I'm fine with Langdon being our prime target. Seems realistic and fits a need.

We don't have the salary cap or trade currency to land any big fish this off season. We're not trading brander. We have the top end talent to win a flag (and are retaining that talent) but need AFL quality depth to support them. Langdon brings this in a position of need.

Also this is going to be an odd draft with limited visibility of draftees - could pick up a gem or two if we're lucky.

Liked the look of Narkle as a junior but haven’t been that impressed by him at afl level. Seems like someone who doesn’t quite fit as a mid or forward. At least Langdon has some selfish goal sense. Would be happy to grab both with cheapo picks though

Has also done an ACL in recent years. Not to say he’s necessarily going to pop it again but definitely a risk bringing a player with that history into the club.

In Langdon’s defence GWS were a shambles this year and were mainly dysfunctional in their ball movement.

Yeah slow deliberate movement from the back line when they intercepted. Could have contributed to Cameron wanting out. Stating the obvious but Forwards thrive on quick clean movement, which we lacked for long stretches of games this year. And when we did get it in we didn't have the forwards tackling hard enough to keep it in our half.
Not sure which way the recruiter's head here. More half back line / wing speed players that can break the line or chase harder tackling pressure forwards to lock it in. Hard to find either type at the moment

Cripps was pick 25. I rated him much higher and wanted him at the time as I saw him as a much better player than conca (well done on that one richmond and freo)

He hadn't done a lot at his time at the saints and we basically paid a pick in the 40's. Future third round pick for Langdon will probably get it done.

25 was a first round pick that year with expansion team picks . I know its semantics but its true .

Why would we give a future 3rd . Clubs get ex first round draft picks from gws for 2nds and 3rds

If Cripps does want to come home to WA should we package a deal to get him here for 2021 while Nic is still dominating in the middle? Could pinch another flag if Cripps resumes as the clearance beast from 2019.

Anyway here's my fake trade. Gaff and Brander plus our 2021 first rounder for Cripps. Does Carlton take that deal?

Agreed. Aliir is an intercept defender, we already have two very good ones that often spoil each other, they are so good at reading the play. We just need an old style lockdown defender. No frills, just spoil the ball away and stick to your man.
