Surely Ken's realised that the Trengove experiment hasn't worked. He's given Jackson enough chances to prove himself as a forward.

Time to bring in Dougall. That move also helps to fix another problem. I was at the game on Saturday, and you could see that the defence lacked height. At times Jonas manned-up against Daniher, who's 13 cm taller. Jonas can keep tall forwards quiet. He did a great job on Tom Lynch in Shanghai but it's a tough ask when an opposition player has a big height advantage. Clurey is more suited to playing against the second line talls, and Hombsch isn't up to the job. Trengove is the obvious answer.

I don't believe it would be an admission that he got it wrong at all, it was born of necessity because we were too small up forward last year and Dougal was coming off a knee reco and not expected to return until midway through the year.

However his actions have proven that Jackson will not play back at any time while there is no replacement. It is subjective whether or not Eddy was a suitable replacement. Regardless, Dougal is that man and is definitely ready, so there is no reason to play Jackson up forward any longer.

That was infuriating. Not sure if it really was the case but it did look as though gray could have run on to the ball and kicked a goal.

That isn't how I see it. Trengove goes to defence, all three stay in but Jonas takes a small to medium sized forward. Toumpas comes out and Hartlett to a wing.

2014 was our best year since we won the flag and we had 4 'tall plodding defenders' that season. Clurey is more athletic than Carlile if anything.

Hombsch and Jonas are both at their best when they're not forced to play a KPD role. Jonas is at his best on mid-size opponents and Hombsch is at his best as a loose man.

I think Logan is a 200 game afl player for us. 197cms and has decent to very good foot skills. Having said that I don't think hen needs to be rushed in right now.

Trengove going back does leave us somewhat too heavy but since Jonas , hombsch and clurey all can play medium talls and Trengove is gonna play some ruck and bench it's not a huge deal.

You cant move Jacko back to defence as none of Hombsch, Clurey and Jonas deserve to be dropped. You cant have another tall in the backline as it will be too top heavy.

You line up Jacko, Jonas, Hombsch and Clurey (and I'd Austin to the list too) and work out which three provide the most balanced line up and then pick those three. This is professional, elite level sport we are talking about here, sometimes good, in-form players will be left out of the team, particularly when we have so few injuries.

Exactly. It seems as though Ken has picked his best 22 players and then tried to shoe-horn them into a team. Do we need Pittard, Hartlett, Broadbent and Toumpas all playing half-back flank? Choose 2, maybe 3. Do we need 3 medium-sized defenders playing tall? Why not 1 tall and 2 medium? Or 2 tall and 1 medium? Why do we have 4 midfielders (R Gray, S Gray, Boak and Ah Chee) all playing in the forward line? Only Robbie Gray should be considered a specialist forward.

Would love to see some balance in the team, even if that means dropping some of Kens best 22.

They've been vocal about him not having the tank to play in the guts. Guts v Wing are two very different beasts. He pretty much played more of a wingman's role against Hawthorn, providing link play, dropping back into defence for the intercept and provide rebound, and drifting forward going inside 50. Was his best game of the year. Hartlett isn't a defender, so don't play him there.
