We get melty because we miss out on what we were never getting. There has never been a reason that the Suns will definitely trade pick 7 to us.

Never been actual links to Neale, Bont, Flanders, Davies ect ect.

It’s mostly all made up in here and then everyone loses their minds when it doesn’t happen.

We won’t win trade week or the draft in the way most in here want it to happen because most of our proposals are pie in the sky stuff.

Nah I reckon it's only a small subset of the board that gets upset over missing out on the likes of Bont, Neale and Tracc, who you quite rightly point out we were never getting.

The majority melt at what is perceived to be excessive contracts for middling players, overpaying at the trade table, pissing away top 5 picks, and therefore ignoring list needs for half back flankers.

It’s actually Allen for pick 2 and Starc, that’s what most people aren’t seeing.Thats massive overs for Allen.

We asked for Starc to be exempted from FA compensation, AFL house said no it’s outside the rules, you will have to trade for him but we can help you with that because we can give assistance to clubs when we choose to.

The AFL has allowed us to get maximum value for Allen whilst not having to use our own picks to trade for Starc by giving us the pick. It’s not that difficult to understand.
Well, that's the AFL's stupid formula though. I have no idea why a compensation pick has to fall immediately behind the club's other pick in that round, but that's how they do it. Hence the reason that you just let Allen walk, or North doesn't think twice about matching the Ben McKay offer. Then again, the AFL is so opaque about rewarding compensation that they could just say "if you don't play ball then you won't get pick 2."

Guess that's the problem with a league that runs everything like Calvinball.

This, only want Humphreys number 1 and option 2 Davies.
Humphreys is just coming into break out time and is the bull inside mid who has good speed, balanced and damaging, HR lite!!
I would give pick 2 for Humphreys.
He wont be leaving the Suns to move to WA. He might leave to go home

whilst I agree on sentiment, i think its too soon to say we pissed away a top 5 pick. overpaying isn't same as pissing away.

not sure we ignored anything, we have drafted midfielders in Reid, hewett, hall, gross and Davis at very least. we can talk about what Allan can or cannot become, but hardly consider a bust yet.

o I don't think we are ignoring anything unless you feel we should have drafted another midfielder and not shanahan? we tried for Warner.

we will have 1-2 more mids this year. and of course getting the Dev. we can't say club both ignored midfield by not getting dev 2 years ago (even though we tried) and also ignoring the midfield by getting dev this year. sounds like we also tried for Neale.

Would love Annabelle TBH i think he is the best genuine mid in the draft . I would happily bid pick 1 and be stoked if they didn't match

Agree he would be perfect for us and we should
Bid on him with the earliest pick that we have.

Shame they will match, but that’s the way it goes.

Would happily have Daniel Annabel read out as our first pick.

The suns pick is really just objective maths. We have (had) the most points, taking a lesser offer would be illogical by the suns.

Trade targets comment is fair enough, clubs will take the offer that suits them provided the player is on board.

If what Cal said is right we have been played like a fiddle for Starcevich, has little to do with expectation. There is no way we haven’t made a commitment not to bid on Annable. Nearly 900 points of bargaining power gone. Switch the narrative. Stick to your band 1 offer TODAY Lions or Annable is bid on at pick 1 and Starcevich goes PSD.

Someone posted earlier in the week that PSD is a no go for Starcevich, he'd have to nominated for the ND. But I believe he could nominate his required contract when nominating for the draft, so the risk of someone else drafting him would be practically nil.

Ordinarily I wouldn't mind trading the compo pick for Starcevich, concussion aside I think that's about his worth. But as it is, it just seems like such a rort. The back-to-back premiers get Allen & Draper for free, Annable for some late picks AND pick 19 for Starcevich. Its highly unlikely they'd be able to match our contract offer to Starcevich and are probably glad he's leaving as it saves them having to push a senior player out.

I'd love to see us 'Hawthorn' Brisbane, trade away 15, 19 & 20 for pick upgrades and offer them a choice between our R2 or our F2.

I keep hearing about this academy kid from Brisbane thats meant to go ok. Is it Amiable? Anyone???

So I posted this in another thread and I much prefer it. **** Brisbane.

Numbers are pre compensation bar the pick we get for Allen

2, 19, 20 for Jed Walter and pick 7 sounds pretty bloody good to me.
2 & Flanders to Carlton for Curnow + F2

Pick 1 & 16 for 5&6 from Essendon

Draft Sharp, Cumming, Schubert.

Brisbane can cop saints F2 which we get for Ryan plus whatever we get for Chesser for Starc & Dev.
Richmond get handed 52 for Young (which they may or may not need for a F/S bid on Kellaway, this pick will be worth more points than it is currently as it'll come in rather than going further out)

We then pray that at least Evans & Banfield don't get bid on in the ND. Means the club misses on Tylah Williams as I would be shocked if he's not bid on or the club takes a deficit into next year)

1 tall, 2 top 10 pick mids, an explosive but raw midfield prospect and an aggressive, hard 2 way runner who despises losing and is great 1 vs 1 in Banfield for a wing.

Plus Starc as a mature aged defender.
Dev as a mature aged mid.
Young shores up KPD for the next 3-4 years.
Jed Walter is the future top tier FF

Taking out bids draft goes
1. Essendon - Duursma (Too much pride and prestige to bid)
2. Carlton - CDT (because they are ****ing idiots and who they are losing in De Koning in particular and won't bid on Uwland due to the sweet deal they get)
3. Richmond - Taylor
4. Richmond - Robey
5. Sharp
6. Cumming
7. Schubert
Huge gap
34 (whatever it ends up being) Tom Blamires

Take our 3 top 10 picks, our 3 trade targets, a FS and 1-2 NGA's, 1 mature ager from the ND and trade periods and then hope like buggery a couple of our club tied picks and a couple of Mature age targets drift to the rookie draft.

Yes it's nice to dream but If we get in early that could genuinely work
