Prediction Changes v Richmond

Picking Duursma would make Hinkley a massive hypocrite after he said he was dropped cause of form. Duursma has to come through the SANFL like Westhoff and others had to when they were dropped for form.
When did hinkley say duursma was dropped due to form? No way he was dropped for form. He was rested like butters.

Don't leave us hanging.......what's the real reason? Is the coach just ****** or was there something more sinister?
No idea the real reason but in Hinkley’s presser he said Duursma was dropped for form

This should help focus Hinkley re leaners and lifters

PORT’S DROP OFF IN LOSSES (AFL player rating declines in losses)
Steven Motlop: -157%
Ollie Wines: -79%
Sam Gray: -75%
Justin Westhoff: -56%
Brad Ebert: -54%
Robbie Gray: -37%
Scott Lycett: -28%
Tom Rockliff: -25%

I don't buy that Duursma was dropped due to form, I think something happened during the week, either a training issue or a discipline issue, that disallowed Duursma to play any football for the weekend.

So a forward who clunks marks and scores a goal in his first game, then scores three goals and 14 possessions in the second game should not be persisted, but scores s point in the third game and gets dropped and should not be persisted with?

If youre referring to frampton itll be hard to bring him in seeing as he has a two game sanfl suspension. He would do too

Besides, Ken has some misdirected hatred towards him every fan on this board knows that. You know maybe because hes over 180cm, actually belts blokes and has real port adelaide aggression in the contest. Ken loves his seagulls

How do you drop off by 157% ??? That maths looks dodgy.

If you average 16.0 rating points per game for the whole year, you are elite according to Champion Data. See tweet below they put out Sunday night for the best players average over Rds 1-17.

Lets say Motlop averages 15.0 pts in wins, then if CD are right he averages - 8.55 pts when we lose. That doesn't look right based on their bar graph charts I have seen that they produce after each game. If he averages 10 pts in the win games, then he averages -5.7 pts in a losses. Still doesn't look right.

Hinkley is a massive hypocrite so Xavier in. Should never have been out in the first place.

I think you are spot on. No other explanation for his rested ... dropped... actually disciplined.

We are fast approaching the end game this year. Finals are now looking unlikely.
TBH I didn't think we would make finals this year after losing Wingard and Polec but the newbies have surprised me and gave me renewed hope. Now it's time to put games into Marshall / Frampton (when available)
Just leave them in FFS. It's a fine line playing too many young players and getting flogged by a cricket score or sticking with some experience.

Frampton will serve his two weeks and then be expected to hit form for 1 or 2 weeks in the sanfl before getting a call up. Even then, it's not a given that he will be selected.

I knew Ken was allergic to developing key forwards but I'm still stunned that we're going to get through another season and he still hasn't been given a fair shot at it. Such a wasted year.

Then we should just be honest with it if that's the case. We usually are. DBJ missed a game cause of something similar last year and we straight out told the story. I tend to think Duursma was sore from what I've read but who knows.

Looks like somebody who doesn't understand maths took a swing at producing some analysis. I looked through the AFL player ratings twitter and got his rough player ratings points for each of the last 8 games, and he has averaged 9.6 in wins and 4.6 in losses. I imagine whoever came up with the 157% would have done something like saying 9.6 is 208% bigger than 4.6 therefore his drop off in losses must be 208%.

That's the only way I can think of that you can explain a >100% "drop off" (unless he scores heavily in the negatives in losses, but negative ratings points are reasonably uncommon).

I think we should make four changes for the Richmond game including injuries.

In:
Housten, Duursma, Broadbent, Frampton

Out:
Burton (inj) Ebert (inj) Sutcliffe (omi) Westhoff (omi)

SPP gets to keep his spot IMO, He'll be on the bench as an extra midfield.

Is Frampton suspended from the AFL and SANFL?

Note SPP arrived back into Adelaide from Perth less than 24 hours before kick off and without squad training in week

You're right.

I know there is a place for soft **** players who play for outcomes (like joe the goose) rather than creating outcomes. However, you'd expect a mature age player like Motlop, with so much talent, to lead from the front.

We turfed a very talented player in Wingard, as he wanted to put himself before the team. That means, Ken is happy with lazy Motlop efforts or we have two standards.

Every player should be prepared to get their own ball and every player should be presenting to support the player with the ball. If Motlop doesn't understand this by now, he never will. If he does understand it but doesn't do it, means he should not don a Port guernsey at AFL or SANFL level again.

It's obvious that Xavier was rested by a coach that has been adamant that he doesn’t rest players. Once again Kenny has tried to aspire to standards that he was ultimately unable to uphold, so he’s tried to get away with a ‘claytons’ rest.

When he says 'we had to have someone carry over, so we get a little bit of both', he's basically saying that he has tried to both 'rest' and 'give a small rocket' to Xavier at the same time. And when he says '..and Xavier, this week, didn’t earn his spot in the side', he's trying to justify his decision to play Sutcliffe ahead of him.

Even though the transcript below is bumbling in nature, the meaning is clear...

Yeah, he wasn't in the team, ummm, because he wasn't,..... let's be really clear, he was ok, but he hasn't been shooting the lights out... but , he's been playing really well,.... to a point, but there's a commitment to play better,... and he’s a young player, and we thought this was an opportunity for him, with the magpies playing yesterday, that we had to have someone carry over, so we get a little bit of both... I’m not a, not a, ‘resting players’ coach, so you earn your spot in the side, and Xavier, this week, didn’t earn his spot in the side..
