Changes vs North Melbourne

Could Maister have a go down back? Didn't Saints draft him as a key back? Think he would go all right on Petrie especially since Petrie is out of form.

Steven , Montagna and Armitage all average more inside 50's than Riewoldt

So we've got some saying that Riewoldt is a "ball hog" inside 50, yet he averages more inside 50s than any other forward?

nor quality of KP defenders

Hmmm maybe we should have got involved in the Tom Young trade. Collingwood took pick 71 for him, which was ontraded to Carlton and unlimately not used.
Seems they may have done as well out of that as we did from Roberton.

Like it wasn't going to be hard enough as is, they had to loose the unloosable game and its Boomers 350th to boot.
This is going to be a tough one.

I'd like to think our players will be just as pissed off at letting our game slip against the Bulldogs and be just as fired up to make amends with a win as North will be.

I don't think Boomer's 350th will be a factor, just put Clint Jones on him and he'll do his usual disappearing act.

Perhaps if it was against another team, you could think Stanley could be thrown forward, and I expect to see him moved there in a game at some stage. But with North Melbourne having Petrie, Tarrant and Black playing at the moment, Stanley has to play back, and Jason Blake could even get a game this week. Stanley seems the natural match up for Tarrant, with Petrie being the big worry.

If Stanley is playing back, Maister and Kosi are not up to it, Lee and Siposs are at some level of dinged up, then we don't have much left. Persist with one of McEvoy or Hickey forward, or perhaps think outside the square with another bloke of size in the side.

Or throw Spencer White in the deep end.

I'd like to see White get a go, apart from Riewoldt our forward line has been woeful this year so it might be time to try something different.

Schneider would be handy too, does anyone know where he's at?

Nah Maister is a terrible defender, he either plays as a forward or not all.

He was recruited more as a forward, where he played at Claremont, than as a defender.

Geary on boomer, dempster on wells.

Wright will probably tab NDS?

I'd expect to see one of both of Murdoch or Saunders?

I know it won't happen this week but SW said on 360 that a few more players will debut this year. I can think of White and Curren do you guys reckon theres anyone else?

Jay Lever (Doubt it), Jackson Ferguson/Jordan Staley if elevated also chances maybe. Or Minchington/Shenton depending on how they go.

Yeah - an interesting one. I also took his comments to also include players who have not played this year such as Dunnell and Ledger together with some debutants.

Not sure what else Ledger has to do, VFL stats look good. We are struggling in the middle and haven't got him in the side yet, Wonder if he is chance this week. Reckon he will get in, Wouldn't surprise me if we see Dunell finally also.

Here lies the problem.
We are too worried about opposition players that we need Geary who went at 100% Eff last week to play a negative role.
We want to tag everyone then complain about not winning contested ball and clearances.

Our core midfield is good, we need to surround them with runners instead of taggers. Make Harvey chase instead of curtailing him.

Dunell would've been in by about round 3 if we didn't have so many flankers. As much as I like him until that changes I just don't see how he plays. Maybe on a wing.

Yeah - a hard one this week because there is no real form line from Sandy last week and 3 weeks ago was the state game. I would dump Milne for Saunders, Hayes out injured for Ledger and Maister out for Kosi so that we have another ruck option. Dunnell for Ray perhaps. Start Webster for crying out loud!! Wright should come straight back in so that creates an even bigger conundrum.

Given the love-in with several players they will most likely just swap Lenny for Wright and let us all down.....

Another ruck option? That would give us 4 ruck options in one team!!!

I want Geary to play a negative role AND hurt his opponent the other way.

Check out his stats compared to Jones this year, even from half back has more assists and is more often involved in the scoring chain. IMO he could grow into our run with player that can both attack and be able to defend on them if dragged forward.

Dempster usually gets Wells anyhow, last few times from memory.

Zeibell out, they won't have their usually midfield depth.

We have Geary and Dempster to play negating roles. Jones CAN play that role, but he shouldn't. He should be in specifically to compete for clearances.

Disagree

I remember luke was given the tagging tole in 07 but clearly didn't want it.

Ross picked up clint with his endurance, big body and work rate imo specifically to be developed into a tagger which overlooked his shortcomings.

....and he did a mighty fine job of it over the journey.

That is what he is though, and I think the increased pace of the game plan has not suited him, we need composure and good decision makers, clint thrived when Ross took the need for that out of the game.

TBH Haven't read any posts as I've just been so fed up with the loss on Sunday.

Time for a fresh start, last week everyone called the Maister's head, i said Nay, ye Piratey Scalleywags, as it was his first week, 2nd week 1 goal 1 for a tall forward isn't good enough, Dropped 2 sitters. Kosi needs one last chance, if he so much as even thinks about doing something undisciplined then he's gone, but still he's served us well (overall) over the years and deserves one more shot.

Lenny should be ok, saw him walking his dogs on Monday had a little talk with him and he seemed to walk alright but said he'd see how he'd go, and is hopeful for the Kangaroo's match.

Wright, well we've lost him and Gilbo, luckily he's back and fit, hopefully he gets straight into the side, Fazza Ray didn't do badly (saw a few peoples outs had him) but simply theres someone that can play that role/similar role better.

Armo should be back in from injury this week, if he is Hickey will make way as he has done his Hip and on the injury list is set as "test". Preffer to give him a week off then bring him back next week and makes sure he's 100% rather than him playing and getting injured for 3-4 weeks. This will put us back to 2 tall forwards with Sippa as a medium/tall aswell, overall think that's a better mix aswell.

Ross had 22 disposals and 6 tackles not a bad effort for a youngen keeps his spot.
Newnes did O.K not aswell as in past weeks I would consider giving Ledger/Dunell a go as the sub, but then again i love seeing Newnes run and tackle, reminds me a bit of Lenny...

Gwilt, not sure if he's been coping it, but i thought he was pretty average, some of the frees he gave away + positioning wasn't that great, maybe Simpkin to come in for him? I would consider it, but doubt it will happen.

Jones did O.k but well, we have too many of these O.K players, add in a youngen (like above maybe a Ledger of Dunell), as sub.

OUT: Maister, Ray, Hickey (inj/precaution), ???Newnes???
IN: Kosi, Wright, Armo, ???Ledger/Dunell???

3-4 About wright :p, coming off a loss to a bottom 4 side. If this lineup doesn't work we may have to consider reviving the mosquito fleet, with Milera coming back in. Also any inside info on Schneiderman? He's been 2-3 weeks (Hammy) on the injury list for about 5 weeks =S.

Yeah - you make a good point but I took Stanley out of the equation because he will be in the backline all day with either Petrie and or Black (a gun IMO). McEvoy will need to drop back a lot more than normal and Hickey will not be forward as much.

Yea I suppose, but id much rather just have 2 guys (Hickey/Macca) and have our forward just concentrate on kicking goals. If Stanley plays on Petrie then he should just follow him around all day, even if thats into the ruck.
