Solved Corby to be paroled?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Schapelle Corby has had her sentence cut by two months as part of an annual Christmas remission program, an official has said.

Under the Christmas program, the justice ministry granted 8,429 prisoners across the country sentence cuts.

However, the official was tight-lipped about the 36-year-old's prospects for parole amid speculation she may be released from jail on the resort island of Bali in the near future.

Interestingly, Renae Lawrence was also granted a two month sentence shortening under the Christmas program. Which I find quite extraordinary if the recent accusations about her being found to have a knife and planning to kill a warder are true.

Then again, maybe every prisoner just automatically gets the two month cut?

"Bitch be guilty", "no bogan drug dealers here".... there's nothing more to be said is there? A perfect demonstration of everything I referred to previously: ignorance, malice, and abuse.

I stated earlier that your nation has the government and establishment it deserves, but that Schapelle Corby didn't. Unless she dies, which is extremely possible in her current state (contrary to what your media feed you), she will one day walk free. You, however, will not be free of the corrupt, callous and cowardly society you have collectively created.

I wish I could feel sorry for you, but I don't.

Over and out: goodbye.

[For the record, I have no association with The Expendable Project, other than admiration for the work they have done in exposing this stain on humanity]
The post of a full-blown lunatic.

The bolded bit also made me giggle, as I would have assumed all people are capable of death. :)

According to a Channel 7 newsflash this evening, Corby's family believe she could be released as early as THIS WEEK.

WHat is the sentence for the same crime in Australia? Surely not ten.

Let her out, spare us the media sanctimony.

13 KGS or Marijuana? I'd say it would be around 5-7 years depending on priors. 13 kegs is a lot of product to be trafficking.

Yeah sure just the circus that will be around the woman and her silly family.

There will be a huge bidding frenzy between the rival networks for the 1st interview once Corby is released. It will be a circus alright.

I never thought I'd use this word outside the national anthem but:

Our Schapelle is girt by idiots.

- A former family lawyer has come out public and said she'll roll a big fat joint to celebrate
- Her first lawyer handled it wrong by mounting a massive media campaign protesting her innocence. All this has done is put the spot light and pressure on Indonesia to not look soft on drugs
- her family were unable to keep their traps shut either

If there's one thing the Indo's don't like is having foreigners interfere and piss them off. That "roll a joint" comment just puts her freedom at risk.

What is it the people who surround Schapelle don't get? Surely it's not that hard to realise they should say nothing and be as low profile as possible?

Michelle Leslie was advised by a good legal team who advised her: low profile, be humble and sorry, convert to muslim. There is a vast gap between smart people and dumb arses.

The gulf between outcomes that good vs bad legal advice provides is immense. And for a criminal case, winning the battle of public appeal is nigh on useless. And as you point out, sometimes entirely counter-productive. When in a criminal trial, just shut up.

Time to go live underground for a couple of weeks.

It will be interesting to see how the upcoming TV show portraits the Corby crime.

Almost certainly incorrectly.

Gets out smokes a joint and gets caught by the cops, straight back into her cell, Don't forget she has to spend 2 years in Indonesia on parole, before even thinking of returning to Austalia

Why on earth would they put her on parole in the community in Indonesia rather than deport her?

Q. What happens when Corby is released from the jail?
A. She will be fingerprinted, by all 10 fingers, and fill in paperwork. This will take at least an hour to be done. Only then will she be permitted to go home or to enjoy her freedom.
Q. Where will she live?
A. Under Corby's parole conditions she must live at her sister Mercedes and brother-in-law Wayan Widyartha's home in central Kuta. The home has been inspected by parole officials.
Q. Will Corby have to spend her first night of freedom in the home?
A. No, she can stay in a hotel or villa or wherever she likes, so long as she informs the parole officers that she intends to stay elsewhere and gives them the address and details.
Q. While on parole can Corby travel?
A. She can travel around Indonesia but must inform her parole officer where she is going, for how long and where she intends to stay. But she must get permission first.
Q. Can Corby leave Indonesia while on parole?
A. No, she must remain in Indonesia for the entirety of her parole period.
Q. How long will Corby be on parole?
A. Corby remains on parole until the expiration of her sentence in 2016. She must remain in Indonesia for the whole time and for an extra year, until mid 2017, serving an extra year on parole supervision.
Q. How long has Corby served in prison?
A. She was sentenced to 20 years in jail for the crime of trafficking marijuana into Bali. Her sentence was then reduced to 15 years on appeal, then increased to 20 years on further appeal. In 2012 she won a clemency plea to Indonesia's President and had five years slashed from the sentence. She has now served more than nine years in jail, since her arrest on October 8, 2004. She has won more than 30 months of remissions since then and had her sentence further cut. She has been eligible for parole for the past 18 months, after serving two-thirds of the sentence.

Actively surprised; my understanding is that in a reverse case, Australian authorities would boot from country and wash hands with a nice "And don't come back" note on their file. Certainly would not be thrilled about the idea of a prisoner that will eventually get deported bumming around the country on parole.
