Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

All of those places at once seems a bit forced.

What would be cool, following the quick fire premise of this and the Fantasy League by akkaps, would be rotating continents. Ie do Africa first, then the next time you run the comp do Asia, etc.

Edit: totally skimmed over the above posts sorry lol

I'm in whatever the format.

Bringing this in from another thread:
This idea could go somewhere, it'd be interesting to see how would it go in practice. I get that you'd have two teams (state and/or AFL), but how would the teams be chosen?

Anyways, I feel we should move this to the competitions thread.

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

I figured club choice would be the same as COTJ/UFG in that the winner of the previous comp determines the teams chosen for the next comp.

With leagues popping up in this thread again I'll probably just put this on ice for a little while, but what would people think about getting a basketball competition up and going?

I haven't put too much thought into it, but I'd very much like it to be 'the people's comp' meaning y'all decide the specifics like:
  • Region restrictions - yea or nay
  • White home V.S coloured home
  • 82 round season - yea or nay
  • Conferences/ Divisions - yea or nay
  • Seniors/ Reserves - yea or nay
  • Uniform restrictions/ features - yea or nay

I'll even let you stupid mother ****ers decided the name of the comp!

So, FJ&GD, what of it?

I like the idea of a T20 comp Grandsun , but i'd suggest reducing the scale down a bit for your first season. 3 kits and a bunch of pool games for 8-10 teams from all over the world is a tall order.

My suggestion would be a re-designed Australian Big Bash where everyone plays each other once, and people only need to supply 1 kit. If that's successful, expand it the following season.

You could even get people to bid for a city and team name, then make a list of available colours and hold a mini-draft for so that everyone has a different primary colour and there are no clashes, if that makes sense

NM_Mitchell i'd absolutely enter but I wont be running it. Come back with an actual proposal and i'll like your post :)

craegus will tell you that too many divisions can be difficult because if people pull out late then you're scrambling for someone in the right area, but you could definitely do an East and West or North and South type of thing. At a quick guess, the easiest split in terms of population would be QLD/NSW/NT/ACT in the north and WA/SA/VIC/TAS in the south.

I'd suggest a revamped Australian NBL, given that the NBL is horrendously marketed. 82 round season would actually be really cool if you're prepared to do a round every day, but i'd suggest keeping it to a single or double round robin.

I'd suggest white away to give home teams an advantage in finals.

I'd suggest not a lot of uniform restrictions apart from a league logo and coloured home/white away.

But come up with your own proposal and i'll vote for it basically regardless of which (if any) of my suggestions you go with.

With the BBL on and with my Word T20 Circuit portfolio, I was hoping of starting up a Cricket Designing Comp.

Aussie Bash Cricket League (Other Names could be considered)

'Franchises' from Australia compete in a tournament where everyone plays each other once.

There will be no limit of teams to let as much people possible play. Once the Team numbers are announced then we will determine how many teams progress to the Finals Series to find out who is Champion!

Designers will be required to submit 1 T20 Cricket Kit (Shirt, Pants, Cap). A logo will also need to submitted.

Rules for the Kit will be must have a sponsor with presence in your chosen city/area. Sponsors are to be placed on chest and pants. Back Sponsor is not mandatory. A real-life manufacturer must appear on the kit somewhere. League Logo (To be designer maybe in a Vote) will need to be placed on Left Breast (like CWC) and on Left Side of Pants (like BBL) . Player Numbers and Names must appear on back with no set font.

We will hold a Colour Draft for Primary Colours so that there is NO COLOUR CLASHES. Draft Places will be decided in a Lottary.

Thoughts? Any interest?

I think we should REALLY consider doing a schedule for these competitions. I'm loving all these ideas and all, I really am, and I know not all of them are going to be accepted, but if we don't have these competitions evenly spread throughout the year, the casuals especially are going to be deterred from designing from this saturation of competitions. People are busy, and some people do struggle to get an entry in for say all three competitions running at a time. Perhaps having a competition window at the start of the year would help, so we could plan like a basic timetable of yearly events, but of course people come up with great competition ideas all year round so that's not exactly practical. I'm not sure, it's up to the mods, but the same thing has happened before. Maybe a "Competition Council" could make this work or something.

i rekon that would be a great idea cause some times there is a time when no comps are on and people get bored

A lot of it was tongue in cheek (82 rounds, letting others run my baby), but I am totally willing to try and get one going.
I was thinking more of an NBA style conference/ division set up, which I'll probably make up for a graphic anyway, although it'll be probably completely irrelevant to the actual comp.

I was thinking a global competition, I reckon it'd be pretty cool to see what people would pull out of a brand new Chicago team, and pitting it against a new Melbourne franchise. But I really don't want to make a ruling on this one before consulting what potential entrants want. Maybe all they do want is a new NBL.

Uniform restrictions I was thinking more design features, like if we went down a (potential) CAN-AM path of one supplier and used Adidas with the stripes or whatever, again, something I'd like to consult with potential entrants.

I'll pop up a proposal later on, but I really only wanted to gauge interest rather than go all in now.

I can 100% confirm that working with divisions within conferences is way too hard to work with. That is why the Can-Am went back to a two conference set up as it is far easier to schedule matches and aligning conferences while dealing with people pulling out at the last minute.

Loving seeing the creative juices flowing atm! I totally agree with El_Scorcho that a T20 comp, if we do one, should happen sooner rather than later. Basketball is a cool idea too NM_Mitchell, just flesh out a good proposal and we can go from there.

  • I’m looking at an East-West (or North-South) conference setting , having each team in the East play each other twice, home and on the road (vice-versa West), and depending on numbers, inter-conference matches will occur.

  • Coloured home kits

  • White road kits

  • Optional alternate kits (When and where it is worn will be up to you, however, the majority of your home games MUST be in your normal home kit. Same with your road games.)

  • Thinking about running a once-off court design round

  • I’ll try to fit in a season with more rounds, but consult with mods about shorter polls without too many in a shorter period of time clogging up the board. (New poll every second day, I’m thinking)

  • I’m thinking NOT having a single manufacturer, however this is open to change.

  • Sponsors appearing on kits are also optional, however will be limited to the NBA sponsorship locations appearing next season.

  • Logo is, of course, mandatory. Re-colours allowed, but I’d prefer you to make one up from scratch.

  • First season I’ll make this an AUSTRALIAN based comp, however, this is open for discussion as to allowing New Zealand/ South Eastern Asian and Pacific Island teams.

  • Region must have a minimum population of 70,000 to field a single team.

  • Region must have a population of AT LEAST 1,000,000 people (Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney) to have two teams. Which means almost every mainland capital city can have two, BUT Tasmania as a whole can only have one team

  • Region must have a population of AT LEAST 2,000,000 people (Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney) to have three teams.

  • Region must have a population of AT LEAST 4,000,000 people (Melbourne, Sydney) to have four teams.

  • However, I will be trying to get a greater spread of teams before placing more than two in a city.

  • All current and former NBL teams and inspiration from such teams will NOT be accepted. Please, make it your own team.

  • Make your own designs, don’t just re-colour an NBA kit!

To clarify on where certain amounts of teams can be placed, depending on numbers, the population of each state’s capital city counts for the entire state. For example, The population of Perth is 2,039,193, meaning all of Western Australia can have 3 teams.

So if Melbourne already has 3 teams, and someone takes a Ballarat team, There can be nothing else in Victoria.

I do not currently have any means of designing logos for this comp, so that will be open for anyone to make suggestions, and as such, I will be willing to change the name to fit your logo, however, I hold the right to ask you to change the name to what I think works better.

Don't worry about the region limits right now, I'll word it better if we get to the point where this goes ahead

Super keen!

Freight Train are you still into doing FLO again?

FLO will open for designs when FIRA closes for designs - there will be six weeks to put together your entries. So the season will run mid March to mid-late May.

Will it be the same set of kits as last season Freight Train (Home, Away, Cup, Heritage and GK)?

So once we have 10 do i just put a Bidding hub up?

You probably need to flesh out your proposal a bit better to get the votes. We have a few comp ideas on the go at the moment which is why I suggested keeping it to one kit.

You'll also need to explain how the colour draft works and a list of available colours. I think if you're going to go with the colour draft idea, you can't really go for unlimited entries as you wont be able to have 20 distinctly different colours.

Will it be the same set of kits as last season Freight Train (Home, Away, Cup, Heritage and GK)?

There will be home, away and cup. The two-one offs will be revealed when the pre-season hub drops. This season will be different though in that it will be a 10-16 team competition with the same sort of qualification as FIRA. The top two or four teams from last season qualify (or in the case of no stormy, top 5), and then the other 6-12 spots will be decided by the people.

I haven't flushed it all out 100%, but we will see how we go.
