IMO, if we don't get Young, will keep the cap space open for 2014.

I'm sure we will have a few players coming out of contract- namely Daisy so there's no need to just chase anyone just because we will have some $$$ available.

It will be Clinton Young as our last recruit or nothing.

Maybe we are lining ourselves up for a play at The General Patton who comes out of contract at the end of 2013?

I read the Geoff Walsh comments and from what I can see all he said is that we won't be trading any more and don't want to lose any of our picks. Signing a free agent is totally different though.

The lack of news coming on Young IMO means that there are still negotiations in place regarding his contract. He may be happy to come to the Pies but may be pushing for more money which makes me think that it won't happen. He would be best 22 at the Pies but not a player we should throw everything at just to get him as a free agent.

They clearly have some money left in their cap which they were otherwise going to give YOung and with a few going next year I am now happy we have the space to keep everyone and then potentially go and hit a young player from up north or get some via FA (or combo of both).

TD - you should be very much looking fwd to the list of FA released for 2013......you spend a year speculating who we may target etc.

Either he has already committed elsewhere or Collingwood is jack of waiting for his decision.

Ultimately we now have a healthy amount of $$$ stashed away to make a possible play for a big name next season.

Why couldnt the reporter just simply ask "What about Clinton Young, are you still pursuing him through Free Agency or are yopu shutting up shop for the rest of the trade/FA period?"

Doesn't explain the change of heart. We were aggressively pursuing Young for the first 2 weeks of free agency and now all of a sudden we have done an about face. I want to know why.

Hmmm, not overly convinced anymore that we are in our premiership window just yet, certainly not far away. With 3 high round draft picks, maybe being more realistic is that our premiership window is 2014 - 2017
