What would if everyone think if I started a cricket design comp? It would cover ODI, Twenty20, BBL and IPL. Leave a like you you would be interested

I might have some IPL tricks up my sleeve.

Its a good idea Haro but theres to many Comps Running ATM

NAFL, IFJ, NRLCO, Non Sports logo of the fortnight, Sports logo of the fortnight and Warm-up top Wednesday. Room for one more?

I'd hang on to it for a bit, at least until after the new year.

The "too many comps running at the moment" thing is a furphy. Provided the people running the comps put in the time and effort into running and advertising their comps then the comps will succeed.

NAFL is finished in terms of designing, or at least it would be if people would get their bloody entries in. Just because voting is happening doesn't mean any designing is going on.

I like the league style competitions like NAFL, but they are mainly about voting and showcasing best designs. It's basically a free for all in terms of design scope. Assuming your design is accepted, you can do whatever you want provided you enter a logo and a couple of guernseys.

Week to week comps are a bit more structured and give people a better opportunity to work to a design brief, usually. It also means you can have a crack at something new every week/fortnight instead of designing one thing that represents you for the next several months of voting.

While the idea of people who have never been to the board arriving and starting stupid comps like "design a new brisbane lions guernsey" with their first post here is annoying, they can be easily taken care of by the mods. If someone is a regular on the board and is going to put the time and effort in to run a comp, let them IMO.

But they have to put the time and effort in.

Would anyone be interested in a sort of re-designish comp, like in soccer how majority of the team change all their jerseys each year. Do this for AFL teams, whole new set of jumpers that can be traditional but slightly different to the current or a completely bold new design.

Can I just restate how much I love this idea.

This would be such a good comp. Throw out the idea that AFL guernseys shouldn't change a lot between seasons and go crazy with collar styles, switching colours around etc.

The design brief wouldn't be about totally redesigning a guernsey. Usually the basic elements (sash, stripes, Vs, hoops) would stay the same, but the trimming could be changed significantly.

A lot of clubs do this sort of thing with an away or clash strip I guess, but it would be a lot of fun to treat the AFL like soccer and see what we could come up with for the new guernseys each year.

So something like a new Clash/Alternate uniform for each club rather than changing the home?

No every jumper would be slighly or completely different, depending on the designers choice.

Imagine describing a guernsey in very broad terms to a person who had never seen it before, then asking them to mock it up on a template.

If I said to you Geelong wear navy and white hoops, design a geelong guernsey, and you'd never seen Geelong before, your imagination could run pretty wild while still staying within that scope. I mean look at Collingwood and Port Adelaide magpies. Both wear black and white vertical stripes but the guernsey designs are fairly distinct.

Barcelona wear red and blue vertical stripes, right? http://www.barcaloco.com/kit-history/ Have a look at the variations on that theme over the past decade or two so of home shirts.

What Cat Attack is proposing is for us as designers to take that sort of fresh design attitude and apply it to football guernseys.

Essendon wear black with a red sash. Carlton have a monogram. Hawthorn wear brown and gold vertical stripes. Gold Coast wear red with a gold trim. That would be all the design brief you'd get, and you'd be able to run wild and be as creative as possible.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Barcelona is the perfect example. I would love to start running this comp for a few weeks to see the amount of entries. If the response isn't great then it will not continue.

The other bonus of this competition is, that it's AFL based. People will be designing Aussie rules guernseys for actual AFL clubs week in week out. There isn't currently another comp running where that occurs at the moment.

I think there isn't much Jumper Design Comps any more so maybe we could think about adding more?

Surely you are not serious?
Why dont you share your designs in the workshops? Its fun
