Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

More so the guys like pendles, steele, howe. You wouldn't say they got better during the trade period. Lack of leg speed hurt them late in the season. There wouldn't be too many experts tipping them to improve in pre season predictions.

People thought we go backwards last year and we did not

Surely has to be the last year for Pendles, side bun and Howe.
There is much speculation. They are football addicted. Pendles ability to be an on field coach is a different aspect that may lead to another year. Sidey has said he will play while valued. Howe has changed direction due to injury and recovery. He has spoken about the huge effort to get on the ground. My view is they will play while they are quicker than my scooter. They better be careful, I’m brutal.

Will be the end of two of them IMO, what two remains to be seen.
Maybe all three, who knows. Its pretty clear this is Howe's last year, when they spoke of his new contract having a coaching element attached to it once he is done.

Howe is almost certain to Leave end of season

Depends how Steele and Pendles go this year IF they play on in 2027

Be a shame if the last memories of them are them being slow and continually getting caught.

Or playing in the reserves. WHE played his final season in the VFL. He wasn’t a top top liner but a premiership player and 250+ games. It hurt to watch. 😟😟😟

IF that is Happening I say they would Retire but IF they keep playing well they can go another year

Why wasnt hill traded ? If hes partner or ex partner has relocated to wa, surely even Robinson Crusoe could work out that environment, been 4000kms away from your kids is not going to allow you to play your best footy. Its 2026, not 1990, where youd be expected to suck it up and play. Collingwood could have got a top 10 pick in return from a wa club or a young player back, hes value would have to be similar to Bolton.

It actually would have been a mature convo to have with him and best outcome for playet and club. What we have now, is a player unlikely to play certainly the early part of the season and for hes trade value to drop to a second round pick if tney are lucky.

The bottom line was that Hill didn't want to leave and Collingwood respected that.

That's true although the reality is he didnt want to leave because he knew he could take personal absences and still get paid. This is where aflpa policy is a problem.

He wanted to stay at Collingwood and I guess Collingwood at that Time did not want to Trade Him.

He is still under contract so we can really push him out

Though IF this keeps up might be different after the 2026 Season

I think the mature convo should have been we'd love to keep you bobby but your kids are in wa, thats not a great outcome for your mental well-being, I think theres the feeling he wont play much already this year and hes got zero trade value next year.

Theres genuine discussions that he wont come back to Victoria at all.

Did he have much trade value last year? Freo surely don't need more of those types and would WCE even do it at their point in development?

Can't blame the Pies trying to get him right both on and off the field. Whatever happens retires a Norm Smith Medallist in a Premiership side.

You could have got a player for him though at freo or West Coast. West Coast need as much talent as possible through the door.

Why would Freo want another small/half forward especially one where you are guessing whether he even steps foot on a training field let alone an AFL game? You are wasting a list spot on a hail mary. Freo are meant to be contending you don't waste list spots if you do that!

WCE would be beyond bonkers to waste a draft selection. Maybe as a delisted player where he could play for Peel or whatever in the hope of a MSD selection, but I DON'T SEE WHY WCE waste draft capital on a player like that. They have Owies as that experienced forward they traded in and at least you can say with Owies he'll play round 1...you are wanting WCE to trade in a player or out resources for a guy that more than likely is done with the sport.

The Pies are different, they can take that risk and hope he cares enough to be available at some point in time this year

I think it's fine if we gave up a future 2nd rounder(at best) for Hill but anything beyond that and they can pay his wages to sit in Perth for the next 3 years. We certainly do need more depth in that part of the ground, however we're not in a rush to add at a premium any time soon.

That pick could be in the top 30 no offence I like what WCE are doing but a future second for a bloke that in all likelihood doesn’t play? It’s a complete Hail Mary on him playing. Sure a token 5th rounder in a who cares pick you’d maybe roll the dice but then wouldn’t you rather just add another piece that you can use long term?
