Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13

Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

Sorry but much as I want Macarthy on the ball, in the forward line and the backline he needs to stay at halfback.
Ginbey,Hough and Baker are not the best kicks. Starcevich is ok,Hed is ok and Young I’m not sure.
Games are won and lost from HB.Look how much better we looked when he started streaming out of defence.
Dursma will start in defence if we take him.He had a great burst of speed.
Bo Allan?
Whichever way you look at it our defence looks very good.
Agree with points re TMac. But we’ll have Edwards, Young, Hough, Ginbey, TMac, Baker and Starc in backline which is 7 (there’s always a defender on bench). If we insist on playing Duggan then Baker is further up the ground
Duursma on a wing me thinks

In one of his interviews yesterday Clarke mentioned player managers putting players forward to the club to consider for those extra rookie list spots.

Robertson is going to fill one of them as we and he have committed to each other already

The other spot(s) to be filled will be sorting through a bunch of players to find the best fit - add Schoenberg to the pile with Berry, Macrae and possibly Swallow it seems plus any number of possibilities

The good thing is we’re casting a wide net for options that cost us zero in a trade but will build AFL experienced depth and also give our WAFL side the mature help it so desperately needs
Yep this is obviously the approach
Tbh I probably prefer Swallow for the leadership and knowing he’ll bring something closer to AFL standard if he plays. Berry, Macrae, Schoenberg I think are just nowhere near good enough. We only need that role filled for 1-2 years so may as well just go Swallow

He has a point now we will have to match a much earlier bid than before the combine
Well if I had the choice of having highly rated NGAs or lowly rated ones, I know which I’m choosing
Evans started the year rated around top 20 but that’s fallen because of injury. Williams started the year barely on the radar and is now considered top 20. Swings and roundabouts
I’m just excited about having a young small forward who projects well (who is quick, tackles and kicks goals) for the first time in years

Deplorable dump dude wokephobia is giving me serious woke vibes.

Assuming we take Duursma, Cumming and Sharp and land our mooted targets it’s actually a pretty strong Beagles side. Yes Archer at CHB.

FB Ginbey Edwards Baker
HB Hough AReid Starcevich
C McCarthy Reid Duursma
HF Hewett Shanahan Sharp
FF Brockman Waterman Newton
R BWilliams Kelly Yeo
I Graham Maric Cumming Robertson JWilliams
E Hall Allan Gross

FB: Bazzo Brock Cole
HB: Grego Young Duggan
C: Banfield Hall Allan
HF: Long Hutchinson Davis
FF: Champion Livingstone Owies
R: Flynn Swallow Gross
IC: Johnston Evans TWilliams Walley
I wouldn’t be assuming we are going to take those 3 players.
Secondly WC have already stated that Young would add to our best 22, yet you have him named in the 2nds.

There is no point. There is no guarantee or contract that he gets drafted to the Eagles so why would he jeopardise his overall chances of getting drafted. Even if the club verbally said we want you, you aren’t taking that risk.
Let alone the fact that he’s going to want to go as high as possible to bump his wage. Rookies on lesser wage
And something called competitiveness which is a fairly critical ingredient for an elite sportsman

Who would you assume then when putting out a 2026 best 23?

Yeah, like Hawthorn told Frost to hang around and there was a spot in the backline for him with Battle and Barrass then played 2 games?

If a player shows more ability in a position over preseason they will be given the position. To suggest that Young is 100% locked in at CHB for round 1 in six months is absurd.

Lol.

How good would this look.

Harley and Duursma - Vic Country
Sharp and Cumming - SA
Ginbey and Hewett - WA

There is some seriously talented, interstate rivalry, BSD internal team competition to behold.

THAT is the core you can build a premiership list around.
That is very good. Really hope Essendon have a hard on for CDT.
Pants wouldn't be wet from pissing myself

A fit Yo has to be shoehorned in. Greco is another I think would make a great back pocket.Fast, tough and I thought looked very composed on debut.
Baker is the guy that could go forward. Great pressure forward and a surprisingly decent kick accuracy and distance wise.

Apparently essendon are offering 20 26 29 to GC for saints pick 8 + fiorini.
Our post-Starcevich hand (12, 33, 37) beats that and we can hint at not bidding on Uwland.

Also word was Essendon is using a F3 or F4 for Fiorini so as to not impact their Draper compo. If that’s on the table, why are the Suns taking a worse offer this year and losing out on a future pick in exchange for a lesser points tally?

Well 1st of all you ignorant peanut, you wait for the draft to be completed before assuming anything.
Unfortunately you are the type of deranged personality that convinces yourself that we should take certain players because that’s what you’ve talked yourself into.
When the players chosen are different to the players you chose, you label the choices idiotic, because they didn’t fit with your ideals.
Then you go on to melt.
Rinse and repeat year after year.

We don’t talk to each other like that. Thank you.

Will all slide by 1 and still less than 13,34,38 and Suns have to give Fiorini and don’t have the same bidding threat.

If Merrett gets traded we’re probably cooked and should pivot to Carlton’s pick.

Perhaps a bigger impetus for Essendon to trade 5 & 6 for pick 2?

A return to rambling and name calling, back on the beers I see. So we can’t forecast a reasonable best 23 until the draft is completed on a football discussion forum? Is that the rule?

Starcevich great pick up for us good lock down defender.

B: Starcevich, Edwards, Hough
HB: Ginbey, Young, Yeo
So Duggan and Cole go wafl like they deserved 2 years ago?

So Duggan and Cole go wafl like they deserved 2 years ago?

Cole will be under the pump for a spot but I think they'll play Starcevich up the ground, at least initially.

Yeo will play in the middle (or ya know, be injured).

So still room off HB for Duggan - and Liam Baker for that fact, more than likely plays back there.

The defence is looking ok if they can click as a unit.....which is good, because I am unsure how the midfield improves enough without a serious injection of ready-made class at the draft.
