Outside transition player is the bolded part which he is in this draft.
He isn't McCluggage he is more like a tall Fletcher, his bottom is McGrath but his top isn't McCluggage imo.
Duursma ceiling is Brendan Goddard but may end up will hoskin Elliot

That said all the duursmas have failed to reach their pre draft ceilings

Starcevich is now on the Paddy McCartin level of concussion. His last 2 knockouts were as soft as you can get. I havent seen the first two of his 4 concussions but his 3rd one was such a small hit and he had 3 months off with talk he may never return. Add to that on the weekend, another light hit KO's him. I would amend our offer to 2yrs with the option to keep renewing it year by year after that. Pretty certain Brisbane would be packing his bags now if they could. But they have only offered him 2 years, so like what I want to offer him, it wouldnt be a massive risk on 2 years.

And if he decides our 2 years isnt worth changing clubs, I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.

Did he get KO’d did he?

I don’t know about a small hit. It was a pretty big one

You sure you had the right game on tv?

Xavier's been good for a late first rounder and Zane is only a second year player, so not exactly going to be the finished product anytime soon.

I understand where the pro-Duursma people are coming from but we need actual midfielders more than potential midfielders. I do think the Fletcher comparison makes sense though in that Duursma will be someone you can plonk anywhere and he'll do well.
BB mate, I’d understand your concern if we didn’t have the (presumed) double bite of the cherry with the 1-2 punch.
If we take Duursma and CDT then perhaps we deserve to wear the dunce hat for another season, not because CDT is a bad pick, but he doesn’t fit our need, especially when paired with Duursma.
This is why I think we should be taking Sharp. He doesn’t have to be the second best player available. We can diversify our strategy.

BOND 007 I’m available for part time draft consultancy if you want. Cheers

Nice. Less money they'll have available for Warner in a couple years. Keep loading up, purps.
I think McVee would’ve been a good value pick up, shame we missed out.
Both of these are true, but the Purples are in their window.

They’re a good coach away from being up there and threatening.
We can offer a bright coach but no immediate chance of finals and no proof it’ll happen this side of 2030.

Would’ve been a nice get, sure but I understand him wanted the other side

Goddard's energy would compliment Harley and Baker nicely. Duursma isn't that kind of player.

With some players money is more important. Must be plenty of players that would jump at 900K and to play with Harley, or to be one of the players to lift us back up the ladder. Look at Ablett junior. Went to Gold coast who were basket cases on some massive deal, where he couldve stayed with Geelong and played finals every year.
Ablett went to the GC for an 8 million dollar deal over a decade ago.
You're comparing apples with oranges here.

This is why I like Sharp and Cumming. I don't believe Duursma on his own adds more to our list than Cumming + Schubert/Grlj/NHH/Farrow/whoever. I don't see us taking CDT unless he's sliding to that 7-10 region and we're holding that pick.

I was wondering whether he failed his concussion test or by the time his 20 minutes was up the game was done and dusted so they took the safe option.
Danger apparently played the best finals game in history last week and Starcevich destroyed him. Wouldn't discard him just yet.
I thought t would be too tough for Danger to back up last week’s form, to old to be putting in that effort on a weekly basis..

You can’t possibly compare McCluggage kicking and vision to Duursma’s. On ceiling then yep fair enough.
I see a less competitive but more athletic version of Goddard in Duursma. I think we take CDT with the other pick, which won’t thrill some in here but he could be the big midfielder Jackson type that can push forward and hit the scoreboard. He’s an interesting prospect, not many big blokes can move like he does.

If we still hold the Hawks 1st then i think we will look at a midfielder like Phillipou, Sharp (unlikely), Cumming(unlikely), Sweid or Barker and even a Swadling or Rodriguez at our second round pick if we took Barker.

This is without trying to get too creative and simply sticking to what we hold as our first 4 picks.
Duursma, CDT, Barker, Swadling and Banfield i could live with. Use our other picks, trades and assistance package to get other deals done and position ourselves for next years draft.

Where are these players and why aren’t they banging down the door now that Harley has signed up again. Another dose of Simpson bullsh•t he came up with to try and save his job.

I do and don’t see the Goddard comparisons. Goddard was an astronomically better kick but Duursma projects to have him covered overhead.

For all the dislike in here I agree and think WD, CDT is the most likely 1-2 combo, Robey is likely to be discussed too. Hopefully CDT has grown at the combine.

In a nice spot to field big offers for both.

I think you’re right, Phillipou and Barker will be tight up there for Hawks pick should we hold it. Both athletic types like Duursma which we know MCQ is after.

Bontempelli was an outside player before the draft.

Again, you're not drafting for what they are right now but what they could be.

I thought this as well but Starcevich's finals series was a better version of what Mini was trying with Brady Hough this season
The more players you have that can play in more roles the better.

Like yesterday starc was doing a great job on danger - but if he weren’t you can put ginbey on him and put starc in the mids - or vice versa.

Fans often say coach x has no plan b but it’s a lot easier to have plan b when you have a few utility players.
