Collingwood are anything but shoe-ins, are they in trouble?

Has a team ever been 10 pts clear on top only to miss top 4 and eliminated first week? Without looking i think not.
Strap yourself in old boy, pies about to make some history!

They certainly are a chance to make some history.

You are in la la land. They are finished and will be lucky to make a semi final.

First part incorrect. We are not finished.
Second part correct. We will not play in a semi final.

Personally, I could never have predicted that a team of pensioners would struggle to finish the season strongly.

With every has-been that gets re-signed for 2026 I will be cheering.

Too old too slow hey

Happy for you guys to keep him. And Mcstay. And Perryman. And Houston. And Long. And Quaynor. And Membrey.

All the blokes that Pendles and Sidey have had to cover for this year and in years gone by.

Enjoy your remaining two matches this season.

We certainly will enjoy our last two matches of the year.

Reckon they are cooked. They might win a final, but are no flag threat. We will look back in 12 months and realise that July 2025 was when they fell off the cliff. It will be a hard, hard fall with such an old list. A very long rebuild. Not sure McFly is the man for that job. He will explode.

Hmmm the old cliff

Pies have a system for finals. Elite handball and transition game, excellent contested game, consistency across every line, and very disciplined and well coached.

I think the competition will be stiffer in two weeks but they have a system that works. I still think they’ll make a GF if they’re good enough!

They will make the gf if whoever they play in the prelim keep kicking it to Moore all night and kick long down the line. I don't think they'll get that luxury in the prelim. Crows showed their finals inexperience last night.

Which of Geelong, Brisbane, Freo or GC do you have the Pies beating in the prelim?

I agree that premiership experience + home prelim, JDG back and firing makes them a tough proposition. Reckon their prelim will be a 50/50 game though.

Can’t see GC or Fremantle. I think if they made a PF then the inexperience might get to them. Fremantle less so but I don’t believe they’ll beat Collingwood. Collingwood have a brilliant defence. Maynard and Moore were huge last night.

Brisbane are so enigmatic. Their best is potentially 6 goals better than any other side but they are somewhat inconsistent at times.

I think either Geelong or Brisbane can do it, genuine 50/50 if either side plays them. From what I saw last night the handball game Collingwood brought was immense. Transition was so good. They have elite finishers for goal as well. I think whoever has a more defensively competent forward line can beat them. Adelaide’s midfield doesn’t bat as deep. You can’t be kicking to Moore either, so delivery into 50 has to be sharp to take Moore out. Cameron and Neale will be a handful for him if Geelong kick straight.

What is the defensive strength of Geelong’s forwards? Can they tackle, chase, and pressure the Collingwood ball movers?

Genuinely intriguing. I wouldn’t put it past Hawthorn doing sons damage either, I think they’ll make a PF.
