• Tylar Young (Richmond) arrived at West Coast in exchange for Pick 38.
• Deven Robertson (Brisbane) has agreed to join West Coast and will be signed on to the rookie list after being delisted by Brisbane

Out:

• Oscar Allen joins Brisbane as a FA - West Coast receive Pick 2 as compensation
• Liam Ryan and a 2027 R3 pick has been traded to St Kilda for a 2026 R2 pick
• Campbell Chesser has been traded to Carlton for Pick 41
• Jayden Hunt announces retirement
• Jack Petruccelle, Callum Jamieson and Loch Rawlinson not offered new contracts
• Coen Livingstone joins the list of players not offered a new contract

Or maybe Ah Chee, manager and Crows in their discussions agreed on what they thought would be a fair offer to Brisbane. Brisbane were aresholes demanding pick 16, which was not fair in anyway so he was prepared to walk once Brisbane didn't do the right thing by him.

Reckon Crows will have their eyes on Marsh/Barker with 16.

They took finbar Malley not as forward, and are going to try him as a key defender. So they may go for marsh if still there.

I recon they want a mid though. They'll be looking at Greeves phillapoo. I imagine Curtin plays more mid next year so they'll need a half back/wing type, Lindsay farrow maybe.

We'll 100% be asking and seeing if can tempt him across. But if he's not interested he isn't good enough and we aren't good enough to bring in a player that doesn't want to be there. That will just upset everyone and make things miserable.

I think we should not just focus on individual player's performance this year. Improvement from all players and coaches will come from team improvement including:
1. Familiarisation of new game style as a team
2. Realisation of not playing to train and get high draft picks
3. Realisation of "playing to win" the match and not just individual quarters.
4. .....

Say what you will about Clarke and feeling like he loses trades by marginal amounts, but if that’s the case I almost feel like it’s worth it to have the stress of trading period over early and being able to sit back and enjoy the deadline day shit show and melts from other clubs.

I suspect we want to keep our cap space for a go at Lachie Neale next year and possibly even Jed Walter. Then maybe a Chad Warner the following year.

This would be elite recruiting & would definitely shoot us back up the ladder sooner rather than later.

End 2026: Lachie Neale RFA, Jed Walter trade.
End 2027: Chad Warner RFA.

Hopefully the goodwill we have built with Brisbane this year holds us in good stead for them to not match an offer for Neale (especially after they 3peat again).
Trading for Walter may be an issue but I'm sure GC would trade him for beans (judging by their trade history). Throw them a bunch of points for the next Academy gun they have.

Warner I'd say is the most likely of the 3 targets, assuming of course we don't have a dumpster fire 2 years & Harley wants out. But of course who knows what can happen - Swans could very easily win it all with Curnow.

The most important thing is we improve in 2026 where we can start to enter the trade/FA market more aggressively than the draft.

If ever there was a year where the clubs and league push back on the PA, this surely must be it.

I agree with some sort of three year+ carve out which keeps players better in line on trade requests. Or, alternatively, simply this: if a player requests a trade they can't specify where. If the club initiates the trade conversation, the player must still consent to the destination. I dunno - there's something in there.

The PSD is a joke. If there's absolutely no risk of getting picked up by any other club and a player can just set his demands to ensure he goes somewhere, why even have trades at all. It's borderline draft tampering.

I hope in future we just laugh at anyone's PSD threat and let trades fall through knowing we'll still get our player just like Crows have done for both Hately and Ah Chee now.

If a player has two or more years remaining and wants a trade then they must nominate a minimum of two teams they are prepared to go to.

Gives the the player choice and control. The PA will sign off on that.

Gives the club holding the contracted player leverage to get a fair deal.
