He's got all the tools to have a good year. After all it is a bloody good effort to come runner up in the Magarey medal.

Hope he has a Broughton type year.

lower looks a barlow clone really, although im certainly not saying he will have the impact. clancy looks like he could be a dominant wafl player or a bit part afl player, and that is mainly because he just seems too slow :( he reads the play well, but doesnt have the speed to back it up

Is it me or do I remember a passge from Nab rd 1 where Pearce was chasing a WC player from the centre and was closing him down?

Noice... :D

Congrats to Nick - a solid consistent year will see a permanent elevation for 2012 no doubt.

Clancee still a big chance to come in for Morabito, even though he missed out on the "nominated" rookie position.

Yeah, Roberts info has been a bit light on so far this offseason. I think it's probably been a case of managing him through his first AFL preseason, the last thing we want is a soft tissue injury. He looked good in training when the team came over here for the Adelaide game though.

But I think I've talked him up enough to make up for the lack of actual news. The guy just looks like an AFL footballer, and everyone will see what the fuss is about soon enough.
Being a Norwood fan, I've seen plenty of Roberts, and obviously Lower. Lower's one of my favourite footballers and I told you he'd be an awesome recruit. I'm still spewing the Crows didn't pick him up. Ball magnet, tough as nails, outstanding overhead, strong tackler, he's got everything. Sometimes his decision making can be poor and he's prone to the odd error by foot, but he does more than enough each game to make up for it. Superb footballer.

As for Roberts, he oozes potential, but he's going to be a late bloomer. Really struggled in the SANFL seniors last season, looked overmatched. You're right though, the upside is obvious. Tremendous athlete, super quick, beautiful kick of the footy, he just needs to be locked in the gym and try to avoid injuries. I don't see him playing AFL until 2013, but he's one of these guys that could be a really damaging player due to his athleticism and penetrating kick, a real line breaker. The perfect rookie pick.

Congrats Nick.

Now thats MY buddy for 2011 everyone. We need some grunt in the mid-field due to losing Mora and hopefully Mr. Lower will provide this. I'm thinking this is a the smart play rookie elevation for Freo'.

Great news! :thumbsu: You can never have to many in and under players so that's a great promotion, great job Nick!

So has Lower been playing midfield for you guys?

He never really got a chance there for Port unfortunately. Despite dominating the midfield at SANFL level the AFL coaches had him pegged as a defender. I will be very interested to see how he goes there.

He is a footballer that the fans will love. He gives his all on the field, is very physical and team oriented. His kicking and decision making does let him down at AFL level though.

I can imagine him becoming a derby specialist.
