Credit to Adams for trying to (legally) level Shuey which could have turned the game if he’d put him off his game.

Rib and just because you haven't heard anything doesn't make it a personal issue it's as you say an ignorance issue
The AFL and Collingwood sites do not list him as an injury, despite acknowledging all others.

My post was a series of 2 questions, not a statement. I'm curious if anyone a little less hostile has further insight.

I got nothing this week. Tempted to reward form but top of the list is Crocker. Hes much maligned and deserves a go if he plays well, but maybe needs to put a few more games together.

Would like to see Reid played in defence. I think he'd be more useful to the seniors at that end.

Yep, I got nothing. Something between 0 and 3 changes with no clear ins or outs in my mind this week.

If Ben Reid gets a game this season then pull the plug on us now and start tanking for draft picks.
Couldn't agree more.

Wells and Reid we have gone so far past its not funny.

Honestly Varcoe needs to play IMO. Not everyone has to get possessions. He just adds the pressure we require.

Channel 7 reporting Beams has gastro. De Goey was at the clinic last week for the same (assuming also getting a script).

Wouldn't be surprised if it was more widespread through the club than we know of. Anyone with lower-than-normal input on the weekend could be forgiven.

That said... I'm starting to sound like a Richmond supporter!

We probably caught it off them.

I’d leave Elliott in. Currently only true forward we have. Still finding touch after so long out. Not worth wasting his talent in vfl.
I honestly thought he wasn’t too bad, when he attracts the ball something always happens.

Like someone else has already said, De Goey in the side means he’ll need to adapt his role a bit as I think we become a bit medium flying forward heavy with both. The fact that Thomas and Stephenson has struggled worse is testament to the fact Elliott shouldn’t be the one to make way.

Not too sure if i am on my own, but I'm not quite sold on Roughead as a permanent addition to the back six. I am in the camp that he should be selected when he has a match up. There is a reasonable argument for last week as a cover when Vardy was forward ( which would have happened more if he wasnt selected ). Howe and Langdon have shown they can perform against taller forwards (if the the monster A graders ) and the extra ruckman size back really adds to the overall lack of pace and drive exiting the back half.
Varcoe a certain in, Greenwood plays when he has a tag and Phillips plays wing or his spot is under real threat ( and both wings are occupied!) May well give C Brown/ Daicos an opportunity this week.

I agree to a certain extent. You want Howe and Langdon to play on not only players they are suited for, but also give them the opportunity to utilise their ability to intercept. By forcing them to play tall you will see them go into their shell and be less attacking.

So yes I agree he (Roughead) had to play against WCE. This week I'm not sure who he is best suited to?

Out = Thomas

In = Varcoe

I would drop Howe before Roughead on current form

For mine I think Langdon plays better when forced to play tall and he doesn’t go into his shell.

I respectfully disagree, the notion that every player needs 30 touches to play their role is ludicrous. With all the depth and quality we have in the midfield and forward roles at the moment, Thomas has been squeezed and now performs a role. I think he doesn’t very well, he’s one of our better movers in traffic. And kicks a goal when he has an opportunity. Clearly not at Elliot’s standard, but not many are...it pays to have him match fit in the event someone goes down injured. Is more than a handy rotation in the guts also. Same goes for Varcoe, he is not there to accumulate possessions, although he could I’m sure. His role is to apply pressure, turn the tide of a game and step up in the big moments. Those are his attributes as a player, should not have been dropped last week!

Happy for you to disagree. Vastly different discussion than Varcoe who's defensive pressure and harassment are something the team more broadly lacks. Thomas is generally poor defensively and needs to do more offensively just to compensate for that.
