Changes v St Kilda

I just assumed Kingsley was completely out of the picture now, it seems not.

I'd play him to stretch the Saints defence. At the moment they have Hudghton on Ottens and then only the likes of Rix, S.Fisher and Voss to take Mooney and whoever the third big man up forward is. Playfair doesn't kick enough goals to exploit that. Having Fisher and Voss occupied will shut down the run off half back which lets us drop players back like last time when Milburn picked everything off against them.

Scarlett will stay at FB on whoever plays there.

With Egan in the side he is no longer pulled up the ground tactically by the opposition ala Tredrea v. Port in the final where Lade kicked a bag on Harley and Playfair.

I think they could go something like this ...

I am obviously no coach but think the following could be in the realm of the possible if all the players come back in.

rooke on dal santo
ling on harvey
corey on ball

a defensive forward on gram (maybe even d.johnson as is also strong overhead so may be able to take some inside 50 grabs as a bonus)

hunt on milne and tell him to tackle him hard (smash into ground when ever he gets it and after a couple he wont go near the ball again)

milburn on reiwoldt when he goes up the ground and egan or harley on him in the forward 50.

scarlett at FB all day prob on gherig. if gherig tries to take him up the ground then harley to or egan to go with him and other ready for if reiwoldt comes back down.

something like this ...

FF: Playfair, Ottens, Ablett
HF: D.Johnson, Mooney, Chapman
C: Mackie, Corey, Wojinski
HB: Enright, Milburn, Hunt
FB: Egan, Scarlett, Harley

R: King, Ling, Rooke
INT: S.Johnson, Kelly, Blake, Prismall

EMG: Byrnes, Stokes, Kingsley

Asty,

one too many tall on the forward line I think, even though HP played better last week, I still think he will go for Mooney.
Riccardi unlikely to be dropped aswell but you side does look good if they really want to test the lack of height in St.Kilda's defence.

plus

Does anyone know what Jarod Rookes injury is?, missed two weeks and it hasn't been mentioned at all?

I am not the biggest fan of Kent but i really think we have to give him a go. He has been playing well in the ressie's and who saw some of his goals against the bendigo bombers, they were goin through from the boundary. He might come back these last 4 games and kick 15-20 goals and save his career with the GFC. I think kelly needs a rest but apart from him i dont know who else.

I know! It's like a secret or something (like everything else at the club... I feel like they don't tell us so much). Remember he got that heavy bump awhile ago and then after that was playing with a helmet on. He missed round 11 and 12 because of it and now missed round 17 and 18. Might have something to do with that... or not. LOL Who knows?

ok, ta

Rooke -Very important that he plays this week, if I remember correctly he did his usual good job on Robert Harvey last time.

Any mail on G.Ablett jnr playing?

I hear KOSI will play, who belts him....Mooney, Rooke....Yates?

Kosi will do his ACL, after a misdirected handball from a local Auskick boy hits him in the knee.

Yeah I was going with the stretching their backline height with mcguire breaking his leg last week with S.Johnson able to come on and go up forward if height doesn't work but we still do have chappy, ablett and d.johnson up there to run around their feet. Also jsut realised I missed ricco and after his 3 goals last week he would have to retain his place so he would come in for rooke if rooke isn't fit and for kelly or woj if rooke is fit

This sheds some light on rookes injury (left arm/shoulder) but not sure it was ever confirmed

Kent Kingsley has no future at this club, why the hell has he been selected?? Better yet who will be dropped for him? Playfair was hardly spectacular last week but I'd rather him in the team than him.. same goes for Mark Blake.

Shannon Byrnes will take him out in a shepherd a la Giansiracusa. Either that or he runs into one of the twerps in yellow/red/green again.

I like the idea of Mooney playing in the centre that someone mentioned earlier in this thread, especially if Luke Ball lines up with a suspect shoulder. Remember the Mooney bump on Brad Johnson in 2004? *evil laugh*

So what, you do not want any back up next year?

You don't keep blokes who are 27-28 around as back ups... either they're up to standard or they're not and Kingsley is clearly not cut out. In any case, we'll still have N. Ablett and Todd Grima, not to mention the Tomahawk

IF Ablett plays, I'm sure Saints can organise a reciprocal gesture!

Loving that spine....Scarlett, Milburn, Gazza, Moons and Ottens. That forward line looks quite potent too. But Egan's on both the wing and HBF???
