Will be interesting to see if the new CEO in 2021 will have the same amount of faith in Chris as Brian seems to haveBy signing him to this length contract anything less than a flag over the next 4 years should be seen as a failure.

Has a feeling of more of the same about it.Talked about stability in the coaching group. That worries me a bit as 'same old same old' is arguably an issue.
All you can ask is that the man in charge is invested and wants nothing more than to win. You only need to see his reactions to see how invested he is. I'd hate to have a camera on me when I'm home yelling at the plasma. Reckon I'd make Scotty look cool calm and collected.
I wouldn't say this was a good thing. You're a fan at home, he's the head coach. They need to make calm, controlled decisions, not lose their mind every five minutes.
I've been growing more pessimistic about the overall way the club is being run and what the goals are. This just reeks of a decision to benefit off-field, rather than on-field. Chris Scott is a safe, risk-free coach, throw in the way the club has drafted and recruited during his time and they've set a foundation to stay competitive and be a middling team, and that's all. Financially, Scott is an ideal coach, he will keep Geelong competitive, most likely throughout his entire tenure. By 2022 the core leaders of this current group will be reaching their retirements and they will continue to top up through trades and free agency. Membership will stay strong, GMHBA Stadium will stay packed and it will ensure decent revenue each year.
While this all happens off-field, on-field they'll be the same team they've been since 2012. They will never truly threaten for a premiership or even Grand Finals. It will be year after year of finals exits, questioning whether the list is good enough and who we need to bring in from other clubs to improve.
They've become a club happy to be around the mark, which seems rather pointless and frustrating.
This quote is very very dense with meaning in the context of Chris Scott debates.“The AFL’s equalisation measures are there to force successful clubs down the ladder, so to have come through this period and to remain in contention year in year out has been a credit to Chris and his coaching group.
Listening to Cook on radio on the weekend it’s a forward looking assessment. They simply think he’s an excellent coach who is best placed to steer the ship. Cook even said something like “even if we go through a transition phase” which I took to mean something resembling closer to a traditional rebuild.Obviously the club is happy with our recent results..happy with the way we are going ..happy with working with CS.
Its either a smart tactical move or a confirmation that there is one big gravy train inside the club where results do not really matter as long we are not ordinary to bad.
Nah, the parties are just mutually happy to continue. In their eyes nothing gained from waiting. Can only think that a club like Freo where he has a history might have been sniffing around which is why the club locked him in no rather than letting the existing contract run into next year and then judge efforts on that form.
In 2011. You may have forgotten but I certainly haven't."Chris has shown himself to be one of the best coaches in the AFL"
Ummmm...when exactly was that!!!!
Personally i wanted to get Hinkley back to Geelong, think he would do a 10 times better job than Scott but oh well the club has backed itself into this corner now so they will have to deal with the fallout when we fail to make finals next season and beyond. No Imagination, no chance of a flag, gonna be a boring 4 years.
Listening to Cook I don’t think the club will see it that way at all.
