I’m wondering whether you guys will use pick two to bid on every highly rated academy kid.

Would be quite nice if those ****ers had to pay full tote on all of them.
It would be a statement to bid on all of the academy and father son's in one go, yes including Toby Whan.

We might get the first round going to the late 30's. Last selection of round 1 is pick 38...no make that pick 39

Could only see that happening if the AFL denied any assistance and we cracked the proverbial.

If he worked in recruitment or drafting for the club in any capacity and was simultaneously posting on BigFooty, he bloody well should have been fired too. Having said that, I highly doubt he was.
Bond is one I actually believe was part of the recruitment team. He gave absolutely nothing away most of the time anyway.
I think Phil's Dad might have been a recruiter of some sort as well, he has a lot of posting history back in the day about genuine sounding stuff before he became the whore island meme we came to know (and love/hate).
I just don't think he was the big shot he made himself out to be, giving Nesbitt a blood nose, hurling Clarke out of negotiations on his arse or singlehandedly saving our draft after round one.
Probably had some very minor role if he ever did work for the club.

Knock yourself out bidding on Whan at 2. But Uwland, Annable, and Patterson? That’d be good for everyone outside of Queensland

What is CDT elite at exactly?
He is over 200cm with speed, good below his knee's, quick hand and a great kick. It why most commentators talk about his as a traditional midfield.

He and Duursma will be picks 1 & 2. It just who holds those pick that is yet to be determined.

Bond gave so little away (if anything at all) - i doubted he worked for the club but i guess if someone did work at the club and post on Bigfooty i would hope he would give nothing away.

Phil definitely had some inside knowledge. However, if a bloke who was retiring had one leg in a thai "bar" whilst also stepping for Clarke to finalise trade negotations at Pyke's request, then this club is in a worse state than i thought (and my god i hold the club to a low bar atm).

I can't believe there is even a debate.

Duursma looks to be clearly the best available talent in the open pool.
Pick 1 - WD and move on.

Bit of ranking update, from some of the best minds in the draft space. Our own eDPS, Haggas, Smythe, ESPN, Cal Twomey, Craft of the Draft and the new Reading the Play which is a breath of fresh air and somewhat against the norm.

Pick Average;
the ranking total divided by the amount of selections
eg. Duursma was selected 8 times, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 4 = 13
13 draft points divided by amount of sections (8 rankings used)
13 / 8 =1.625 1.625

High Pick
self explanatory really. The highest they were taken. Gives an idea of how widely viewed some players were.

Low Pick
Opposite to the 'high pick', good to see how low some rated these players.

The players listed below are sorted on this metric. All players were viewed in two rankings across the 8. Some of these selections are skewed by being out of date (ie. Craft of the Draft still had Sullivan Robey at 28, the last update from them was 3 weeks ago)

Also gives a reasonable enough view of where the groups sit

This kind of system is what the AFL should ask all list managers to do anonymously, to get an idea on the average ranking for all of the NGA and FS. This would then take out the need for clubs to bid. Have it down prior to trade period so that for example gold coast know they need the points for pick 2. We don't have to bid on them, and it stop teams making nudge nudge wink wink deals to not bid on them.

Fair enough mate...I hadn't been lurking around long enough to know anything about Phil beyond his whore island phase and you're more than entitled to your view on things. Me personally, I just find it difficult to believe that anyone working for the club would be posting anything here...even if not giving away much.

A very close friend of mine was lucky enough to be taken on by the club as an intern during the 2018 season, he's a photographer. Said that during the vetting process there was a very clear part of it that basically said if you are active on BigFooty then we are not taking you on. It was very black and white...so I know the club is aware of potential leaking on this forum and make it clear to anyone they allow within the four walls that they will not tolerate anyone posting here.

That being said, I don't see it as likely that anyone with important, club shaping roles like recruitment or drafting would be on here. Lurking? Who knows. But posting? I don't believe it

I wouldn’t bid on Whan with pick 1 on day 2

I guess that simple answer would be to use it in one of our other trades if we have to because we can't find another player.

It's not like it's worthless or anything. Could always just trade it for future picks in next years draft at a worst case.

Ryan + Priority pick for 7?

I dunno.
Can you do that, i.e. include it in a trade that has only pick(s) coming back, if you are supposed to use it to recruit a player? I guess the answer would be in he fine print if we do get given a pick.

Starcevich is now on the Paddy McCartin level of concussion. His last 2 knockouts were as soft as you can get. I havent seen the first two of his 4 concussions but his 3rd one was such a small hit and he had 3 months off with talk he may never return. Add to that on the weekend, another light hit KO's him. I would amend our offer to 2yrs with the option to keep renewing it year by year after that. Pretty certain Brisbane would be packing his bags now if they could. But they have only offered him 2 years, so like what I want to offer him, it wouldnt be a massive risk on 2 years.

And if he decides our 2 years isnt worth changing clubs, I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.
Can't see what our fervour is for getting Starcevich. We're overloaded with mid sized defenders, that's miles off the positions we truly need filling. Plus his concussion issues are a huge red flag.

Bontempelli was an outside midfielder who also played HBF. He wasn't a HBF'er and neither is Duursma.
Duursma is not a ball winning mid .
Sure he played a bit inside during the year but was timid and not clean in close .
You would never use him in that role anyway . But he is most definitely played a lot at HBF

The afl learned their lesson when they gave North picks that had to be used in a trade for a player . They lost value due to the restrictions

But that's my point. Bontempelli's knock pre-draft was that he was too outside. He wasn't a 'ball-winning' mid either.

Not sure if we're watching the same player but I've seen Duursma plenty of times go into packs to try and win the ball. Almost lost the game he played for Casey in the VFL against Brisbane because he got pinged for diving on the ball(which was a harsh call) just before the siren, in an attempt to get possession and clear defence. Luckily for him, the Lions player missed the shot after the siren.

Can people name all these guys in the picture? I thought Phil said he was one of them

If we trade and make deals with GC and Brisbane it would be in our interest to not bid for better deals
