An insane amount of work and commitment needs to be done to ensure it runs smoothly, not to mention a dedicated manufacturer willing to support such a competition. But as craegus said, it will return, but they are very rare.

Exactly, and if it were to run all the time the specialness of it would be lost.

I'm thinking of running a little comp here on the FJGD board,
would like some feedback on what others think and if it would be successful. Or in fact it may have been done before.

- This will be run monthly - 2 weeks for entries, 2 weeks for polls
- Start of comp there will be 3 random colours given, each entry must contain 1 home Guernsey in these specific colours.
- Winner of the month will get to choose the 3 next colours for the following month.

It would be interesting to see the different designs that will come up using all the same colours.

I'm just gonna crack the whip a bit in regards to to the league style competitions.

I know Stewart2Austin is away for a bit, but both divisions of the Asia n Africa league finished about a week ago and we've seen and heard nothing. Fizzler what's going on?

St Mark appears to have abandoned the Copa America. That's fine, but can we get some sort of confirmation either way as to whether it's still active?

Spanna65 is doing pretty well with the CCRC now, but make sure you continue to get in there and tag the people who haven't submitted entries. Get on top of that slot that's opened up quick smart. Tag a few people who might be interested but aren't in for whatever reason. It's crunch time, given that 75% of people have submitted and are waiting for it to begin.

The Can-Am now that it's running seems to be going pretty well.

It is a huge effort to run a competition like this, and you have to be pretty on the ball to do so. I'm pretty sure in the first couple of years I was on this board I started a competition that I didn't finish because life got in the way. Just make sure you're keeping everyone updated, have contingency plans in place should someone pull out or whatever, and stick to your schedule as best you can.

It haven't been able to, S2A has most Xuetu and a few Gaoji entries that I dont so I haven't been able to post the threads.

I don't think that we should restrict this to just colours. I would like to see this expanded to possibly including cities, countries, or nicknames.

Just another thought and idea I have had for this competition.

All entrants must PM me their designs so that No one will see each others until the Poll. This way no one can get ideas or concepts off other designs.

Anyway this is ready to go, So if Mods can let me know when all good and I will start.

That's fair enough, It's good to hear feedback.
I tried to keep it simple, make it a comp for everyone. I thought it would be interesting to see what different designs would be entered when everyone has the same details.
But if you have any suggestions to make this better I would be happy to hear them and take them on board

Good. That gives us all almost free rein with the design. That being said, the winner each week could be as broad or as strict as they'd like with the theme

The cool thing about comps is how they make you work within constraints. That's the way I see it. When it's that broad you could basically say it's a monthly version of the 'create a random jumper' thread.

Come up with a number of colours, locations, nicknames, etc before the competition starts. Allocate each one a number, then randomly draw 2-3 colours, a location, a nickname and whatever else every round. Then you have a bunch of unusual combinations coming up throughout the competition, making the focus of the competition on who can make the best of a bad situation, so to speak.

I had a similar thought.

Have ten categories (colours, animals, motifs like Power, Heat etc, locations and so on) with ten elements in that category. So ten colours and 10 animals. Randomise this list so that only the competition runner and an understudy (if the comp runner can't run it for a while) know what it is. Each week the winner picks a number between 1-100 and that's the next theme.

They're just all at the same time I think. If we actually spread them out and didn't overlap everything, we'd be better off

I think that we don't have too many comps, we have just the right amount. They could be scheduled better so they don't conflict so much and so there's one going at all times, but I think going worldwide is pretty cool, but as a board we should go through and get it working cohesively.
I suggest making the CAN-AM North and South America, NAFL stays the same, FIRA Europe, and AnAL stays the same

I've been asking people how they feel about using monikers in Theme Thursdays for a while now, if there's interest for them then I'll gladly allow the winner to pick a moniker for the next rounds teams.
I'm also open to changing to a number system if this doesn't get through.
or even if the winner picks a number, or something that they've thought of that's not on the list.
