Someone mentioned a while ago about Schofield wage off the books

Remember that he was on a pittance this year. He was quite annoyed about it at the time and took a long time to sign back on because of it. He would have been financially better off just retiring pretty much but he was talked into 1 more year. He was very close to not going around last year

You forget that we could have made the deal a year earlier for just 1 x 1st rounder and kept our 2019 1st pick which we could have used to pick up Deven Robertson. Larke medallist, local boy, WC supporter.

Note that Larke medallists generally turn out to be very good players, of the 10 year, 200 game types. The last dud was probably Cale Morton in 2007.

I haven't forgotten, from all reports we offered a pretty good package of picks and sadly Rawlings wasn't able to get it over the line. In retrospect perhaps we should have offered a little more but we don't truly know what was offered and there has been consistent rumours that Wells continued to move the goal posts all throughout the negotiations due to the fact they didn't want to trade him at all. We will probably never know the extent but we aren't one to usually hold a club to ransom and he was contracted so i have to assume we offered a pretty fair pacakge to get him at the time and Geelong just refused.

Still think we have interest in Fiori. Watch this space...
Brander for Clarke, Hickey for Langdon, Pick 30 for Fiorini.
Non of this will happen .
For 1 brander doesn't want to go
2 Sydney want hickey not gws where langdon is
3 There would be 5 vic teams screaming out for an inside mid like fiorini. Wr are well stocked for inside mids .

Pick 30 or future 2nd for sharpe or powell wa boys would be more likely and much better for our list balance.

He was one of those "How did he get missed" players though when he did get picked up. Was insane he wasnt picked up as a youngster and even that 2nd good WAFL year was needed.

He trained with Fremantle at one stage and they passed on him the year before Geelong picked him up too
Harry was never much better than average in junior football, great kid, used to play then hang around and run the boundary for the higher grades. I think it took a few years for any club to think he could overcome his lack of pace, he somehow moves faster than he looks like he is.
Great career, an example of someone who extracted everything he had in the pursuit of a footy career.

Firstly, bringing in the oldies quite possibly could push out some talent.
Plus GWS will match and force a trade for Cameron. So they will receive at a minimum 2 of Geelongs picks.

We hope.

The fact Cameron has come out and said he is moving should mean GWS match. Little to no risk he stays, they get two 1sts not one.

Still hardly selling the future, is it? Getting Higgins and Smith for free and trading a couple of their abundance of picks for Cameron. Narkle and Cockatoo leaving (no loss). Whoever gets pushed out will get them picks in return too don't forget.

I remember in his first season a commentator called him the weak link[emoji1787]

Matt Rendell seems to think WCE will be aiming for Logan McDonald from 2023 as a key forward ...not sure whoever draft's McDonald would let him go easily and the price would be high in draft picks anyway .

We're so bad , we poach players and will be in his ear the day he is drafted evidently .

OMG

Wow really putting his neck out with that call....highly rated (currently undrafted) KPP will be targeted to return home in a few years - I assume because Josh Kennedy is old...

Langdon, for what he SHOULD cost us is too good to pass up really.

Banger first year, shown he's a more than capable small forward at AFL level and can kick goals. Also shown he brings lots of pressure, unlike our other smalls.

Pushed out of the team and played minimal games the past 2 seasons. Is out of contract and wants to come home. NOMINATED West Coast.

He should be cheap with all that behind him, and has too much of an upside to pass up. We'd be silly not to get him on board.

Also our 3rd round picks have been pushed back 5 places and are now 54 and 59... is one of those still too much to pay for Langdon everyone??

Yeah I agree. I think it's a really good way to go about levelling up their list. This is providing they are not overpaying to bring these guys in.

Last time we had pick 59 we took Adam Carter.

Do we really want to bring in Langdon at the expense of the next Adam Carter?

What about the development hole it leaves behind? I can't think of one promising young mid that Geelong has on the list getting games. Clarke was it, but he's leaving because of this. Geelong's core midfield is still Selwood and Danger. Guthrie and Menegola had one-off good seasons, but I am highly sceptical that will last.

Their KPPs are also in trouble. Who replaces Taylor? Ratagoulea was their upcoming forward but he might get pushed out with Cameron coming in.

They are all in for now and I suspect they hit the cliff when Danger, Selwood and Hawkins are gone.

How do you know Clark is leaving? And you just said it yourself. They don't have many youngsters coming through getting games, just a bunch of gamble draft picks. So how are they selling a future they don't have?

EDIT: I'm not going to argue about Geelong, I couldn't give two shits about them. Agree to disagree

Silly me! I thought this was the trade/draft thread. Can the fruit/ meat/poultry discussion please piss off somewhere else. None of it is either funny or clever

Looks like we got ourselves a juicy new meme to flog for 2021 😍
