Preview Changes versus Geelong

Yes, that would be the last 45 minutes of the match when GWS had completely run out of petrol and it looked like a TAC Cup training session. Cunnington was too slow for GWS in the first 55 minutes ffs. Just take a look at him getting caught with the ball in the first quarter if you want to see what he will dish up for the next 19 weeks. He can't make decisions in a hurry and he cant run at anything faster than Greg Williams speed.

Same crap that was being talked about Jack Ziebell last year. Fast forward 12 months, he is now our Vice captain and we all want him back in the squad!!

Christ, let's hope not. We need him playing for us in September, not tied up in the courts, or worse, already doing a stretch at Pentridge.

Getting sent to Pentridge would be a harsh punishment. Just because he killed someone, that's no reason to force him to live in a mini McMansion high density housing development.

Z was coming off back to back busted legs.

C is coming off a full preseason with the coach pumping him up.

You are saying by Rd 18 Cunnington will amass 40+ touches in a game and be leadership group next year?

Ok, I'll be silent for 3 months.

I'd be watching Mick in the opposition goal square more than the actual play.
I'll never forget the day when he and Plugger went toe to toe down at moorabbin.
Come to think of it, wasn't the tommahawk meant to be the next Plugger? ;)

TC, who won! Sounds like an irresistable force meeting an immovable object. Do you remember which year?

I think Brad's chosen his best 22 and he wants them to stay together as much as possible. With that in mind, the only obvious out is Campbell who has failed to deliver twice in a row now.

The interesting thing will be whether we back the current tall defenders or bring Lachie or LD back for Hawkins. Calls for Anthony, Cunnington, McIntosh, Macmillan or Atley to be dropped are strange (although one of them probably makes way if Hansen/LD comes back and Thomas is OK - which one I'm not sure?). Can't see Pedo fitting in at this stage. No other changes.

In: Ziebell, Hansen

McMahon - Hansen - Thompson
Harvey - L Delaney - Firrito
Wells - Ziebell - Anthony
Wright - Petrie - Adams

Maybe you should add the word "first" into your full preseason statement. Can you tell me when he had any other full preseason other than this years?

kangaroos.com.au says:
Having shown plenty of positive signs in his debut year in 2010, expectations were high for Ben Cunnington.

A niggling knee-injury threatened to derail his campaign, but he returned to full training in March and it was full steam ahead.

He was back for round one, but faced plenty of challenges being tested in roles through the midfield, in defence and even as a run-with player.

Cunnington found it tough to settle at times and was omitted on several ocassions, but the ability to play in different positions will no doubt help his development in the long run.

Despite the hurdles, he continued to look more comfortable with the ball in hands and his efficiency improved immensely as the season wore on.

He played arguably his best game of the year in the final round against the Tigers, giving plenty of reason for excitement if he can get his first full pre-season under his belt.

McMahon - Hansen - Thompson

Using that as the team for rd 3- I've highlighted those that I feel can get the job done or at least hold their own. It's the others not getting enough ball that worry me.Some of course I believe have a real future, others am not to sure. But we should have a much better idea come Sunday night.

I think most would say Anthony (35+ disposals), Harper, Wright & Edwards (5 goals) are going OK ATM. Those named on the bench are still to consolidate their position in the team if everyone's available. Same goes for L Delaney but the rest of the team looks to be set.

I can't wait to see what happens against Geelong if we break even in clearances and play the kamikaze handball game ... remember Geelong invented it!

Harper and Edwards worry you? Jesus. lol

Does anyone here actually watch our games at all?

Edwards doesn't worry me, but the delivery into our fwd line against an AFL standard side does.Really, people are thinking that anything that happened against GWS is likely to be repeated against Geelong- Jesus. lol

Harper will be a fine player- he aint yet.

Anywho I've named the players and I hope I'm well wrong- but we can check it all later in the week.

When we last played them at Etihad (2008?), Geelong were in form, Ablett was on fire, the umpires had the hoops on underneath and we were under Laidley with a side that included Urqhuart FFS. Yet they struggled over the line with an 11 point win.

They can't play the Dome, evident by Brad Scott's first pre season where we ran over a full strength Geelong team.

Norf by 25+, Jack to kill Selwood, quite literally.
Geelong has won 18 of its past 21 at Etihad.

And to bring up a preseason match from 2010 is a long bow to draw.

SJ, this is just the comedy thread. Take no notice of the majority of opinions in this thread.

I prefer to leave selection to the coaching staff/match committee. They are eminently more qualified to make judgements than we are. :)

Why on earth would you want to drop Macmillan?

I still think Anthony should have been dropped after round 1. A good game vs GWS did nothing to convince me he is prepared to work hard when he doesn't have the ball. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I really fear he will be found wanting against Geelong, and it could be a crucial factor in the result.

Most over-rated player on this board. Don't rate as highly as others and I have mullett, atley and wright ahead of him

Surprising. I reckon he's looking very promising, like his endeavour. He belongs.

As for most over-rated? Probably Campbell, at least by some.
Jmac doesn't do enough for my liking so i think he should go back to the 2's and work on getting the ball more and impacting the game more, agree with campbell I have him in my outs also along with cam delaney. Ziebell, hansen and pederson should replace the 3 mentioned.

E: Hasen- Pedo - Warren

* Luke in for Cam. Need the bigger bodied defender for the Cats and I'm assuming Narni isn't right to play. Car Keys to get Hawkins, Thompson to J-Pod.

*JZ in for Thomas. Again, another harder body around the ball. Jack an automatic selection.

*Mullett/Wright playing off back/forward flank respectively. I'd like Sammy to go forward and I think Mullett's more use off hb, but Scott seems set in playing Wright in defence.

*No room for Hansen. Big fan of Pedo and would mind having him as the sub at the expense of Campbell.

So you're telling us there's a chance?
