I dunno. He was averaging 6 score involvements a game before last week and is our highest goal scorer. He's been able to act as a focal point up forward, has been one of our creative field kickers when he was moved up the ground. He's been bloody awesome this year imo. MRobbo will no doubt be missed intensely. Cox has a hamstring issue, he'll be out for 1-2 weeks according to that injury report.

Robbo himself is only 1 score involvement behind Cameron and Keays had 8 on the weekend and should've kicked a couple

Granted, but that doesn't mean we won't miss Charlie.

Agree entirely about Cameron. He and Hipwood have been our only true focal points all year and he was on track to better his tally of 29 goals last season for the Crows which included finals. Will be a huge loss.

I honestly don't think Cameron is much of a loss. MRobbo is more important.

If Bundy and/or Clug miss we'll need some class. With Cox unavailable Mayes has to come in.

I'd shift Rich into the midfield before promoting Matho or Lyons. He's surplus to requirements down back and is worth a shot in the middle.

Win enough ball in the middle and I'm confident we can kick enough goals to win.

As someone who likes to have fun watching football charlie is a very big loss.

Interestingly he'd been averaging less scoring shots but his accuracy was so good he was kicking more goals.

This might be the biggest loss, he is genuinely exciting to watch and I think a lot of us were already expecting the rest of the year to be relatively tough watching already.

Even for the most optimistic of us (I’d count myself as one) the continuous losing is tough. At least when you watched a game this year there was a good chance charlie would do something amazing and get you excited.

It was suggested when we traded for him that one of his weakest attributes was his kicking but it has been a revelation this year. Has shown he is more than competent on the left as well.

His kicking has definitely been the big improvement this season.

The injury also opens the door for Zorko to go back to back as leading goal kicker.

Has to be odds on favourite though if Hippy could kick straight at goal he'd be leading by a mile at this point so could easily take the mantle if his radar straightens up. Just looking we were probably on track to have three goal kickers with 30 or more.
When was the last year that happened for us?

See you all in the draft thread. Ugh.

Is Lisfranc potentially career threatening like the Navicular? Or is the prognosis for the rest of his career all good?

They can be messy but I think it's more because it just really needs to be fixed properly. Ruling him out for the season is the right call, clearly establishes that we're not going to be rushing it.

Which isn't a pretty list but the navicular is soooooo much worse.

Interesting to see Lester on that list. I don't know why but I had it in my head that it was a knee injury after he drafted him. Did that result in him losing some pace? I swear when we drafted him he ran a sub 3 second 20m. Seemed like occasionally he would show that after the injury with ball in hand but then would look slow as molasses when covering the ground.

Hoping Berry gets up and can replace Mitch, then I'd just be looking at Barrett to replace Charlie.

Wasn't at all a fan of Keays' game but given the injury situation, and the fact he did a decent negating job in the second half, I'd be willing to throw him a bone, potentially sending him to Merrett.

Are you sure? Source? We were minus 12 in clearances and their midfielders racked it up, so it sounds surprising and surely he would have got votes for that many CP? He had 15 handballs, but that doesn't make them all contested. (Maybe you're mixing him up with Tom Bell from the week before?) But if you're right, then great, it's an impressive effort.

NEAFL sluggish against Aspley

The Lions’ NEAFL side struggled against the Aspley Demons on Saturday, suffering their second consecutive loss 6.10 (46) to 9.11 (65).

Aspley recorded 12 more inside 50s than the Lions, and the majority of their scores (7.2) came from turnovers.

Running defender Mitch Hinge was impressive with 23 disposals, four contested marks, eight intercept possessions, seven score involvements and a goal.

Corey Lyons collected a team-high 31 disposals, Rhys Mathieson had 15 contested possessions and Ryan Bastinac kicked two goals.

Not sure, I was a lot less analyical at the time. Anyone else have any idea?

Will be a very interesting week at the selection table if all of Bundy, Clugga and Berry fail their tests. Better to play it safe with all three of them given the context of our season obviously.

If all three were to miss in addition to Charlie and Robbo being out and Cox unavailable we'd need to make 4 changes.

All of Mayes, Mathieson, Bell, Beams, Bastinac, Lyons, Barrett and Hinge would probably be in the mix?

Re: Ryan Lester

If you guys have any questions I'm happy to help, had a good year at the chargers, is a utility type at 190/191cm. Moves very well for his size, he's around low 81kg's i think? Ran under 3 seconds in the 20m sprint and ran a 14 + beep and was top 10 in the beep test. He can play midfield- played there for the chargers but played full back at the carnival- he's more a 3rd tall/flanker I reckon. Will be a gun:p may be slightly biased as he's a mate but hopefully he has a long and successful career at the Lions

If it was under three seconds it wasn't by much - if you did a 2.91 20m sprint you made the top 10 that year, so he was worse than that.

It is difficult to communicate to anyone who wasn’t there how truly ordinary this game was. For NEAFL level it was bad. The U18s game on the next oval featured classier use of the football.

Both teams were bog ordinary. There were a few reasonable individual performances, in the sense they were competent, but really no one particularly did anything that was screaming for elevation to AFL level. I watched both the NEAFL and AFL games and Keays and Lester did better in the ones than nearly the whole team in the twos, regardless of what the stats might say.

Someone will have to go up to fill in for the injuries. Mayes would seem to be next in line. Cox could have been but is also injured. It probably leaves Bell, CBeams and Lyons in that order as the next group. Then Matho, who was OK at best.
