Im hoping sam frost slips through to pick 33 i like the look of this kid and would fit into hawthorns future plans of a CHB needs to put on about 5 6 kg of muscle but that will come when his body matures Hawks get on sam frost

Im not a big fan of Greene. Much prefer Grigg, Mckenzie types but maybe its just the silky left footers. Also prefer Adams. Greene can find plenty of the football, but just dont think he has a massive impact is small and looks like he has a 40m kick on him.

Grigg at 46?!

YIIIPPPPEEEEEE!!!!! :D

Ahem, moving on...

Tomlinson would be a very good buy for us at 27, he fills a HUGE need and would slot into our lineup straight away. Would like to get either Bevan or Motlop at 64. Both can still play and will, again, be in our best 22.

Greene is a good clearance player which is really important these days, I am almost 100% positive he can kick 50-55 metres.

He could kick 45-50 metres on the run when he played under 14's

I added a new post to the opening page. My top 10s based on position.

Position Rankings

Tall Defenders

1. Fraser McInnes
2. Andrew Boseley
3. Adam Tomlinson
4. Sam Frost
5. Michael Talia
6. Jordan Lockyer
7. Brody Mihocek
8. Henry Schade
9. Michael Bussey
10. Aseri Raikiwasa

This group is very much potential at this stage. The only one who has really shown consistent signs down back would be Talia. Which is why I can see him going in the first round, and he would probably be the most ready to go of the KPDs too.

Tomlinson and Frost offer a lot in terms of versatility, and an ability to get involved in attacking from the back lines. Frost in particular is one of those guys who always back himself in, like a Luke McPharlin. These two have talent, and will go higher than what their performances may warrant.

One player I didn't include was Jordan Kelly, because I'm not sure whether he will truly be a KPD. I don't have that concern with Lockyer or Mihocek despite their similar sizes.

As for Bussey, I've always preferred him down back. He looks more natural down there.
Is Michael Hartley not good enough to make your top 10 or have you deliberately excluded him because he is Collingwood's property.

Somebody has to ask.... Thoughts post Manson's 10 goal haul on Sunday?

Not a lot has changed.

I've posted elsewhere, but there was never any question over Manson's ability. He is a real talent. What he does, he does very well. Having said that, he has yet to play against genuine defenders. Fevola had the bigger body on him yesterday, and Manson was left with Mitch Taylor and David Kruse - they're 190cm on a good day. Doesn't seem to have the greatest contested game, and doesn't always seem to look all that interested when he isn't a chance to kick a goal.

But this is off two NTFL games. Nowhere enough to get a proper picture on him, and not the highest level of football either. I'm happy with keeping him where I have him. If I paid attention to how many picks each team will have, it would change. But for now, he can stay as a late round selection.

He could go anywhere. Someone might pounce early, probably West Coast given the gap between their picks during the middle rounds. Or perhaps Fremantle might try to trump the Eagles. I still don't think an interstate team will go inside the top 30, especially with Claremont not having the easiest time getting him down for WAFL. But it's impossible to say how Manson will make the transition to full time footballer - plenty of people have said they are committed in the past, but can't do it.

Sounds alot like another Troy Taylor situation with this kid, All the talent in the world but cant be stuffed working.

Afl clubs really have woken up to this type of player and wont risk a high pick inside 50 i dont think.

Did you put Mitch Brewer in? Should go late in the ND or in the RD, Have you seen him?

Seen a bit, but wont feature unless I continued with the rookie draft. Unless you're 210cm+ plus, a ruckman weighing in at around 115kg probably doesn't have a place on a senior list. For a rookie list spot, you could do a lot worse.

Is Michael Hartley not good enough to make your top 10 or have you deliberately excluded him because he is Collingwood's property.

He'd be outside my 10. Without thinking too much about, he'd probably find his way in before 15.

Well done Chris.
What do you think about Lockyer possibly being able to play midfield?
Attacks the ball, is a strong body, has good pace and acceleration, a nice sidestep and good skills.
I believe it was Royal Eagle on the WC board that supposed that he could play a role similar to Mundy?

I also thought about this a while a go. I actually thought more in the mould of nathan Fyfe on a wing. As you said all his assets point to him being able to play midfield albeit probably off a wing rather than in the guts like Mundy. Some clubs may see him to small for a KPP but see his potential as an outside mid. Played all his junior footy as a midfielder before growing than developed into a forward and played most of his last 2 years as a defender. Although for WAFL seniors he mainly played off a wing and did pretty well.

I was just looking at players that could be a potential Fyfe scenario and he is one that comes to the top of that list. Needs to work on his engine, Fyfe has an awesome engine and from what i know it certainly isnt a strength or Lockyers more a thing to work on.

Yeah, interesting point.

I have no issue with his height for playing as as CHB, so it's not something I've really thought about. But he could play a role in the midfield - and has done it in the past with WA. He does have good speed and he moves well, but I would probably still think of him more in the Rooke/Pavlich mould. Doesn't have the smarts of a Mundy or the talent and versatility of Fyfe. A big-bodied, bustling type midfielder isn't a negative or anything - just playing to his natural aggressive style.

Think he'd be more of an impact player through the midfield.

I think if he goes top 30, still think either Carlton will grab him or Eagles will grab him with pick 28.
I doubt that Carlton will risk pick 22 on a bolter because you think we need a tall forward. We never use an early pick to draft a player who hasn't performed against the best and his peers. If Manson is that good, then Freo who have picks 16 and 20, will snap him up. The Dockers need tall forwards more than Carlton.

He's travelled to Perth for WAFL, Melbourne for the combine, nominated for the draft and gone to Darwin to play NTFL in the last few months to pursure an AFL career. Hasn't been going around belting people, stop talking out of your arse.

Sin was right though. Why do you say he is like Troy Taylor? Because he is indigenous? Fact is Taylor had serious behavioural issues and Richmond knew he would be a big risk. Manson has no such history.

Also why do you think he isn't committed. What Sin said regards all the travelling he's done is common knowledge. That should tell you straight away that he wants it.

He wasn't suggesting Manson is a similar person to Taylor. Think it was in response to me saying that Manson doesn't appear to work as hard when there is no chance for him to kick a goal. Obviously as a Richmond fan, he thought Taylor was similar - serious talent, who didn't work hard enough.

Also, everyone who gets drafted wants it. Otherwise they wouldn't have nominated. Taylor wanted it, but being a professional footballer wasn't what he expected and he didn't cope. There is no way of predicting how Manson will go - will just have to wait and see.

#13 Sydney – Matthew Jupp (191cm defender – East Fremantle)

Full back in the Colts team of the year this season, Jupp is a solid if unspectacular player. Just tends to go about his business, does look to lack just a yard or two of pace so can get caught out by the more mobile forwards. But he manages to get around that and defends well, and can also play further up the ground at CHB.

#16 Hawthorn – Cameron Symonds (201cm ruckman – East Fremantle)

19 year old Colts ruckman, and unlike most of the guys he comes up against he is actually a ruckman – not a KPP who has been thrown in the middle because he is over 190cm. Needs to have more of an impact around the ground and up forward, but he already has the size so there is enough to work with.

Best posts of the thread. :thumbsu:

Thanks Chris .................... Life in the B?F forum is really difficult sometimes.

If I was GWS I'd take Coniglio ahead of Patton only because it will reduce the pressure on Patton for the first couple of yrs as he will no doubt take longer to come on than Coniglio who is ready to play. GC seemed to do a similar thing with Day and the amount of media attention he got is minimal compared to Watts a couple of yrs earlier.
