benefit from a hit out on him....and as second fiddle.....be good to get a look at it...

Its Rounds 21 and we're talking about players of the caliber of Bonner, Sam Gray, Motlop and Sutcliffe, using terms like our best side for the season

We will beat Norf because they are cripples. JUst as we beat a cripple Essendon and cripple Sydney. We got lucky. What are we, equal 13th or something. God what a mess. One game ahead of the team who sacked their coach

- Ladhams for Lycett.
Motlop's a never-ending selection trap. He cruised around on seeming auto-pilot yesterday and scored 5 goals, poetry in motion. But so unreliable at bringing form into the top team.
If Bonner goes IMO Drew in, structurally Howard isn't the appropriate swap unless he gets reinvented yet again.
Ladhams was statistically our 3rd best player on Saturday,

Sort of agree. Perhaps Burton isn’t ready? Ladhams to go out on the understanding that he’s in the side in 2020.

I'd love to see Motlop as a genuine small forward over Sam Gray.

Lycett for Ryder as well.

Still yet to be convinced with Motlop. I see him as the icing on the cake type of player. While he undoubtedly is highly skilled he doesn’t provide the grunt work that others do.
If he was to come in I’d suggest it would be at Sutcliffes expense. For all his perceived faults Sam Gray still has a role to play.
If we are looking to replace Sam I see Butters as a more like for like replacement.
