Ken's reaction:

Che would be too tall

What's incredible is how some posters will pull out literally any excuse under the sun in order to support the unsupportable.

I thought I'd seen it all with some of the mental gymnastics people engaged in to find a reason for Butcher not to come in, or Eddy to be dropped, but this shit with Neade takes the absolute cake.

Literally, some of you, Ken Hinkley could come to your work and take a massive dump on your desk, and you'd be all 'yeah I can see the logic behind that, good decision, good energy, good footy boys.'

And then those same people look around at their coworkers like "WHY ARE YOU ALL SHITTING ON MY DESK?!" while Ken is still dropping trough.

God I love it when we pick a small, low ceiling small forward instead of a developing tall deserving of selection when we play Brisbane at home.

Ports, Ports never changes.

Hang on hang on hang on

I just had a penny drop moment.

Let me get this right. The guy who kicked 8 goals last week isn't in. But Neade is.

Is that correct?

Really, is that right?

If so, then the board need to step in. That's a megalomaniac coach who is desperate to be proven right. Help neade kick some goals against the cripples defence to vindicate Ken's persistence

Meanwhile, our 8 goal tall just rang his manager and told him to get him into a new club.

The only thing we have to look forward to when the serial plods and Ken are gone are our younger players. And Ken does this to them

Don't worry, we have China and a social media expert board member, and a peanut morning TV show host. We're all good.

Jake Neade is averaging exactly 1 goal per game in the SANFL.

Players averaging as much or more:

Eddy (25 from 8)
Marshall (14 from 9)
Ladhams (11 from 8)
Monfries (9 from 6)
Ah Chee (8 from 5)
Johnson (6 from 5)
Krakouer (6 from 5)
Young (5 from 2)
Howard (8 from 8)

But nah, lets pick him on some superfluous pressuring reason.

'You know when ya gotta go ya gotta go, and to be honest, I reckon he done really well to do it on the desk. It would have made a mess on the carpet. At least this way we don't have to worry about cleaning the floor, it will be much easier to get it off the table.'

"I watched the replay, and the poo wasn't as bad as you're all suggesting. Some of the runny bits on the corner were some of his best work so far, and the smell was actually pleasant. Too many desk-poo haters on this board, criticizing the poo he did on the desk while ignoring the poo he did on the couch and the other poo he did on the bed."

All issues of form and development aside. I can't believe we're playing Sam Gray, Jake Neade and Jarman Impey in the same week. Such a terribly unbalanced side.

> Say they have too many of the same type of player in the side
> Inject more of the same player

Ports.

Perfect time to bring Howard in against Brisbane this week to build his confidence back at AFL level.

But it now looks like we will throw him into the deep end in a must win match in the coming weeks (e.g against Collingwood, Richmond or West Coast).

I have held fast against criticising Hinkley but I am getting to the stage where I am beginning to lose faith in him leading this club forward with dumb selections like this.

I understand the whole team defense concept. Yes, forwards should defend a bit as well. But shouldn't we expect defenders to contribute by kicking a few goals as well? Or team attack is not a thing yet?

This obsession with forwards' defense efforts really irritates me. I mean, it should be part of their toolkit, but can't be the defining KPI. I know it sounds terribly passé but I'd be happy for our forwards to kick goals first and foremost.

The defence is sacrosanct.

Perfect time to bring in a drew or atley, or even howard.

Very happy with Houston in. Hope its the last he sees of the sanfl

No Howard? My faith in Kern is gone. I don't care how much defensive forward pressure Neade might bring, I want the big bloke who takes a grab and drills some goals. That's what's ultimately going to win us games, not Jake Neade running his guts out.

I agree Houston for Pittard is a very positive move. Neade over Dougs is just baffling though.

I can live with Doogs playing another handful of games in the SANFL, I am confident that Ken see's him in our best side.

Not sure where Palmer sits in the pecking order, probably lower than what we all thought.

I am not going to be happy with Neades game unless he kicks atleast 2 goals in every game.

Really disappointed not to see Atley in the side this week. He's announced himself as ready in the last 2 weeks and it was/is time to play him.

Houston was pretty poor when he first returned to the SANFL, but the last couple weeks has been good and although he probably didn't make himself unpickable, he was there and ready when the form of our AFL boys gave him a chance.

Just got to now hope that the chance afforded to Housto is also afforded to Howard if he can keep his form up while Jacko continues to struggle.

Which particular criticism do you feel is unfair?

-His lack of goal scoring ?

- his horrible kicking to targets inside 50?

- his decision making?

- his inability to be a marking target or even compete in the air?

- His low possesion winning ability?

The criticisms of Neade are not even remotely remotely unfair. They are justified. What's unfair is the mythical label he gets as a good defensive player when time after time his direct opponent has far more impact on the game than he does , in the air , on the ground , in link up play running off him etc. this mythical account of Neade as some sort of defensive pressure guru in the forward half is hogswash if you ask me. His 3 tackles a game while ok hardly have an impact , his chases while having the rare impact never turn games much less make up for the onslaught his opponent has given us with his barrage of easy possessions running off jake Neade to help another player in a contest.

No player has ever lined up on jake Neade and put any thought what so ever into how they will stop him. No team has ever looked at the team sheet and thought how are we going to help his defender cover Neade. Neades opponent every game ever in the afl has planned how he is going to help cover our other forwards , and how he will hurt us going the other way and that player has probably been more successful than not in achieving that.
Dear god this is so true.

He's OLDER than wines. This is not a developing player. He's hit his ceiling and it is very low.

I hope this is his last game.

I truly hope we lose and Ken gets the arse and we can put the best 22 out there.

The only reason I can see Ken not playing Howard is because if he scores 5 goals how do you drop that? Ken has no courage

lol, the mental images of either Neade, R. Gray or S. Gray taking a set shot from 40m or more. Guaranteed to hit the top of the square - if it's on target.

**** me.

Brisbane should just not bother to defend 40-60m out and stack the 40.

EDIT: Don't even bother defending Impey at all because it'll end up in the stands giving your team a free disposal.
