Ryan is potentially one we can potentially afford to lose. It would have to be for a very good pick even if it was the hawks pick + Ryan to get into the top 8 of the draft. Club likely needs to keep it's second rounders for Walley and Evans imo.

We have some real top tier looking small forward NGA's over the next 3 years.

Club also needs to potentially look at trialling Brockman off of HB at WAFL level. See if the ball coming at him works better as he has the skills but can't seem to generate enough of the ball to be effective at HF.

Rawlinson is a straight delist.

Owies can fill the hole Ryan leaves 👀

Do we currently have 1 list spot open>? Is Sheed on the long term injury list.... do we need to pull the plug and put Yeo on it as well?

Jack Williams is the future second ruck / tall forward.
Archer Reid is a future key back.
Shanahan is a very likely lead up FF.

Josh Kennedy couldn't really train in season post 2014.

I'm not against pulling the offer put to Allen and offering him a 2 year deal on very good money. Tell him to earn that last big contract.

If we put Sheed on the inactive list (or if we already have and just haven’t announced it), we’ll have one spot available to fill at the mid-season draft.

Surely the compensation pick is worth more than retaining in the longer term.

As in leave for big money in two years? Or not lose him at all?

I would think things like age might affect the band 1 vs band 2 further down the line, but won't it also drop our compensation pick right in the midst of Tassie drafts and assuming we improve, the pick wouldn't be as good?

Better to rip that bandaid off now.

He is playing under duress for sure. And probably insisting he plays to try and cling to any value he's negotiated elsewhere.

The concern I’d have moving Brockman to HB would be his ability to defend particularly whether he could remain focused - drifts in and out of games a lot

maybe someone could just have the hard conversation with Brockman that until he’s capable of having any impact when there’s an ounce of pressure at the contest and not just continually lose his feet falling over or slipping in those cases he won’t be an afl player instead of this premise that every flailing player needs to be given an opportunity to play a free an easy half back flank role when we’re already having trouble fitting all our HBfers in.

You want to just receive the easy ball on the outside after everyone else does the hard work for you? Great, this isn’t the team for you.

Another player on our list that currently has zero to offer when it’s time to recover the ball/win it in dispute which is almost 100% of the game time of our matches.

Of course he looks good in preseason internals, he’s playing us.

Just a question, now that we are seemingly going down this route of trading out Oscar maximising our draft hand, what is the likelihood that Waterman turns around this year or next and decides to chase a flag.

My sense is we sold Waterman a vision of him and Oscar up forward, get a couple of guys from Richmond to help stabilise the list, let Harry take TB’s spot and we might be closer to finals than what people externally think.

My sense is the strategy has dramatically shifted since then, and it’s an open question of how waterman reacts if that is indeed the case .
Then we trade hard for Walter

Please dont blast me

GCS have NGA players that they need to match points for and they also hold i believe a few first rounders with one being from Port you could aways trade Ryan to a team a second rounder which will be worth more this year due to the point index changing and package yours and the traded second to GCS for one of there first rounders?

Though i think Wes Walley is tied to you through NGA so that may pose an issue
All picks, regardless of round are worth less points now, added to this is the draft discount dropped from 20% to 10%.

It used to be that teams trading a mid first round pick looked for about a 500 point upgrade in the trade. That's much harder to achieve now.

As an example, picks 19 and 20 used to be worth 948 + 912 points, which almost equaled pick 5 at 1878 points, or gave pick 11 at 1329 points just over a 500 points upgrade.

Now picks 19 and 20 are worth 796 + 757, which is is just over the value of pick 7 now at 1543 points, and gives pick 11 at 1205 points a 350 point upgrade.

Tsatas is shit and can't kick. Junior game just doesn't translate to AFL. Also doesn't want to leave Victoria.

Hobbs is starting to come along alright and again didn't want to leave Victoria.

Robertson again looks to be in that in between space of too good for state league, not good enough to play his primary role at AFL level (He isn't versatile either)

Constable is very slow and lacked the desire to become the best he can be at AFL level on his first chance. He does have good skills however. He's priddis at the end of his career slow.

Erasmus is an interesting one, he is being held out of the Freo midfield and or HF and that's unlikely to change. Is a great athlete and can find the ball but is a poor kick and hasn't shown anything to suggest he can play midfield at the next level. But he could be a cheap option. He is certainly able to find it at WAFL level and he puts in as well defensively.

Parfitt I would say yes to if we had a second MSD pick and he made it there. I doubt he gets that far.

Kobe Ryan is still only 21 and is playing in a horrendously shit SANFL side and putting up good numbers. People question his disposal but disposal wasn't an issue as a junior. Playing for West Adelaide in the midfield and trying to show good skills is like playing for WCE midfield atm and trying to show good skills. Getting a lot of clearances and running both ways. I've kept a close eye on him as he was one of my favourites in his draft year. Was immature and a bit quirky. I think he's worth at least an interview to see if he's matured.
Ryan to HBF would be my preference. I know we've discussed this before and I'd really like to see it.

On the Archer Reid bit, is this just your personal view or does the club share?
Nothing they've done indicates Reid will play back, despite our obvious lack of a quality tall back.
