Collingwood are anything but shoe-ins, are they in trouble?

I don't think any team has lost five of its last ten matches and gone on to win the flag. (I checked manually back as far as WWII).

Four teams since 2000 have finished top-4 after losing five of their last ten - GWS 2019 and Bulldogs 2021. Both were mauled in the grand final.
What about 5 of their last 7?

(Assuming Pies beat Dees next week)

If Collingwood can get within 3 points on the road with average umpiring on both sides of the ledger then they can certainly win the flag. I’ve got them fourth with a trip to Adelaide in the QF. They’ll win that and then it’s a home PF.

I am still backing Collingwood to make the GF.

If 'falling off a cliff' is being 4th on the ladder with one game of the home and away season remaining, with 3 recent losses being by less than a goal, I hope we fall off a cliff every year for eternity...
Has a team ever been 10 pts clear on top only to miss top 4 and eliminated first week? Without looking i think not.
Strap yourself in old boy, pies about to make some history!

The anti Collingwood hype has got egg and faces all over it. Posters emotional about Collingwood’s recent form but they aren’t losing by much. I dislike them a lot but I respect their moneyball approach and buy in to the system.

We should get a Collingwood v Brisbane / Geelong GF.

I still think Collingwood salute this year.

You are in la la land. They are finished and will be lucky to make a semi final.

Finishing 4th isn't in Collingwoods control. They can win by 150 points next week and still finish 5th
That's incorrect. It will most likely come down to % between them and suns. Benefit for suns is once pies play melbourne suns have 2 games to make up any % gap, with the last game against Essendon most likely a bloodbath.

Their last 3 scores are 65, 46 and 56. That's not the formline of a contender

I think that's false, at least with GC losing this weekend.

Adelaide and Geelong will finish ahead of them. Brisbane can with a win over Hawthorn. But everybody else can only tie Collingwood on points and if Collingwood win like that, they'll win on percentage and finish fourth.

Won’t matter. Adelaide kicked 59 last night. You think they are contending?
Well they're not in great form. Should've got done by the Eagles last week and just about scraped home last night. Their back six are amazing though, they win so many critical one v ones and their forwards don't need many opportunities to score. Can't say that about the Pies. North could be a tougher game for the Crows than everyone expects final round though

I think Collingwood experienced players will step up come finals

adel defence is very strong and under rated.
they also have many avenues to goal

I was thinking last night that all the little things seemed to be going against Collingwood. Missed marks, critical umpiring decisions late (they got the rub early), things a bit off...and felt luck and maybe had turned against them, and some might say it's karma or the footy gods. Lost another close one and seem to have lost their aura about coming back/winning. They also look very ineffective going in forward. Elliott has been shut down pretty well. Mihocek shut down, DeGoey ineffective. McCreery just got back so we can give him a pass. Fox Footy still reckons Bobby Hill is going to suddenly fix everything.

North can be dangerous, they better not take it lightly like they did us.

If they win by 150 they will finish 4th

It is mostly in their control

If they win by 150, then they make the top 4 providing:

GC don’t beat Port (away, Hinkley last game) and ESS by aggregate 180 points

Even if they do that, they still make the top 4 if Haw beat Lions by less 150 points

Que? Neither of those teams made the top 4.

The closest example for a premier is probably Geelong 2009, who lost 4 of their last 9 and won another 3 games by under a goal.

The only likely way Hawthorn or Collingwood are making top four is if Gold Coast loses to Port next week. Does anyone think that's happening?
