Cleanout Time

Sorry waiting to see a little more than just intensity out of Goldsack and Blair.
How about skill, composure and consistency.
Thanks Yahweh.

Reid, Shaw, Harry had stinkers.

Williams was brilliant, the pick of the bunch with Swan. He is a clam. I can't wait for him to maybe move into the midfield. And I don't get the Goldsack hate, or Blair for that matter. The last 3 all show great intensity.

Delist and trade everyone.

Scott Pendlebury kicked it out on the full. Clearly not AFL standard, delist.
Travis Cloke can't even mark the ball when he's only got three blokes hanging off him, trade.
Jarryd Blair missed a set shot from 30m out, delist.
Dayne Beams can only play half a season, injury prone, trade.
Brodie Grundy is only able to match it with the best rucks on any given day, great trade value.
Ben Reid can't kick six goals every game, delist.

Clearly we are no good and desperately need to delist and trade everyone so we can start again. We're just no good and need a complete clear out from top to bottom.

Great thread.

coaches are ****ing useless

Wingard was on his own the whole game

Experiment with keeffe up forward for the first time in the finals?

We are in the middle of a rebuild, get new coaches and play the young guys and aim for a 2015 flag

You need a quality tall backman, a ruckman and another tall forward to have any hope of making the 8 next year. Maxwell, Brown, Keeffe, Goldsack and Macaffer are not AFL standard and should be delisted.
Goldsack was one of our best tonight. But yes you are right in saying there is some dead wood. It's far from panic stations but we need to acquire some skill and athleticism.

I think it's time we phased out everyone over 25 and started afresh. Maybe we could ask the AFL for a priority pick?

The examples you refer to here are?
We need no examples. Lets not let facts get in the way of a good doomsayers thread. Lets get our pitchforks and fire then head down to the Westpac Centre!

The coaching was very poor tonight.

What game were u watching???

Led up to the ball by his opponent all night, like the previous 6 weeks and doesnt impact contests anymore. My patience with him is well and truly over. Trade him now!!!!

Fast track frost and oxley

It's time for Maxwell to step down as captain. Keep him in the leadership group and he can be a voice on the field... but it's time he was picked on merit.

JT, Elliott, Seedsman and Williams have all been good developers this year. Grundy obviously. A fit D Thomas and Toovey will make a big difference going into next season.

I'd keep Jolly if we can retain him on mediocre pay for another season. We're losing Hudson, and Witts lacks a bit at this stage in his career. We have some great building blocks but some insurance is needed.

It's a shit way to end the season but realistic supporters could see we were a long way off Hawthorn, would find Geelong a helluva challenge and would struggle playing Freo on the road. We need to get better across the board to be a flag contender again.

Ah yes, I see the head in sand brigade is out in force tonight. We'll just ignore all of our faults and pretend that 'we'll just come good' over the summer. Might as well throw in a few outlandish statements to try and make ourselves look superior as well. Never mind the fact that judgements are being made on players based on 1-2 years of form or lack thereof. Never mind the fact that the same question marks have been hanging over certain players' heads for a long time now.

Yeah, let's just close our eyes, stick our fingers in our ears and recite cliches all preseason until the penny finally drops when we struggle again in 2014.

We still have a pretty good list!! No need to go haywire. Really need couple of good hard crumbing forwards and good hard running half backs. Seedsman and Elliot are too soft and will be list cloggers!!!

Heath Shaw can go. Didak can go. Heath Shaw can go. Maxwell can give up captancy and fight for spot. Heath Shaw can go.

Did I mention Heath Shaw can be trade bait?

At least we don't need a team to be barred from the 8 to be any hope of making it...
Piss of to the collingwood lite board and worry about acquiring a full roster of players for your own hopes of making the 8.

I actually think we need to do the opposite. Every year since 2010 we have had heavy list changes, and that may be part of the problem. We need to let the team settle and give them time to gel together as a team, rather than constantly having readjust to new players.

I do think maybe a clean out of our assistant coaches may be in order.

So you think having Toovey fit and playing would have saved the day?

I think having everyone that was injured, including Thomas, Toovey, Didak, Keefe, Beams, Young, etc fit and firing from the start of the season and onwards would have seen us finish higher than 6th and got us over the line tonight - yes.

It's not as bad as most of you think.

Everything that could have gone bad this season did. Let's just hope the stars align for us next season - even then it will be tough, as only 1 team out of 18 can win the flag. We still have all the tools, just need minimal interruptions and distractions like we had in 2010

We should throw everything and the kitchen sink at the Giants for Tom Boyd. IIRC he can play ruck as well as being a second big man up forward. Would let Reid go back again and Keeffe as well.

The football department needs a clean out more than our list does.

We spend more money on our actual football department than we do on our players, we spend more money on our FD than anyone else yet;

WE AREN'T FITTER
WE AREN'T SMARTER
WE AREN'T STRONGER
WE AREN'T FASTER

And we don't seem to develop our youngsters as quick as some others.

I'd like a clean slate of the footy department around Bucks (who no matter what anyone says will get one more year at least). If Buttifant wants to piss off, let him. Hine is the only "must keep" there.

On behalf of opposition supporters who watch football, let me be the first to let you guys know that Heath Shaw's trade value is exceptionally low

Would you please log on as a Collingwood supporter and re-post that comment...
