Congratulations to Geelong and Scott for a fantastic year, picking yourselves up from the mat after high profile defections and getting behind your new coach. No excuses from me, we all know the circs and that's footy.

Surely this clears the slate of snide remarks regarding not fulfilling your promise. This win puts you on top of the list and fully deserving of every accolade you get.

Bloody well done guys - party hard and long!!

This Geelong team are professional right to the core. Great leaders, great club and was a great match. Not gutted at all about yesterday as we were well and truly covered by a champion team. Well done Cats. :thumbsu:

I was shattered yesterday and hurting this morning. I argued with respected posters on our board this week about why we would win. I chastised them for their negativity. In essence, they were realistic about something I have woken up to today.

Geelong were the best team in the competition this year. We were an agonizingly close second. Geelong beat us in both games we played. Geelong were on top of the ladder with us all the way. Chris Scott should be coach of the year. Most people wrote the Cats off. They lost the leagues best player in Ablett. They lost their Captain in Tom Harley. They lost their premiership coach in Thompson. They changed their president. They were smashed in the 2010 preliminary final by us. Cameron Ling looked so slow last finals that I am surprised he didn't retire.

Then Scott comes along. Changes the game plan with more kicking less handball. He has faith in youngsters - Menzel, Christensen,Vardy, West and co. He shows more faith in Tom Hawkins than Bomber ever did. Cam Mooney misses out while faith is put in Hawkins. They manage their list during a 24 game season better than anyone. Players like Enright were deliberately given breaks toward the end. Once a top two was secure, he overloaded training and lost a couple of games because they couldn't run out those heavy training weeks. In doing this they peaked in the finals JUST LIKE WE DID LAST YEAR. He examined a our weapon, "the press" and was the first team to make it look susceptible in round 8.

Geelong had their injuries too, they didn't have a full list to pick from. We had more long term and crucial injuries.

I have woken up this morning realizing the best side of 2011 beat us. I have woken up enjoying 2010 so much more. Being beaten by one of the best sides in history still hurts
but it wasn't one of those scumbag teams like Carlton, Essendon or St Kilda whose supporters seem to think we GUF when they spew their stupidity on our board.

Geelong were clearly the best side of 2008 and their supporters suffered like we are. They rebounded. They were humiliated in 2010 finals. They regrouped and rebounded.
They are a great side. We were almost their equal this year.

Nathan Brown was a huge loss for us this year. He beat Reiwoldt last year. He was the man for Hawkins yesterday, although history might show a superstar was born yesterday.

Geelong moved on quickly from losing their premiership coach - a man loved by his players. We will be invigorated by our change of coach. Eddie and his board have made the correct decisions with our great club for over ten years now. It is not a coincidence our game plan changed when Bucks joined the coaching panel until then MM was pretty stubborn with his defensive around the boundary plan.

Collingwood has some terrific young players coming through and some good injured players to return next year. I know Geelong does too.

Note to Collingwood Football Club- FFS can you please go after the Cats ruck coach or find out what the hell they do down their!

I hope their is not a mass exodus of retired players from Geelong. I hope they do not rebuild. There is only one side I want to play in next years Grand Final and beat them.

Congratulations to the Geelong Football Club for an outstanding season, being worthy opponents and achieving the ultimate prize that is rightfully yours.

Congratulations Geelong FC and supporters. Fantastic victory, fantastic year and fantastic players.

A deserved result, not only for the game but the entire season.

You guys are the best.

To the Victor go the spoils. Enjoy. Loud and proud.

Massive respect to opposition supporters for your heartfelt congratulations and well wishes throughout the finals and, in particular Collingwood posters for your generous praise and sportsmanship amid the pain of defeat. Thank you.

Watched it on replay, and the atmosphere and action was as intense and thrilling as you can get. That was a sensational effort. A truly deserving win. Was rootin' for you guys.

To the victors go the spoils.

Well done.

I would have loved to hear the Geelong crowd go more on the ..."GGGGGEEEEEELLLLLOOOOONNNNGGGG".

As I'm sure Collingwood would have banged the "CCCOOOOLLLLLLLIIIIIINNNNGGGGGWWWWWOOOOOODDDDD" if they were in front.

Class Geelong supporters, CLASS!

Yes, I must agree, respect is a word not in the vocabulary of Collingwood supporters.
Well done Geelong.
I was barracking against Collingwood :)

I've always been a pretty big admirer of the current Geelong Footy Club. They're a great side to watch and the group seem to play with a lot of respect for the opposition and for the game.

I really can't think of another team that deserves greater reward for effort, and I think 3 premierships in 5 years is probably fairly accurate of the dominant nature of Geelong over that period (though it could be argued it should be 4).

So congratulations Geelong.

But please tell me that you guys didn't find it a bit freaky when Matt Stokes and Allen Christensen walked past each other to get their premiership medal. They're freakin twins!!

4 grand finals in 5 years
3 flags from 4 appearances

Briswho?

Nothing short of spectacular and arguably the most dominant team since the days of hawthorn in the 80's. Congrats and soak it up

Re: Congratulations

Congratulations Geelong! You are an absolutely amazing football club. This champion team will forever be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. To watch Geelong play football is a pleasure, to watch Geelong play premiership football live in the flesh (I was at 07, 09 & 11) is an absolute privelige. I've always held a soft spot for the Cats since I was a kid, and given my clubs complete inabilility to contend for a premiership, I take much delight in watching your club do it.

Geelong football is hard, committed, attacking and exciting. It's pure football. And despite defensive mechanisms getting stronger and stronger each year, Geelong is a steam train that cannot be stopped. It doesn't matter how many times you are written off, you always seem to bounce back better than ever.

Enjoy this premiership, but most importantly, feel honoured and humbled to support such a champion football team.

4 grand finals in 5 years
3 flags from 4 appearances

Briswho?

4 grand finals in '4' years
3 'consecutive' flags from 4 appearances

Brisbane.

Stupid argument, particularly from a dog. The current Geelong side are 'one' of the greatest of all time. To do it with no Gablett and a new coach is remarkable. My hat is off. There is nothing but respect and admiration for the club over at our board. If they can back up in 2012 or 2013 then that comment has slightly more clout but still slightly less than Foots-who?

Edit: Sorry. I should just ignore these jibes. Inevitable that jealous clubs will throw stones. This current dynasty is a cat dynasty (the domestic variety). Kudos and may it continue.

Congratulations Geelong on another flag enjoy the moment, you truly deserve it!

Nah that would be Brisbane! but who cares.... it's Geelongs day and what champions they are

nah brah, they were more successful over a 3 year span, Geelong over 5 years have the superior winning ratio.

Who cares........thanks for the well wishes everyone! What a feeling!

Congratilations to your side on writing off the critics (me included) and providing the footy world the ecstasy as the Pies went down.

Congrats guys, well deserved win, definitely lost to the better team on the day. It's funny, Geelong fans are being far more classy than neutral fans.

Well done, Cats.

Congratulations guys! Such an awesome team. I've never rated Hawkins all that highly (Although respect he is a decent player) but he was outstanding you for you guys.

Was watching the game with 4 geelong mates and the amount of times we shouted "TOMAHAWK" in that 3rd and 4th quarter was awesome !

Congratulation Cats. It's not just the 3 flags from 5 years but the way you've played over those years as well. Always enjoyed your style, not so much so last Saturday though, and how they went about it and the record you've built in that time.
A wonderful effort and a great club :thumbsu:

Guys congratulations for winning the flag.

I had to come on and congratulate all the geelong supporters.

Well done 3 flags in 5 years fanatstic result.

Enjoy the spoils until we meet again in 2012.

Deserved winners in 2011 !

Well done Cats as they say too old, too slow, too good!

Timed the run into finals perfectly and played their best when it counted.

Disappointed we lost but realise that back to back flags are hard to come by, you really need a lot of things to go right. Proof of that is the Cats - easily the best side for five years but, have not been able to do it - at least you get another shot at it! I would be quite happy with one every two years though! Bring on 2012.
