That's why I tagged EP in my post above, because he made the original comment, to which North supporters replied frothing at the mouth at how they were going to get Simmo back.

Each to their own, I made a series of posts telling the North supporters why Simmo wouldn't coach them, even though they are deluded enough to think it is a possibility and obviously they didn't handle it well. I didn't say anything about Rhyce or his situation, as it is sensitive, and despite what you may think, I'm not a dick.

If you think Alphy heading over to the Catters board is flying the flag, you're entitled to that opinion.

Pick 2 for Cerra allowing Freo to get McDonald is actually a decent trade PROVIDED Adelaide retain pick 1 and take Thilthorpe. I could see it going **** up if Adelaide sell pick 1 and go back 2 or 3 places. Given Dons need for a KPF and they may have picks 6/7/8, who knows what will happen. Hawks need a KPF as well.

In all likelihood, Carlton will move up the ladder a few spots reducing their compo, which would make it more likely that they match, rather than accept a pick around 10.

It might cost us 2 firsts (again).

He also said yesterday that ‘the smartest club’s lure players by sorting out a job for their partner too.’...he was then told that wasn’t allowed which surprised him very much.

FWIW, I think he was a little hard done by with the Indigenous comments - he was having a private conversation with an AFL official and was discussing the challenges faced with using high picks on indigenous talent - which at the time was proving quite high risk due to ‘struggles to adjust to the professional demands of the game...’ - he suggested (roughly) ‘you’ll find clubs treading carefully if they don’t have 1 white parent’ which is a shocking thing to say....but I feel he was somewhat thrown under a bus by Jason Misfud...who proved to be something of a witch hunter down the line.

What a stupid thing to say though.

Not only is Mifsud himself Aboriginal, he is literally the Executive Director of Aboriginal Victoria now which is the government agency that responsible for Aboriginal Affairs in Victoria.

I think I have spoken about this issue at length here and on the MB.

The kind of comments Rendell expressed are pervasive in AFL community. Everyone wants the talent and flair that comes along with many of the Indigenous boys, but many clubs aren't willing to do the other piece, that is sometimes required, which is around mentoring, decision making, character development.

We need to be breaking down barriers and ensuring clubs have the RESOURCES AND CAPABILITY to identify and then support Indigenous players. Some of whom need more support than other players.

If you take Rendell's comments to their end point, that means for us at West Coast - No Chris Lewis, No Wirrpanda, No Liam Ryan

Ya I don't think it was malicious, certainly not appropriate at the time and especially today, but if anything he was saying the quiet part aloud. The attitudes are the problem and you can't change much if you don't articulate it.

Your right, it's a strange one. He is a Victorian kid apparently from a quite well-to-do-family so going to the West would seem a strange move for him and your right again Birchell is on the edge of Retirement tearing his hamstring in the last final I cant see him playing all the games next year in a full season. Witherden's name first came up with the Bombers from some Journo speculating I think. But Redden went to you guys and he was a South Aussie so who knows. There is no talk of Brisbane needing to loose some salary cap and if we did that would be Steph Martin. There has been a bit written we actually have plenty of Salary cap and are chasing another quality mid fielder. Where there is smoke there is fire even though Brisbane has said he is going no where.
