Other Teams
I'm aware of and love the Miami Dolphins
OUT: Warnock, Newton, Bate, Morton, Evans (regrettably)
IN: Gawn, Blease, McDonald, Scully, Trengove

Too much to ask?

B: MacDonald - Frawley - Rivers
HB: Nicholson - McDonald - Jetta
C: Gysberts - Moloney - Scully
HF: Sylvia - Watts - Green
F: Bennell - Jurrah - Petterd
R: Martin - McKenzie - Trengove
I/C: Jones - Maric - Gawn - (Blease)
E: Evans, Howe, Dunn

OUT

Any from the following list. They are either not interested in taking this team forward, or clearly aren't up to AFL standard:

Newton(enough already)
Bate(had his chances, clearly not good enough)
Bennell(MIA for too long in matches)
Jetta(can tackle, but clearly not anything else)
Petterd(horribly out of form, or over rated, not sure which yet)
Jurrah(lazy lazy lazy footballer)
Maric(same as Jurrah)
Morton(Can run, that's about it)
Warnock(solid vfl player that's it)

That's virtually half our team from last night's game. The majority of them are in our forward half. Josh Mahoney is either the worst forward coach in the history of our game(which is possible) or these players are just too lazy or dumb(could be both) to play at this level. No intensity, not team ethic, no pressure, no good. And I could have named a few others as well like MacDonald(tried hard at least), Moloney(another Davey, once tagged is useless) and Jones(his last month excuses him).

Jurrah sums up our forward line. The guy has as much skill as anyone who has played in the red and blue. He has speed, he has agility, we are told he has endurance! So why is he so f*cking lazy???? Why is there zero pressure in our front half? Lazy a$$ed footballers and a coach who doesn't know how to show the way!

And our midfield? We have no idea on how to break a tag! Moloney again was rendered useless. One trick player. Without Jamar, he may as well play in the VFL. And why can we not shut down an opposition's midfield? Look at the last 3 weeks! Wells runs rampant, Goddard and Montagna run rampant, last night they all run rampant! No wonder Judd wanted to play. He was guranteed brownlow votes! The only pressure from our team around the ground, is in defense, where they are always under pressure!

Rivers, MacDonald, Warnock, Frawley & co actually battled pretty hard last night. It was amazing we didn't have 20 goals kicked on us with the lack of pressure from our mids and forwards. But we have no one who can hit a target coming out of defense. No one! How many times did we get the ball out of defense and kick it to a 2 on 1 in favour of Carlton? We are a dumb football team, with no direction and a major major lack of players willing to work hard for the team. Oh, and a coach who thinks we can'r win as well. Playing men behind the ball from the opening bounce is waving the white flag from the start! When I saw Watts in defense, I nearly turned off the tv.

Unfortunately we can't sack a playing list, because if we could, at least a dozen players would be gone come seasons end(which can't come quick enough). But we can sack the whole coaching staff and bring in a team of coaches who knows how to get the best out of players. Bailey has lost the group. Was clear to see weeks ago. My guess, is that he will be gone in a matter of weeks. I simply cannot see us winning another game with this group and with the injuries we have. Essendon managed to turn a bunch of squibs into a potential top 4 team in a pre season, I'm sure we can do the same with the right personel.

You have hit the nail on the head.

On Jurrah though, despite his laziness and softness that he has been showing this year, he is still 4th or 5th in the race for the Coleman. So even Jurrah in shit form produces goals. For that reason I'd keep him in.

Everything you have said is spot on though!

Wow, you are certainly living up to your user name. For me it was an over the top rant, we have a tonne of talent out of the side - so much so that even geelong or collingwood would be struggling. It is very disrupting to the side and a lot of players are being left with too much to do.

Molony cant break the tag because he has such an inexperienced midfield around him, thats not his or their fault.

For me:
Bate out - dunn in
Evans (looks sore) out - Trengrove in
Jetta out - Bartram in (if fit)
Nicholson out - scully in (if makes it through vfl ok)

Would also like to see Blease in if Bartram or scully doesn't come up. Still too pissed off at Davey even if he is fit to have him back in.

As long as Newton is never in Melbourne colours again I may keep supporting them.

Surely Gawn would offer us more. Shit - My 5 year old nephew would offer us more, especially in the ruck!

I really really really hope that Scully isn't rushed back at the detriment of his body. But at the same time I'd hate to think they're waiting for the QB in hopes of him being a 'saviour'

You are entitled to your opinion, and so am i. Nothing about what I said is over the top, it's reality, and you are just too blind to see it. Yes we have injuries. But look at Fremantle. There injury list runs deeper than ours does. So why do they continue to play at a standard that sees them winning games and being competitive every week? Because they have players committed 100% to there team and there coach. They work there butts off to do what needs to be done. Plus they have a coach who believes in them and the gameplan he created.

Our coach doesn't think we can win. That's why we went back to a flooding gameplan because he thought it best to minimize the damage instead of trying to win the damn match! And from the opening bounce he did this! We had zero chance of winning for 2 reasons, the coach doesn't believe in his players or gameplan, and the players don't believe in the coach or each other. We have the dumbest footballers in the league. By far! The amount of times we went forward just blindly kicking the ball straight to the opposition or to a 2 or 3 on 1 against us, was embarrasing. It was junior football stuff. This is when the coach has to make some moves and change the style of play during a match. Clearly it wasn't working early in the first quarter. Our forwards continue to lead too far up the ground.

So please don't use injuries as an excuse for 'how' we played. The last 3 weeks should have been wins regardless of who we had injured. We were 6 goals up against the Kangas and got smashed, Stkilda playes like rubbish and still won by 4 goals and Carlton played the worst game they have played for over a year and still won by 8 goals. So a fully committed team and a well coached team, would have won each of those games. Call it a rant, call it what you want, but you have to be either blind or plain naive not to see that Bailey has lost the playing group.

This season is lost. It's time for the MFC board to grow some balls and get a group of coaches in who know what the hell they are doing. And it's time for some players to get a reality check and realise that being a great junior talent, don't mean sh*t if you aren't willing to work hard enough...

crusty demon you are spot on mate, injuries or no injuries there is something fundamentally wrong with the squad and coach
time to move bailey on ive had enough.. would be interesting to watch us play port adelaide atm, would be the most uncontested showboating game ever
**** it this seasons gone... bring in howe, cook, blease, strauss, lawrence and any other kids on the list... if i didnt love this club so much id throw in my membership if bailey is still there in a cpl of weeks

Exactly mate! There are players who are embarrassing our jumper right now and who clearly aren't either going to make it at AFL level, or don't want to play for us anymore. So bring in the kids you have mentioned and let's see what they have to offer. The season is now shot. So we have nothing to lose by giving these kids a taste...

I spent last night yelling and swearing at the TV just like I imagine most supporters did. I have lost confidence in Bailey but you can't say that injuries have had no effect. Fremantle have more injuries for sure but look at the names on the two lists and tell me how many Melbourne players would be in the top 10 chosen. We are missing integral parts of our team. 2 or 3 years ago Geelong rested about 7 quality players and got smashed by Brisbane. If we swapped injuries with Carlton it would be a different story too and they are a good side, top 6 for sure and most likely top 4.

I agree the season is lost but at least we will get plenty of games in to the kids. We can't bring them all in at once though and the education they will get will not be as great with so many quality players out of the team which is what frustrates me the most.

FB: Rivers - Warnock - MacDonald

C: Morton - Moloney - Jones
HF: Green - Watts - Pettard
FF: Jurrah - Gawn - Maric
FOL: Martin - Sylvia - Trengove

Could switch Morton and Jetta around if you wanted some more pace for the dons..Scully will need another week in the two's imo.. Howe could also come in for petterd or Maric

OUT - Bate, Newton, Warnock, Morton
IN - Howe, Gawn, McDonald, Trengove

Maybe also Evans for Blease and Nicholson for Bartram is Bartram is ready.

COACH Dean Bailey has flagged the possibility of defender Tom McDonald and ruckman Max Gawn making their AFL debut against Essendon at the MCG next Friday night.

While I like this idea, what about Blease and Strauss?

From Demonland reports both have shown a bit and are USING THE BALL EFFECTIVELY, maybe bring in Strauss as a winger/half forward if there are worries about his ability to negate premier smalls

My team:

IN:Gawn, Trengove, McDonald, Blease, Strauss
OUT: Newton, Bate, Warnock, Morton, Jetta

B:McDonald Frawley Macdonald
HB:Jones Rivers Strauss
C:Blease Moloney Gysberts
HF:Petterd Watts Maric
F:Bennell Jurrah Green
R:Martin Trengove Sylvia
Int:Evans Gawn Mckenzie
Sub:Nicholson

Reasoning:

Gawn for Juice:
- We can't go with Martin and Newton against Bellchambers, Ryder and Hille... simply a no go.

McDonald for Warnock:
- Warnock was directly responsible for 3 goals last night, and indirectly I counted another 2 or 3, has to go... the only thing potentially saving him is Hille's presence in the Essendon forward line.

Trengove for Bate:
- Trengove automatically comes in IMO, and Bate makes way in order to shorten our forwardline... we play both Bennell and Maric as crumbers

Blease for Morton:
- Morton needs to find some form and confidence at Casey, Blease is playing well from all reports and has pace and footskills

Strauss for Jetta:
- Talk about poor skill execution in our back half Bails? Do something about it, Strauss is regarded as being one of the best field kicks at the club. Give him his chance on a big stage.

OUT - Bate, Newton, Warnock, Morton
IN - Howe, Gawn, McDonald, Trengove

Maybe also Evans for Blease and Nicholson for Bartram is Bartram is ready.

I like these changes although I still think McDonald is too green for a spot in the side. Warnock is rubbish though so it may not hurt to give him a run.

I'd like to see Howe given a crack although I fear he may just be another mid forward and we don't really need that right now. But he'd probably give more than either Bate or Dunn so a spot in the side may not hurt.

OUT:

Newton, Bate, Warnock, Bennell

IN:

Gawn, Howe, Scully, Trengove

Gawn for Newton an absolute certainty IMO, makes uber sense

The Gawn was apparently super impressive for Casey

Bennell out with no smalls coming in? I flat out don't like that.

We need him to play as a crumbing forward, not a running backman.

We have a forward setup which is way too tall with our only small being Maric, and realistically he is more of a lead up type than a pure crumber

We NEED crumbers

First 3 are depth players and in this current situation we are better off giving kids a go. Morton and Evans get pushed out by Scully and Trengove, and Strauss deserves a crack over Bennell.
