Fingers crossed nothing will change by Friday.

GEELONG football operations manager Neil Balme expects Paul Chapman to play in Friday night's preliminary final against the Bulldogs despite a back-related hamstring strain.

Chapman has had the injury for much of the second half of the season and has missed six games.

Balme said yesterday that Chapman would not have to prove his fitness to the match committee but just make it through training to be selected.

"He's just got to train like the rest of the players. You can't know what's going to happen between now and then (the game), but we do expect him to be right."

Balme added that James Kelly would almost certainly return from a quadriceps injury to replace Brent Prismall (knee).

Not gonna happen but how I'd love to see Chappy shut Akermanis' big mouth.

Hmmm SEN at training this arvo were saying Chappy is doubtful and will have to prove himself (think they said at our main training session, is that Tues?)

Kelly "95%" they said.

Wojac is right but they have to find a spot for him which might be hard to do.

i really really hope wojo is brought back for this match... as id really love to see him run down that griffen =]

shame i dont know who you'd pull out of the side?.. i suppose if you dont want to risk chappy.

If chappy gets through training then you would think (hope) he's right to go. It does suck though when chappy's in a game tearing it up (like the Hawthorn game), then you see him at half time walking off the ground in his trakkie.

Has anyone heard any inside info on Chappy from the closed training session this morning, the closed session was this morning yeah?

Reading between the lines on Bomber's comment yesterday I think Chapman might be very doubtful.

Paraphrased: 'I think Chappie will be okay to play but we'll make the right decision for the side later in the week. We don't want to make a decision which would see the team one short on the bench' (ie, if he's unlikely to see the game out he won't be named).

Bit of a worry with Stokes seemingly struggling for form, Kelly and Wojo lacking match fitness/practice, Chappie with a sus hammie. Fingers crossed that Gamble steps up. If he gets a gig and plays well he would be a good chance for a GF place assuming Cats make it.

I'm a bit worried about Chappy. I can just see that hammy twanging if he plays on fri. Hopefully he'll sit it out unless he is infact 100% ready to go. Hate to see him injure it early and then miss the GF if we win.

I'm quite worried about Chappy's body as he ages - he is becoming very injury prone in that stocky chunky unit he carries round.
