Unbelievable that people are having a sook that we will be trading our fourth pick in a shallow draft which will be in the 20s for a best 10 player in a back to back premiership side that instantly improves our team..
Are you new around here?

Honestly wrapped with this. I promise if you watch Brisbane every week, you’ll see why the club is so into Starcevich. Quite possibly the best small/medium forward stopper in the league (and capable of playing defensive mid if required). Yes, concussion history is a worry but as long as games based triggers are there for later years of contracts then I think it’s a risk worth taking.
We should’ve played harder. Just like we should’ve played harder with Baker last year.

If the club ever open themself up for genuine questions from members I’ll be asking the why.

Would love to know what we’re thinking with Starcevich, given that we have a very similar player in Hough already.

Midfield?
Hough to the midfield?
McCarthy to the midfield?
Baker to the forward line?

Why retain Tom Cole?

Can imagine it was probably one of the conditions of getting it in the first place.

Was surprising to me that we got handed a 1st round pick and now we know why. AFL just manipulating the trade period behind the scenes as per usual.

Less wins than NM over the same period and they get 3 x end 1Rs. We get one and are told we have to trade it to the reigning premier for a player that they would have got nothing from 15 other clubs?

We’re idiots if we backed ourselves into that corner.

We could have neither starc or Hough and the question still is why do we retain Tom Cole. At least this time next year he will be gone

He was never going to be a third rounder

I have no concerns with Starcevich as a player even if he has some offensive limitations his defensive attributes render them obsolete.

The key to building a strong list is by having a balance of players and my only concern with losing Ryan and even Chesser that were losing pace and offense and adding to defence. 80% of our problems are mid and half forward related and Young, Starcevich don't alter that deficit.

Don't take seriously assessments of draft strength. They're rarely accurate in the long term.

I think he will train in the midfield in the pre-season and they will go from there on what he produces. I don’t think much.

Dev/Starcevich/Graham as that defensive mid

Should've just made it "had to be traded" which is what I thought it would be all along

The fact they made the point of giving us one that doesn't have to be traded, and then we use it anyway is somehow more on the nose for me

Gut feel is Starcevich follows his man

Starcevich role would be essentially when Petracca rests forward Starcevich is on him…. And when he goes into the centre square Starcevich is in him . Same for Rankine, Dangerfield and the like.

That’s not really the point though. He probably is worth a late first realistically. But we absolutely love paying full value when we hold all the cards. It’s infuriating.

He’s a FA, Brisbane would get nothing for him if he went anywhere else, we hold PSD pick 1 (never realistic but should still be a threat to lower the value).

He’s a gun that we should be getting for unders because of his contract situation, we need to be taking advantage of these situations more to maximise returns.

Current Draft Picks:
1,15,19,20,34,52,74

List Spots Available:
• Main list - 4 (Will be 7 after FA/trades of Allen, Chesser and Ryan
• Cat A rookie list - 4
• Cat B rookie list - 0
Is this list spots available accurate
Do we have 8 Cat A rookie spots available plus 3 Cat B F/s NGA additional available ?

Seems like a lot but I read somewhere you can have 6 Cat A rookie spots and 3 Cat B
Fs/NGA
If we have 4 extra is that 10 rookie A plus 3 rookie B

Rumours are he wants midfield time. It's not like he has much competition with kelly ect.
Hough backline
Mccarthy midfield potentially. I like him more as back
You would think baker goes forward now.

Cole is pure depth now. Duggan would be too if he wasnt captain.

Still think we are smart enough to trade 19,20 for 13 and 32 which is 100 extra points for Gold Coast. We then can only give pick 32 and 33 up. Pick 32 and 33 for Dev/Starcevich and 50.

I like him a lot as a player but that's a separate issue. We hold all the leverage in this situation given Brissy are gaining 2 free agents and would receive nothing if he went anywhere else. There is no reason for us to squander the priority pick on him given we could pick him up with any of our later picks as well and Brisbane can't do anything about it. The way Twomey talks about it as if it's a forgone conclusion suggests to me that he has inside info that the priority pick was given to WC on the proviso that we'd trade it for Starcevich, despite the fact Brisbane would get nothing in any other scenario. If it goes ahead as Twomey seems to think it will then it's essentially a priority pick for the B2B premiers who at the conclusion of this years draft will have picked up 3 pick 1/2s in the last 4 seasons for pennies on the dollar along with a few other handy players as FS/academy.
This is what I was thinking when I read Twomey as he usually has been fed the inside goss.
But I will wait for this 1 as only yesterday Pyke was on radio stating we will look at all options to trade up in the draft including using the priority pick.
It's a wait and see for me, there has to be more to the deal if we are using pick 19 for this deal?

I'd rather not use the ass pick, but if we can get Starcevich and still manufacture a 3rd pick in the top 10 then I'm not really fussed.

I think it's stupid that anyone in the media thought we'd dilute the Oscar compo to sign Starc. It's also kinda stupid we'd offer up that freshly given first rounder when in reality we could be bad boys and use later picks or the damn psd.

All I can hope for now is that we pick Brisbane's academy players and they have to use that pick to match.

I got harangued and ridiculed by a gang of muppets on here for immediately calling BS on the "He wasn't concussed" ruse when the Lions first claimed that at the start of the week. Some people are so gullible. It was a very, very obvious lie.
I think he just stayed down for the standard 8 count .

If Pyke and the club has learned anything from the past few years it should be that bending over and spreading your cheeks under the guise of creating goodwill or giving out favours gets you absolutely nowhere. If he wants to talk about pulling all levers then this is a perfect opportunity.

Hopefully pencil neck Twomey is just talking out of turn and is just that lazy he hasn't given any thought to the matter and realised that it simply makes no sense from our end.
