2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Why don't you post a mature reasoned rebuttal of my point rather than failed attempts at snarky humour?

I'll try and help you develop some critical thinking skills here and think your way through this.

How long do you think it will be before Starcevich has a soft head knock of the same force as the GF?

Do you think thats rare for a backman backing into packs or getting pushed into oncoming traffic?

Do you think it is a once every 4 years event or a multiple times per season event for a player playing Starcevich's role?

And when it happens do you think the result will be something different to what it was in GF and what is your reasoning for thinking that?
I guess we can hope for the best.

Or alternatively, we can just keep worrying about stuff that might happen.

This was was back in April.

As it turns out, right here, right now I was much closer to the mark than your “assessment” back in April. Based Twomey’s form guide Sharp is rated 9th best prospect 5 weeks out from the draft.

I’m more than happy to back in my assessment over yours, and I’ll even bring receipts to let you know!
4 5 guys better inside mids in the draft you say. Who exactly

GC will be tied up with Petracca back and forth for a while yet, so any move on their top 10 picks will likely come late in tbe piece.

Melbourne will be attempting to extract both of them as we speak.
Won’t come until draft day, surely. Wait to see how everyone’s board shakes, see who is desperate to move where.

We’re sitting pretty for now.

So the deal is assuming that those dirty scum in Qld deliver on Pick 2 for Oscar

I've updated the pick number below to reflect the Oscar band 1 pick pushing picks back

Freo
In - 20, 24, 47
Out - 13, 34, 45, 51
Implications- Freo get a pick for McVee plus a pick likely to land them Rodriguez
1759825285807.png
Looks like Freo subsidised the trade

Lions
In- 16, 22, 44, 50
Out- Starcevich, 19, 46, 52
Implications- Lions hoping to sell 16 and 22 for decent premium on draft night (list spot restrictions) and have collateral to work with Crows on balancing the Sneezer deal.

Eagles
In- 13, 34, 53
Out- 17, 23, 24
Implications- a move up he draft board to 13 while gaining picks for either trading for Young or matching bids

So it seems Matty Clarke was correct saying he thought the deal for Starcevich was about 23.

How do I feel. Pretty good trade (IF you rate Starcevich). I am not a big fan of Starcevich but understand why we got him. We now have the chance to pick 3 players to stop the ball going straight to our defence.

I believe there will be players worth picking at 13 meaning we do not need to split to get 3 top end talents.

We now take to the draft
1 2 13 34 38 53 58
I assume either 34 38 or 53 are used for Young

Here is Cal's ranking (minus club tied)

Where did I say there’s 4-5 better mids in the draft? I said draft prospects.

Reading is fundamental, might be time to get your eyes checked old mate.

If you want to put more stock in to ESPN than twomeys phantom guide, be my guest, but you’re backing the draft ratings site that is most known for being an outlier.

Agenda setters with Cleary stating we asked for Rowan Marshall, and are actively chasing a ruck

Pretty sure Clarke said this in his initial interview - that the trading up or splitting of picks would likely come on draft night.

4 of the top 9 on twomeys rankings are club tied picks mate.

Annable
Ulwind
Patterson
Dean

So eliminate them, and sharp comes in at .......wait for it......pick 5.

Any Chance that the deal for Chesser looks like this

WC Out: Chesser & 33
WC In: 21

Values Chesser at Pick 35

Would leave us 1,2,12 & 21 with 37 (Young), 52 and 57 as matched bid options for Evans and Banfield
It's a deal we'd accept, but other clubs wouldn't.

Next move:
13 and Chesser for 10 and 41.

✅ Move up 3 spots
✅ Values Chesser at pick 32
✅ +416 points for GCS pick
✅ Blues only slide 3 spots

Blues fans would melt harder than the bed-wetters in here. That shiny top 10 pick is all they've got from a shambles of a year where Curnow might be leaving too.

They are going to trade it because it will get eaten by a Dean bid. Only sliding 3 spots and keep trading is ideal for them
